Know that great bit where you write a proper detailed post and hit submit only to have it ask for a login and wipe the post? yea... Can, ON, Sudbury https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/nW6hFd 500$ limit Gaming PC/Generic home gamer/Potential streamer/VR? Need a new motherboard due to lack of overclocking, a SSD part not functioning (listed) I presume just wrong board support, Win7 64bit patched OS and 3TB HD giving only 2TB... Case fits snug/tight so not sure about getting different dimensions by much more then an inch or so... Graphics card is already butting HD Bays... Open to more modular case suggestions under the limit. On the OS part I guess I'm considering suggestions for a upgrade I guess... As soon as I used windows 7 I've been with it ever since... Never seemed to fail me until now. Not familiar with finding OC compatible MoBo as well as I thought I was. (current board ads suggested it could do it but it's just some dumbed down 'turbo' version) Not sure how to find a MoBo safely compatibile with the rest of my parts. Anyone set me straight?

Hey everyone, A while back I had a system configuration as follows: Coolermaster 690 II Advanced Case (Windowed) Intel Core i7 3820 @ Stock Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler Patriot Pyro 1866Mhz RAM (@ 1333) Gigabyte X79-UD3 Motherboard Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 60GB Patriot Wildifre SSD Antec EarthWatts 750W Galaxy GTX 680 2GB Asus Xonar Phoebus Sound Card I had purchased 2x OCZ Vector 128GB SSD's to go in RAID 0 and it was all fine and dandy for a few weeks then randomly BOOM, one of them starts not being detected and I lost my data. I tried re - RAIDing it, but the same thing happened. Then I took the "faulty" SSD to my mates house and tried it in his PC and wouldn't even detect in his BIOS. I knew then it was faulty. After that I used my 1 SSD for the time being and then randomly that stops working and I tried in my mates PC and that too wasn't detecting either. My HDD has had no issues and I have tried HDD in all the SATA 6Gb/s ports, nothing happened. What could my PC be doing to kill my SSD's? Has anyone had this issue before? Thanks for reading :)

After my other z77 motherboard (not naming any names) died on me last week I've been considering a similar Gigabyte replacement. Since I have little knowledge/experience with any of these, I was wondering what motherboard is better for: Overclocking, features, and overall features.

I need help with a build? As in what's a good micro atx motherboard, I got a case from a friend, he said it's for micro atx... I would like to know how to build a gaming pc, not too expensive. I like the R7850 card, so a build around that. I suppose. Any input would be appreciated! **Also, is mini itx any good? Looks too tiny***

I've not been interested in Thunderolt before, but now I have found that you can get one of these running on a PC with it: http://www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/3819332405206747944?q=apple%20monitor%20thunderbolt&hl=en&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.45645796,d.d2k&biw=1920&bih=955&sa=X&ei=vH55UdLNCo6wPLqCgdAJ&ved=0CGwQ8wIwAQ I now am wanting Thunderboard, but I cannot find any X79 motherboards which supports this. Anyone know if there is any X79 motherboards which support Thunderbolt or if there are any coming in the near future?

I currently have a i7 3770 and a rubbish little mATX Gigabyte board. Should I upgrade my board or should I wait for the next generation and get an unlocked CPU and a good ATX board?

Hey, I am currently looking around for a motherboard that supports SLI, has wireless WiFi and can hold an Intel i5 3570k for overclocking. It is a budget PC, so the cheaper the better. But it has to have som preformance, so that it doesn't bottleneck either the CPU or the GPU. Right now I have the ASUS P8Z77-V in my sight, but do you have any tips for me? Thank you :)

