Hey everyone! I've recently experienced a problem with my PC and my homes breaker. Under seemingly the most random of loads; sometimes playing AAA games at max settings with HDR, and other times just on a call with my friend without HDR, my computer will shut off as well as everything else in my room, which I am assuming is my breaker being pulled, since the power loss is exclusively in my room. I've tried many different fixes, most notably using an extension cable to route just my pc power to a different circuit, while leaving everything else like my HDR monitor and other electronics on the other circuit, effectively spitting power usage over two circuits. This did work! For a week or so, until I started seeing this issue happening again (albeit less often then it was happening before) So! Here we are, me sitting at my pc, wondering when it will pull my fuse next. Is there any possible fixes or solutions you can think of? One of the big things I was thinking, is maybe its my PSU? It's quite a budget one, and decided to reuse it after buying a new PC. It's enough to handle my components no problem, even at max load, and hasnt shat out on me. But maybe it is the issue? I ideally dont want to be out 100 bucks for a new PSU if I don't have too. Let me know if that's a fair assumption, and if it is a psu problem, what ones do you recommend for my build? Thanks! Nothing fancy (If it's really important I can check, just let me know) OS: Windows 11 Home TL;DR: My PC is causing my home's breaker to trip randomly, especially during intense gaming or even simple tasks. I've tried various fixes like routing PC power separately, but the problem persists. Could it be my budget PSU causing the issue? I'm hesitant to buy a new one if it's unnecessary. If that's the issue, got recommendations for a reliable PSU for my build?

Whenever I try to run a game that uses a lot of power, my breaker trips. This started a while ago, but it wasn’t much of a problem until I tried play Cities: Skylines II. I opened up the game, and my breaker tripped within 15 seconds of the menu screen loading. I tested this in multiple different rooms each on different circuits, and it continues to trip the breaker to whatever circuit. These connect to the bedrooms, and these switches are also a different type from all of the others? (ALL switches are General Electric, those ones are just a lighter grey and different shape) Some more information: - Switches are 15 Amps - House is only around 10 years old - PSU supports 750 watts - GPU is 4080 - Only trips on simulation-heavy games (C:S II, Stormworks, etc)

THE PROBLEM: I just built an ITX PC. I needed to add fans to help with GPU heat, so I ordered a 3D-printed attachment for my PC to add more fans. I attached 2 120mm Phanteks fans to the case addition and chained them together so that they used only 1 MOBO fan header. Once installed, I turned on my PC and launched Fan Control to set the new fans to rev up when the GPU got too hot. To check the temperature while gaming, I launched God of War to see how it did. Roughly 1 minute into the game, my PC flipped the breaker. Nothing else was drawing a tremendous amount of power on that breaker. What do I need to do? My PSU is 750-watt. Just completed my new build yesterday and it boots up fine on my 20A circuit, but trips my 15 everytime. All I have on the 15A is one other light. I will try another 15A later today but in the mean time wanted to see if the Seasonic S12III 550 is good enough for my build. I know it's lower end but just wanted some input. On the 20A i was able to use it fine for hours, but I just want to make sure it's a power supply or breaker issue before going further. I have my PC plugged into a power bar with speakers, monitor, and a lamp. A couple of times I have switched the power bar on at the wall and the house breaker has tripped - this is before I switch the PC on, and I have never had a trip with the PC running, even while stress testing or gaming. How likely is it that the PSU is responsible? The system is fairly new and this has only happened since I put a new PSU in it. This has only happened twice so far so it's difficult to isolate the problem at the moment.

Hi all, Specs: Seasonic Focus PX-850 Ryzen 9 3900x, stock settings EVGA RTX 2080 XC Ultra (stock settings) OS: Windows 10 22H2 I've moved to a new apartment a few months ago, but finally decided to ship my PC/monitor down over the holidays from my family's place. For the first few days, it was fine. I was playing Guilty Gear with a pal today, and the moment I exited the game, my breaker tripped. This seemed odd, since Guilty Gear (at least on my system) isn't a heavy load (CPU was running at ~10%, GPU was running at ~20-25%). The breaker is 20A on 120v, and the outlets are duplex. From the outlet is a 15A surge protector strip (maximum output of 1800W) which has two monitors (a combined 145W), my PC (PSU is rated at 850W 80+ Platinum), and an audio interface (12W). I also had a ceiling fan light on (don't know the wattage). I can't imagine this even came close to 80% of the power strip's maximum output, much less the breaker. The breaker for the outlets where my PC is one of those AFCI units, which are extremely sensitive, so it could just be this. I'm currently testing my PC an outlet in my kitchen (I kept one of my monitors plugged in the strip in the living room) and launched Guilty Gear. Nothing has tripped, but I noticed some weird pixels on the monitor. I've seen this before, and the classic turning off/on again usually resolves this. However, upon turning it on, my GPU displayed nothing. The signal was detected, but no video. I tried different DP cables, different DP ports on the GPU, and ensured that the GPU was seated properly, as well as the PSU connectors. Everything seemed to be alright. Ended up shutting my PC down and turning it on. Display was fine, GPU seemed to be running smoothly, and I even turned it on/off again. Launched Firewatch which, at high settings, runs my GPU at 90-95%. No display errors or stutters. Everything seems to be running alright as of now, I'll update with further observations. Throughout all of this, according to HWInfo64, rail voltages were within tolerance, component temperatures were reasonable, and no hardware errors. I can't tell if I have an faulty GPU, PSU, monitor, or breaker (or perhaps all four)? Are there any other tests recommended to isolate these components?

Ive managed to find out through a little research that this is due to the type of breaker its plugged into (AFCI). This seems to be confirmed due to the fact that on another AFCI breaker, my computer again trips the breaker yet on a regular gfci breaker it does not and runs well even with other appliances on the same breaker. I know other AFCI breakers (mandatory in bedrooms like where the computer will remain) might not have the same false response to my powersupply, but trial and error with either power supplies or breakers sounds both tiresome and expensive. Another option I think may be possible, however I am not sure if it will work (hence this thread)> Will a UPS with a voltage regulator fix my problem with the AFCI breaker? If I understand my problem correctly, the wave pattern my psu puts out on start is what is bugging the breaker out, so a voltage regulator should change this yes? If yes, what makes a decent (and hopefully reasonably priced) UPS for this particular situation?

My new computer, when turning on, sometimes trips the breaker. When its on, its functional and there are no problems. Temperatures are fine and it is using about a third of what the psu can handle. The only other things on the circuit are small and use little to no power and the breaker is a afci breaker. Im thinking perhaps the power supply is in need of replacement but have seen some posts say it could be the type of breaker where the initial power draw of this type of psu causes the breaker to trip without reason. I have plugged it into a different breaker with the same results, but the other breaker was also acfi. I will probably try a non acfi breaker tomorrow.
