I feel like this maybe be a dumb question but I've been having some trouble were my mic (at2020 hooked up to by gen 3 scarlet solo) will get a roughly 3 second delay if I've either been screen sharing or playing an graphics intense game and especially star citizen it happens consistently its fixed if I unplug the scarlet and plug it back in. but that only last until I happens again I've reset my windows 2 times done all sorts of driver updates and clean installs. I even got a powered usb hub to help with some cutting in and out I was having which worked along with some settings changes in focusrites software. My mic has also been crackling when I screenshare on discord and I cant use my camera and screenshare or else my computer will freak out and shut off all my usb peripherals then they will come back on. Im not sure what is causing the problem either a graphics card motherboard or even the usb chip. I've had these problems for at least 2 years now and I just wanna find an answer. any suggestions are very much appreciated!! I'm also thinking of getting a pcie usb card if that might help but I'm not sure how it would

I bought an AT2020 and a Scarlett Solo Gen 3 in July, and I've been having consistent issues with the volume level. I should be getting plenty of phantom power from the Scarlett (48V is on), yet my mic is still whisper quiet, even with all my system volume settings to max, speaking into the right side of the microphone, speaking close enough to the microphone, and gain set to a comfortable ~70%. Drivers are all up to date, and all my hardware is new and in good condition. I think it may be a Windows driver issue, or maybe a faulty XLR cable, but I really don't know for sure what the issue is and it's becoming very frustrating.

I have an AT2020 connected to a Steinberg UR22mkII DAQ, lately i have been experiencing an issue where I hear my mic normally but suddenly after a couple seconds it drops to inaudible. I have installed the new drivers for the daq and tried a new XLR cable but nothing helps and the only way i can hear the mic is cranking the gain (makes it sound like a tornado) so far no tutorials have helped my reddit posts have gone unanswered and nothing i could think of has worked (Phantom power is on if you were wondering) please let me know if you can help or have any insight into a solution.

Hi all, I recently purchased the RODE PSA1 to use with my AT2020 USB Microphone. I'm having the classic issue of the boom arm springing back up, I'm assuming this is due to counter balancing as the microphone only weighs 374g, and the boom arm is rated for 700g - 1.1kg. Looking for suggestions on how to fix the counter balancing so that the mic doesnt fly up and almost hit me in the face when I nudge it in the slightest! Cheers!

So if i were to get a mic for videos or streams on YouTube or Twitch, which microphone would you recommend to do so? And if so, what should i get for it such as stand, mount, pop filter, etc. Thank you These were the ones i was thinking: https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Yeti-USB-Microphone-Blackout/dp/B00N1YPXW2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1490040272&sr=8-3&keywords=blue+yeti https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT2020USB-PLUS-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B00B5ZX9FM/ref=sr_1_4?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1490039325&sr=1-4&keywords=at2020

Hi! I am starting to get into music, so I decided to use all of the money I had to get a decent recording setup. I purchased a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, a Mackie Mix12FX board, and an Audio Technica AT2020 from its countless amounts of positive reviews and feedback. So I hooked everything up and it sounds ok ingame in CS:GO, but it seems very quiet on stream and in audacity when I record. I think I am gaining the mic wrong. On the mixer, I have the main mix at a little over the 5, the level almost to max, but my gain very low. On the 2i2, I have the two gain nobs (it is hooked up to stereo) at about a little over the middle. I was told to do this to reduce the white noise, but it sounds quiet. How should I correctly gain this? I have pictures below: Thanks, Joe DiCristo

Hey Forums, I have been trying to figure out how to combine the real time audio feedback of my AT2020+ and the sound from my DAC. The mic has a 3.5mm jack that is uses to give the real time feedback and the mic is connected to the computer via USB. My DAC is the one that came with the Asus Rampage V Edition 10 and connects via USB to the motherboard. The DAC has a 3.5mm and a 6.5mm output that can be used. I love the sound of the DAC, but I also want to be able to use my mic feedback feature because I have close backed Sennheiser HD8's and it makes it impossible to hear myself while in VOIP applications. What is the optimal way of setting this up? It seems like a simple 3.5mm splitter (female to two male) would work but those seem only to work in reverse. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I am looking to buy an XLR mic for my gaming/productivity setup. I am looking at getting an Audio Technica AT2020 http://a.co/eVj2NMi, Focusrite Scarlett Solo http://a.co/38bMMD8, Rode PSA1 http://a.co/d08ZvK4, a shock mount with a pop filter http://a.co/5Dcd6rA, and a 20ft XLR cable http://a.co/jksdZ0b. This is my first time buying a mic and I was wondering if these parts are compatible mainly the shock mount and the PSA1 and I could get anything better than what I have. These parts I have right now would cost around 320$.