Anyone think a 4770K would be a bottleneck on duel 4GB 680's with a top tier X87 Asus MB? I know technically there is always a bottleneck but I hope you all understand what I am getting at. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I had a little "accident" yesterday, first I'll put up all my hardware: (CPU) AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (Mainboard) MSI 880GM-E41 (GPU) Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 (PSU) One of these very old (china made) ~400 Watt max (I was about to buy a new one... really...) (CPU Cooler) Scythe SCMG-2100 Mugen II (If you need more information, just tell me) So far so good. So yesterday I found an old CPU fan from my AMD Phenom which I thought was a good idea to use as another little fan to make air flow a little better in my PC and yes I was quite bored but I thought it was still an idea. So I plugged it into my motherboard, started everything up and wanted to find out what would be the best positioning for this little fan. I started up Prime 95 along with SpeedFan to messure everything but I realized that my fan was still plugged in which would have falsified my results. Quickly I pulled out my phone, looked up "Can you unplug fan while" and found this little post: http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=591070 Convinced that it works I just unplugged it while it was all running (probably my worst idea ever). After bout 5 to 10 seconds my PC shut down and the LEDs at the front (I only have like a large one, probably for status(?)) was left blinking. Shocked of it I unplugged my power supply and was waiting for a little while. After that I plugged in my PSU again and was hoping that my PC would turn on... but it didn't. I tried everything, unplugging my graphics card, my RAM, my CPU but nothing worked at all. I'm about to send it back on warranty and will probably get it back repaired (also going to get a new 750 watt PSU along with it ;) ) but I am still curious about what happened when it shut down. I was discussing with a friend for quite a while and he first thought it was my poor Mainboard or my CPU but we were not 100% concerned about these thoughts, so that is why I am coming here to ask people for their opinion. I also tried putting another PSU to my PC but nothing happened. Then I checked if my HDD or GPU had any issues but luckily they hadn't. Unfortunately I can not check my CPU because none of the mainboards that I have access to have an AM3 socket so all there is left that could be damaged is either the mainboard (very sure because otherwise the PC would at least turn on) or my CPU (gonna send both in for repair btw). One thing I tried this morning was hooking up the old PSU to my mainboard again and trying to start it up. The fan inside was slowly spinning with almost no noise (it is usually quite loud) and I unplugged it again... I guess it's broken but please tell me what you think (I do not have a voltage meter around me, sorry). I just wanted to get a little discussion about this going because I just started a computer science schooling/education myself and I like to understand hardware much better and this is why I started this topic. Hope there are some good explanations out there... (I am German btw so excuse any mistakes ;P)

I am in love with sff, and portability, so i saw the Bitfenix prodigy and fell in love with. I have been looking at motherboards at the itx size, and i found the asus p8z77 i deluxe. Is it good for gaming, or should i go with an sg09 and a g1 sniper m3 board (or something like that). Thing is, i like having onboard wifi with the asus board, and it looks balling. Thoughts?

Okay so my buddy has an Acer HT2000 motherboard with an Amd Athlon 64 x2 with a GTX 275. Playing starcraft 2 he's getting a ton of framerate drops, from 70 down to about 5 and less, seems to be during bigger battles. Im assuming its the processor but im not sure. Does anybody know what is the best processor he can put in there. He's waiting to spend money on a much better computer but needs to save money at the moment just looking at a quick-ish upgrade to stop the insane drops. The V-ram isn't the problem we dropped all the settings to low, dropped the resolution etc. Temperatures are all good. Please help much appreciated Rich

I am thinking of buying a few Nocuta NF-F12 PWM fans for an upcoming build that I will be making this summer. They are currently only $20 on NCIX US and I was going to pick up a few. What I was wondering if is if there is any compatibility issues with PWM fans. I am looking to probably buy an Asus board, most likely the Maximus V Gene. Before I buy them I wanted to make sure they would be compatible with that board or any motherboard for that matter. So are there any compatibility issues or other problems that could come up with those fans and Asus motherboards? Also, can the Maximus V Gene control both 3 pin and PWM fans? Thanks!

So, when I had made my computer to begin with, I didn't know that the motherboard didn't support my processor, an AMD Phenom II x4 965 clocked @ 3.4ghz and takes 125 watts to supposedly 140 watts to operate at normal speeds. My current motherboard only supports CPUs that go up to 95 watts. :T I've been looking around and can hardly find a motherboard that supports my CPU for less than 90 USD. I've managed to dig up a contender that may work but I'm not too entirely sure, that's where I need help. I really need to know if this motherboard I've found can support my processor and if not, what motherboards will for 70 USD or less. TL;DR: Need to know if this motherboard can support my AMD Phenom II x4 965 @125 watts, if not, what will. Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130679

Hey there guys. I am getting a new computer and i recently noticed that the RAM i wanted to get (Corsair Dominator) , had 1.65volts and that most other memory has 1.5volts. Will this be an issue with an Intel Ivy Bridge motherboard (ASUS P8Z77 V-LX)? am i better off getting the Corsair Vengeance instead?

