Hi guys, I have a strange problem with my rig (i7 4790K, Maximus VII Impact). Recently I have been unable to boot up my PC due to Q-Code 55, which is a memory problem (I think). So I tried swapping out my 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pros for my old but trusty 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Blues. No problems booting there. So, thinking it was a problem with my VPros, I tested them in my old rig (i7 3770, ASUS P8Z77-V) and boots perfectly, nothing wrong. So, I try placing the VPros back into my Maximus build. Nada. Retry using my Kingstons, boots no problemo. Is it a RAM problem or is there something wrong with my Mobo? Maximus Rig: i7 4790K ASUS Maximus VII Impact 240GB Intel 530SSD 3TB WD Black 600W Silverstone SX600-G Leadtek GTX780 Old rig: i7 3770 ASUS P8Z77-V 1TB WD Blue 750W AcBel PSU Leadtek GTX780 (I swap the gpu depending on which rig I'm using) The RAM: 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600MHz (works on both rigs single channel, dual channel everything) 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866MHz (only works with old rig, sometimes boots on new rig with single channel on 1st slot tho) Any sort of help would be welcome. I personally think it's a problem with the Mobo RAM slots, but I could be wrong...

Hello, I have the ASUS Z-97 Deluxe and Kingston HyperX Fury 2×8GB 1866MHz black in the BIOS everything seems to be fine but when I boot to windows the Q Code LED shows "51" in the user guide the codes 50-53 means "Memory initialization error. Invalid memory type or incompatible memory speed" I tried everything I know change DIMM slots, overclocking them to 1866 MHz instead of auto nothing happens. Boot is still kind of slow. Contacted the support they said the memory is incompatible. then I got corsair vengeance pro 2×8GB 1866MHz from the "QVL" but same problem . Now is there anything on my part I can do to make sure about what's causing the issue. is it the MB or the 4 RAMs?

Hello everyone, I have been planning for this build for at least 6 months now. Thanks to many of Linus' videos, I learned a lot about hardware which helped me to choose these parts. It was alot of fun building this first PC despite my fear of breaking/receiving a broken part. I have overclocked the GPU to 1306MHz without increasing any voltages and the memory is running at 7494MHz (Don't want to fry it so I keep it low)! Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I have just completed a new build, installed windows 8.1...but when I try to start windows I get a bsod (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL). Please help!!! Hello this is my new build I did because my old GTX 470 SLI wasn't powerfull anymore and I wanted to game on 5760x1080. Result was this little monster: -SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB -HDD: 1TB WD Green -CPU: Intel Core I7 4770K -CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 -GPU: Asus GTX 770 DCUIIOC (2-way SLI) -RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB -Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Gene -PSU: Corsair TX750-V2 -Case: Corsair Obsidian 350D (window) -Monitors: 3x Acer V236HL, Samsung Syncmaster 245B -Keyboard and mouse: Steelseries Z-board, Logitech G5 -Speakers and racing wheel: Logitech Z-5500, Driving Force GT Thinking bout watercooling but no money for that yet now that I bought this hardware. And on request how I fitted the Vengeance Pro under the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2: clearance to fins bout 1/2mm and the fan I moved up few fins.

So ive got a lot of questions here, and most of them are related to overclocking... First of all, my primary concern is to make sure i can disable the integrated graphics of the APU. Second, is that ive heard that APU's have compatibility issues with some graphics cards, so i want to make sure that the GTX 760 can work well with the APU... third of all, How do i overclock my 5600k with an ASUS F2A85-V PRO FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard and the corsair H100? And finally, is im getting the Corsair Vengeance pro memory (8gb 1600mhz) and im wondering if its easy to overclock it? (i know they were meant for Ocing) - Thanks Flight1sim

I would like if anyone can confirm that http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=79026 would work with the Maximus VI Formula board. The reason for the Hyperx beast and not corsair vengeance pro is the only 2x8 available on ncix is in gold(out of stock, so happy since i wanted red) the red that is available according to corsair isnt z87 ready and atleast the Hyperx says it XMP ready. i would love to order it before this week is finish its like the last major part i have to get and gskill is a hell no Parts Case Storm Stryker CPU i7-4770k Mobo Maximus VI Formula Cooler H100i SSD HyperX 3K 240 HDD 1TB VelociRaptor PSU AX 860i GPU GTX 780ti RAM 16gb unknown

RAM Compatabilty So I've got a P9X79 PRO motherboard from asus. It is a quad-channel board with 8 RAM slots which means that it supports up to 64GB of ram based on quad-channel RAM kits. Since this motherboard is blue I'd like some blue RAM to go with it. The Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600 blue's. I'd like 4 of these supporting a quad-channel setup, but I can't find it. on corsair's website it says that this memory only supports dual-channel setups, but Linus is promoting a rig based on this exact motherboard and this exact ram on youtube. this rig is known as the Corsair Dream Machine XG. it has 4x4 GB's of this RAM. how come? Hey guys ! I'm a long time viewer of LinusTechTips as well as all the other channels. I've used computers tremendously throughout my life, with my first game being Wolfenstein on our first MAC. Again,, during my teenage years I built, sold, and lived computers. However, overclocking wasn't something that I ever had the opportunity to learn about. Due to some terribly unfortunate events, I've been out of the PC game for about 6 or so years. So, recently I acquired a decent amount of money to build a computer. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to spend as well as the specific parts. Here is the build. TLDR : I've used computers nearly my whole life, but have no overclocking experience. Specifically things like CPU Core Voltage + Changing to Adaptive Mode, CPU Core Ratio. CPU Cache Ratio. I could totally be a big idiot and this could be the wrong video to be watching. I know that my MOBO has a couple pre-configured overclocking profiles with the MSI Gaming App. It shows OC and Gaming mode. I also keep getting this message saying that I need to install my CPU Chipset Driver, which I thought I already had which is really confusing. Nevertheless, I really just want to do a mild overclock. First just to see what kind of quality processor it is out of the litter other i5-4690K's. Second, just to get it at somewhere that is for one stable, and two will make my components last as long as humanly possible (Yes, I'm aware that OC can be bad for longevity). I know I don't really want to overclock my video card or my memory really at all if at all possible. I'm not sure if you have to increase voltage to memory if you increase it to the cpu as well ? All these things I would love to learn about but I just can't seem to find anything on my processor combined with my mobo. I've even just looked for OC guides for my motherboard and I haven't found anything that goes into the depth that Linus does in the above posted link. TLDR : Help me OverClock my Processor please.
