Hello everyone, The computer I've had so far is the HP pavilion p6130f. And it finally broke down yesterday. I'm pretty sure its a Ram issue because while attempting to fix it following a video online (linked below), I heard 1 long beep on repeat when I pulled out all the rams and ran it. So I figured I'd just rebuild it. I'm planning to get a new motherboard, CPU and Ram (linked below). I was just wondering if I could possible reuse the chassis, hard drive and psu (300W) from the original. Would that work? Thanks all^^ Usage: This computer is mainly used as a TV replacement so nothing more than a few videos are gonna be played on it. Video: Parts I'm thinking of buying: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/469wjc HP Pavilion p6130f: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01775369-28

Hey there. I built myself a gaming computer but i dont really know much when it comes to a cheaper computer, i basically just put a bunch of compatible expensive parts together now my mom thinks I'm a computer genius and wants me to build her a computer for her new business. She is starting off these few months doing taxes, and later on She will be selling insurance.Insurance companies usually have their own software, but I doubt it will be too taxing on the computer. Her budget is 600$ but any cheaper than that will be appreciated. I live in Dallas, Tx. And there is a Micro-center near me in the Richardson area. if that helps. As for peripherals, I need an all in one printer with a load top fax machine. Here are some cheap ones I have found tho I dont know if they are good. http://www.microcenter.com/product/429716/WorkForce_WF-3620_All-in-One_Printer http://www.microcenter.com/product/445887/PIXMA_MX492_Office_All-In-One_Inkjet_Printer_Black that will take 50-80$ off of the budget. I think I can scrounge up a monitor, keyboard, and mouse for her. The rest is for the pc. I have found this prebuilt at microcenter. I think it seems good enough, but im not 100% sure http://www.microcenter.com/product/469281/Aspire_ATC-780A-UR11_Desktop_Computer If you would like to make me a computer parts lists, please use micro-center at the Richardson area, unfortunately my mom has told me about this last minute, And I wont have time to order stuff online, or return it if something is DOA. Honestly If the 400$ build is good enough, I will tell her to buy it. It will save her about 100$ that she can use on other small things for her business. Thank you, -Libby

I've been working on my first build that I planned on selling for some money. Its nothing high end, but was suppose to do a bit of gaming. I bought myself a dell optiplex sff 790, and got a evga 750 ti. I heard the graphics card would fit with the SFF but it isnt fitting at all. so i came to the conclusion that i might just get rid of one or the other. I dont know whether to sell my graphics card or the half built dell optiplex. each were about 100$ to get (including all the shipping) what should i do?

I was thinking about building a cheap pc for hosting small game servers (4-6 players). Mostly minecraft, but some other games as well. I have some ddr3 ram lying around as well as hard drives and a power supply. The only thing I need is a CPU and a motherboard. Would something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Mini-DDR3-Motherboard-N3050I-C/dp/B01LYCDG4H/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1497344125&sr=8-6&keywords=integrated%2Bcpu%2Bmotherboard&th=1 or this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JO1DIIM/ref=psdc_1048424_t2_B01G5I70RG be enough or do I need something with some more muscle power? Keep in mind I have a low budget and I want it to consume a low amount of electricity.

Lately and my graphics card started acting up, when in games like Warframe and Rainbow 6 seige i set my video settings to anything higher then low my frames stay pretty reasonable but after 20-30 sec the sceen freezes, audio stutters and my whole PC reboots, it happens every time. I want to buy a faster graphics card but i don't know whitch one because i'm afraid it'll get bottlenecked by my CPU. What can you suggest?

EDIT: Due to price fluctuation the sub-$600 version is sadly no longer sub-$600. Hey everybody. This is my first post on this forum but not my first time talking about PC building. I just wanted to share two versions of my attempt to devise the most bang-for-buck, high-end gaming rig I could think of. It all started when I stumbled across this super handy thread on this same forum about modifying LGA 771 CPUs to fit in 775 socket motherboards here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/365998-mod-lga771-to-lga775-cpu-modification-tutorial/ Just for kicks I then went on PC Part Picker and tried my darndest to use this trick to get the most performance possible out of an old Intel Xeon quad-core CPU. I'm no pro by any means so feel free to criticize the hell out of these builds if you see fit but so far I haven't seen any incompatibilities or major issues with these builds apart from the lack of an upgrade path and not-so-great cable management optimization. If your only concern is sheer gaming performance then I believe these are some of the most cost-effective high-end builds you could go with. Feel free to tell me what you like, think could be improved, or think is total garbage about these builds. Hi guys! I'm asking for two of my buddies. They just want a very affordable gaming build (no exact budget given..) for the games listed. I know the first thing to do is go for AMD CPU's and I don't know much about them. Care to help me out? Suggest some parts / builds (no peripherals / monitors)? Thanks!