It sometimes fixes itself very quickly before i can do anything. any ideas whats up? Hey guys, Need some advice before pulling the trigger on a new microphone set-up. Up till now I have been using my modmic 4.0 as my only mic and has done me wonders, but I am looking to up my audio game and create more professional videos. Now I have done some research and have come to a conclusion on which mic I want, the only problem is do I go USB and plug it into the mobo, or do I go XLR and buy an audio interface? Here are the options: 1. XLR setup Microphone: Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Mic https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0006H92QK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1BM3619T6KSPC&coliid=ISWWF2ZLL8ZGR&psc=1 Pop Filter: Zacro Double Layer Microphone Mic Windscreen Pop Filter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GJ2Z49E/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1BM3619T6KSPC&coliid=I3JCSEDAIVZHWL&psc=1 Mic Stand: RØDE PSA1 Swivel Mount https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001D7UYBO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1BM3619T6KSPC&coliid=IEMQX67RSAOHN Shock Mount: Koolertron Universal 50MM (comes in 48-54mm) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H40WUQG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1BM3619T6KSPC&coliid=I3CTKR6FIA8JBE&psc=1 Audio Interface: Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface with Pro Tools https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01E6T56CM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1BM3619T6KSPC&coliid=I2Q21KOWGD4S9B&psc=1 + an XLR cable So that comes up to roughly: £280 2. USB setup Or do I get the USB version of that mic: Audio-Technica AT2020USB PLUS and skip on the audio interface? There is also the USBi version but not sure what the deal is there. The AT2030 is another option, and already comes with a shock mount I believe: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Technica-AT2035-Cardioid-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B002T45X1G/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1503578549&sr=1-1&keywords=at2030 but it does cost more. Any suggestions are welcome

I currently am wanting to upgrade my mic from my headset to a more professional sound. The big 2 I've found are the blue yeti (normal) and the At2020. What will be better the USB yeti or an XLR at2020 with a audio interface. I am aware that the at2020 will be around twice the cost when paired with a audio interface, but I am willing to pay if the quality is worth it. Though the blue yeti is on sale for 90.00$ Usd on Amazon prime day. I need to make a decision and want someone else's input. I do mostly voice overs and chat with friends and may occasionally record my guitar that I play for fun. Thanks

I have just replaced my old Blue Snowball with an Audio Technica AT2020, but it isnt working correctly. Under my recording devices, its there: https://gyazo.com/ac53a4e950112e1e2e5e9a7fbfda7af7 When I set it to "listen to this device" I can hear it: https://gyazo.com/e2a0204a799f4de70dc8ae04976dfc7a https://gyazo.com/2528d90d1c466f3f8ab5ade8a552f813 But wh I try to use a program like discord, nothing happens: https://gyazo.com/b2a256bd7ed3b0540e838e74f40bfad4 >In this gif I am talking out loud, the 'sound' you can see there is a hissing sound- nothing related to the sound I am making. I have Realtek audio drivers, I have uninstalled them, re installed them, my old mic still connects fine to programs. I cant find anyone online that has had the same issues as me, please help ;-; edit: more complications, Audacity can see my mic, but nothing else I have tried.

problem My condenser mic is way too quiet. The mic I have AT2020 Audio Technica (here's a link). I'm currently using a 48V Phantom Power(here's a link) connected to an input XLR cord that goes to my AT2020. The output XLR cord is a converter that converts into a 3.5mm(bought this in person so no link) that goes into a separate 2 line in USB piece(here's a link). troubleshooting - Using the sound window, I turned up the mic volume and volume boost isn't appearing. - I tried unplugging everything in different patterns and plugging them back in. - Making a loud noise before I talk normally. - Downloading this software called Equalizer that provides a virtual interface. Nothing works. I'm very sad as I don't get a lot of money to spend, so spending this much money for my Twitch stream, is kinda annoying. I just want this to work so I can stream properly. If anyone actually reads this, and feel it in their heart to provide a suggest please nothing crazy like some $200 cord or something like that. Please. Thanks for reading.