Hi I'm planning some new mid-level gaming builds to sell based around the FX-6350 and a 7870. I'm looking at motherboards and AMD boards are so cheap, but I can't seem to find a reasonably priced one with an internal USB 3.0 header. Does such a thing exist? Thanks

Good evening everybody. I'm going to be as detailed as possible. I just bought the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP4 TH motherboard and have the following issue: When I turn on the mobo it will shut down immediately, turns all the fans on, but doesn't enter BIOS, or anything. At first I thought it was making contact with something making a short, but I was testing it over its box and antistatic bag. I went to the place where I bought it and they told me that one of the pins in the socket was bent and cause the short. And the tech guy test it and it work fine, I went back home and try it out, just to encounter the same problem. I turn it on, and it shuts down instantly. So I went back, and it worked just find there, telling me it was the power supply. So before buying a new psu, I tested out my psu with another board I have, and it works just find. So once again I try it on the GA-Z77X-UP4 TH, and again no luck. I eventually decided to buy a new one, a 1000w PSU, the technician tested the mobo with a 400w power supply, so the 1000w would do great. So I tested it and again the same problem. So in my desperation I did a jumpstart (connecting the green cable to ground) while it was connected to the mother board, and it started, at first it would just show the white logo screen and restarts again, so after a few waits, I start pressing DEL to see if I could enter the BIOS and I was able to after a few tries (only leaving DEL press would let me enter) and exiting the BIOS after. That help and the resetting cycle stop and continue, I was able to install Windows, and other software. And I even updated the BIOS, since the person who checked my mobo told me it could be a BIOS version compatibility. But even updating it to the most resent (F9) it still has the same issue, and I cannot understand why it won't work properly with my PSU. And the PSU works well with the other motherboard (ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z) I wanna thank everyone for your time in reading my issue and I appreciate any answers. The store would not make my guaranty valid due to not finding anything wrong with the board.

Hi guys, My Kingston SSD broke and it was only bought last Christmas (5-6 months since purchased). The problem is that my grandmother bought this drive on Newegg and she didn't use an account, meaning I can't look up the order number and get a new invoice. I didn't get the invoice (or lost it, I forget which), so I'm not sure how to get a new drive via the warranty. The lesson is always keep receipts/invoices, particularly for electronics, but I was wondering if there is any way for me to still get a new drive under warranty or am I just at a loss? I'm in the same situation with my ASRock Motherboard, which particularly sucks. Any ideas on how I could prove I've purchased the device?

Anyone know what would be the best large (ATX) cube case for my build? Link to build (ignore the case in the list as that is my second choice): http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Gazzer96/saved/1f7I I already know about the Cooler Master's cube case, but I have heard that you have have to mod it to get GPUs like a titan in and I don't really want to do that. I am also planning to get a second Titan in 2 way SLI next year, so there has got to be enough room for that as well. The CPU cooler is quite big as well so the case will have to be quite large as well. The case must also have at least good airflow (which I will need with a 3930K and 2 titans). The price range I am looking at is under £200 ($306.96). Also tell me if I should not both having a cube case and stick with my second choice, the NXZT case or even something else you may know that is better. Help will be Appreciated! :)

Hi guys, im currently running a rig with a AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE cpu and Asus M5A97 Pro motherboard. My cpu overclock is 20*200=4Ghz. Core voltage is 1,44V. Cooler is Noctua NH-D14, and at full load temps never exceed 53C. Ram i use is Gskill RipjawsX 8GB(2X4GB) 1600Mhz, 1.5v, 9-9-9-24-2T All OC features of the mobo are turned on, like full phase power, Cpu load line to the max as well as cpu/nb loadline and current capability of both. VRM is at fixed frequency mode at 200kHz. Any ideas to change some of those or other settings to get higher clock speed?