Hello, I've been wanting to build a PC as part of my hobby and I'd like to test this new one as it's something that you don't see in your everyday pc build so it's a nice little project i have. What im looking for is not a PC that can run AAA tittles with the max out setting (you can probably tell by the tittle), probably some modest games like L4D2 and counter strike at aprox. 30+fps. The main purpose of the build is to run software like photoshop and mainly working purposes (But gaming once in a while ain't bad right). The build has a base prize of 239 USD and im willing to spend up to 350 (less is better of course). Either way I'll give the part list and then I'll explain why i think it's a goo option. AMD A4-6300 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor MSI A68HI AC Mini ITX FM2+ Motherboard Kingston 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive MSI Radeon R7 250 2GB Video Card Well this are the parts. First off, the processor. I think this one is just great as it has the specs needed (In my opinion) to use it for what i need it. Then the motherboard, it has built in wifi and other cool little features. Note that im mostly interested in the wifi not so much the RAM capacity as I'll only be using 4gb of ram and since it's only one stick, it has option for an upgrade. The HDD i found it to be good as im not going to be loading it with BIG files and it's cheap. And lastly the Graphics card, i believe this one is cheap and can run perfectly for the price, I already saw some real time benchmarks with almost the same specs and it runs games decent. I'm not taking into account the power supply as i already own one and also, im not including the case as i'll be doing some fancy building on my own, so it's not needed at all. Any suggestions will of course be 100% appreciated and also make sure to fit my needs, i dont need an overkill. Thanks in advance for your support ^^)

After 8 years of using and not maintaining whatsoever my old gaming pc, my father has decided he wants to get a new computer. The main usage it will get is light networking (work correspondence mainly, some web browsing), Spotify, Netflix and the occasional Blu-rays. So in all, very light, non-demanding stuff, but due to his total cluelessness towards technology, it should withstand some long term usage. He got a couple of suggestions from the local PC store (in Bulgaria) for ready builds, but as I'm not entirely familiar with some of the parts ( I live in Finland and we don't have even half of them here), I thought I'd take your opinions: Note: These are exact copy-paste from their email Price: $500 Motherboard: Asrock b85m/1150 CPU: i5-4460/3-2g/6mb/box/lga1150 RAM 4g ddr31600 adata HDD: 500g sg sata6g/7200/3y warr Video card: Asus gt720-sl-2gd3-brk Case: Omega atx-8815bk/no psu LAN PSU Fortron he-500+/500w LG ch12ns30 blue-ray combo blk Price: $300 Motherboard: Asrock b85m/1150 CPU: g3440 3-3ghz/3m/box/1150 RAM: 4g ddr3 1600 adata HDD: 500g sg sata 6g/7200/3y warr Case: Omega atx-8815bk/450w 12cm/bk LG ch12ns30 blue-ray combo blk The preferred points for the build are: any good performing on the budget Quad-core 4Gb RAM 250-500GB HDD Blu-ray drive Let me know what you guys think!

I am planning on building a computer for my father so he can play around on the internet. He only uses the internet and a couple of programs for pictures he uploads to some forums, he isn't the most knowledgeable but can usually figure it out (still on XP). I am planning to build him a computer that will last him a while. I'm basically looking for something that is very cheap (no GPU), and will last him at least 5 years. I am thinking of using an AMD A8-3520 or something along those lines as they have the integrated GPU and should be fast enough to get him through quite a few years. Here is what I was thinking of using: PCPartPicker part list: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/X0LT CPU: AMD A8-3850 2.9GHz Quad-Core Processor ($89.99 @ Newegg Canada) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ NCIX) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-A55M-DS2 Micro ATX FM1 Motherboard ($54.97 @ DirectCanada) Memory: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($32.99 @ Newegg Canada) Storage: Crucial M4 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($77.99 @ Newegg Canada) Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ NCIX) Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 380W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($54.99 @ Newegg Canada) Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($18.00 @ Vuugo) Total: $398.91 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-05-13 15:57 EDT-0400) I don't know what to do about storage though. I was thinking of just putting his current hard drives in the new computer to avoid having to transfer everything. Anyways, So I have done lots of research for my own computer, but I never really look at the lower spectrum of the parts, what would you guys suggest to keep his web surfing/general usage the quickest, while being as cheap as possible. He already has a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, all he needs is a new computer. Like I mentioned, I don't really follow the low end parts so as far as longevity and reliability goes, any insight on this would also be appreciated. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

Budget (including currency): $750 usd Country: America Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vKF4Hz im trying to get this down to $750, is there anything I can change or do to make it cheaper