Made the switch from a Blue Yeti to an AT2020 after a number of people recommended I do so. After about a week or so of figuring out the hardware side of it (I'm far from the best at this sort of thing), I got it up and running, and decided to do a test recording (OBS) to see how it sounded. There's this constant white noise/hissing sound that only gets louder or softer when I adjust the slider labeled "microphone" (see attached). It's quietest at 0, and loudest at 100. As far as setup goes, I have an AT2020 going into a USB phantom power supply, and connected from the power supply to my PC via an XLR to USB cable. I have my suspicions about that part, but I figured it'd be cheaper to rig the AT2020 I already bought that way than to buy an AT2020USB and have an extra $90 microphone laying around. I turned off my noise gate and recorded myself reading Hamlet (original, I know) as a sample. It's worth noting that the white noise isn't just an OBS thing: playing the microphone back through my speakers in real time via windows produces the same hissing. My computer's fans aren't the quietest in the world, but I doubt they're the culprit. I feel like I've looked everywhere and tried everything available to me, and have found very little. Help would be appreciated, even if that help is telling me I'm screwed and need to buy the AT2020USB. 2019-04-15 16-05-46.mp4

Hello all, I currently have an AT2020 Mic and I find that the sensitivity is way to high even when I got into the settings to lower it, the mic just picks up noises easily. I did buy a windsock for it as it is near my window but my question is will a pop filter on top of a windsock help reduce noise input? Cheers

So i recently purchased a Dt770 pro 250 omhs headphones , and decided to pair it with a scarlett 2i2 (3rd) Gen , and an AT2020 Condenser mic . The problem im having is that the headphones are not loud enough , i have the dial turned up to 100% and even with YouTube turned up to full volume , it feels like im listening to it at 50% volume. Am i missing a setting or got a wrong part? I would love to listen to your opinions

I've had my Audio Technica AT2020 for many months now with no problems at all, but just recently my microphone has gotten louder, whenever I talk in voice chats with my friends, they say that I'm too loud even though I was speaking normally, I then opened audacity and recorded the waveforms, it's almost as if a distortion filter was added naturally somehow because it's REALLY LOUD! Here is a recording I took with the microphone about a foot away (12") If there is anything that anyone can do, please let me know! audio (unedited).ogg

I've had my Audio Technica AT2020 for about a year now. In a game my in-game voice had a lot of background noise but it was perfectly fine in discord and every other game. So I fixed using A virtual audio cable and Voicemeeter Banana. Recently I had to move my setup around and now in a game called Rust my mic wast working(it worked normally in rust before) but in discord with my buddy it still normal. So then I went into steam to adjust my mic volume and I turned it up and it ear blasted my buddy in discord so I stopped that. Then I talked really close to my mic and it picked up in-game but it was super quiet and there was a lot of static and all weird. Also when my mic does pick me up I can hear myself with my voice and quiet and static. If anyone can help me it would help my very much because this is bothering my a lot.

Hello forum users. I have a question. choose files... Click to choose files I use the Audio Technica AT2020 XLR cardioid condenser microphone. My Preamp is the PreSonus AudioBox USB Black. My mic works just fine for every other program I use. My mic is set as my default device and default comms device. I also have the volume on it at 100% plus a 20dB gain to make the mic louder for Discord and such. Windows has the little volume meter when looking at recording devices. I can listen to my mic and it sounds great, but the meter isnt budging. Steam refuses to use the mic as well. It detects that I am using the mic, but it does not play any sound when I test it. Their meter doesnt light up at all. I have reinstalled all my drivers. Im on the same setup as it was on my previous computer. It is set up the exact same but still no audio in steam. My preamp software (Universal Control) is set to 48 kHz. Windows is set to 48kHz as well. What is the issue here? Im doing all of it right.
