If I go for the G4560 I have the chance to buy a RX470 (currently on sale) which is a great combo for gaming. I play ranging from eSports games (LoL) to AAA/GPU demanding games. This all sounds pretty great but I've read that AVX isn't supported by the 7th Gen Pentiums which apparently plays a big part in rendering. If I went for the i3, I'll have to stick with a GTX 1050, not as good for gaming as the RX470 but it would kind of get the job done (would have to obviously lower the quality a lot). I would be rendering around 5-15 minute videos, but it all depends so max 30minutes. I've also read that AMD GPU's are great for edtiting/rendering due to OpenCL, which is also in Nvidia cards but not as evolved. Is there a big difference? I was waiting for Ryzen but sadly the R3, line of Ryzen that would interest me is only going to be released on the 2H and I've already got half of my parts laying around collecting dust and I don't have the ability to wait for half a year. This build would probably be upgraded in 5-6 years as a whole(GPU,RAM,STORAGE), the CPU in maybe 2 years, after two summers of part-times since I need to start saving up for college. Thanks in advance to whoever answers!

So I was playing WOW at the 8 graphical setting and I usually play at that setting and today I opened MSI afterburner bc I was curious of what my frame rate was and how hot my cpu was. Turns out after about 20 minutes of playing my cpu heats up to 90 - 93 C. So for precautions I shut down wow and let my cpu cool off. But I usually play Wow for hours at a time with no crashes. Is it normal for an i3 6100 to run this hot with a stock heatsink? Im thinking of buying a 212 evo for it, should cool it down. Is it dangerous for it to be at 90+ C? also side note I also play rainbow six siege and I havent gotten the temps on that game yet, but I havent experienced any crashed so far.

Hello. I have a system with an i3-6100. I have an i5-4440 that I plan to build another system with. I am curious which CPU would be better. The usage would be mostly for games, and web browsing. The games I play include GTAV, GTAIV, Portal II, Prison Architect, Bioshock Infinite, and BeamNG.Drive. I use a GTX 980Ti, so graphics power isn't really an issue. I would just test them, but I don't have the money yet to assemble the i5 system.

Hey Guys, I run my i3 6100 at 4.5Ghz (1.375v) (BLCK method) and my Crucial Ballistix (rated at 2400Mhz) at 2595Mhz (1.25v) on a Asrock Z170 Pro4 motherboard. I wanted to overclock my ram further as an i3 really benefits from it, but my system then became unstable. I assumed this instability came from the fact that my ram was only rated at 2400Mhz, and it couldn't overclock any further. Standing by this assumption, I went out and bought 16GB of Corsair Vengeance rated at 3000Mhz (1.35v) Problem is, I still can't take my ram past 2666Mhz, even with the new Vengeance sticks rated at 3000mhz. I went around and did some searching online and discovered my motherboard can handle up to 3866+mhz ram (wtf who needs that). I also read about IMC (Internal Memory Controllers) in Skylake chips. I am now at the conclusion that I got really unlucky and got an i3 with a bad IMC. (Can only handle up to 2666Mhz) I know Skylake is only officially listed to handle up to 2133mhz, but i've never heard of anyone being stuck at 2666 max before... Am I screwed until I get an i5/i7? Or is there anything I can try to make this work. All replies are appreciated! Cheers! UPDATE #1 At stock speeds, (3.7Ghz) I can discovered I can run the ram at around 2800Mhz max. But when I try to run the same speed at 4.5Ghz I don't even POST. Maybe this info is helpful?

Hi I am trying to build a budget pc and i have chosen an intel core i3-6100 and i have watched some videos about it and i found some video which said having good memory (ram) will increase fps and reduce frame drops. Is this correct? Someone built me this budget build and i thought it was very good but is it worth changing the memory to a 2x4gb memory from a 1x8gb? or shall i just get the 1x8gb and if necessary i will buy the same ram so i will have 2 1x8 gb memorys? i hope i make sense. anyway in short will a 1x8gb be good enough for the i36100, or shall i get a 2x4gb? also is the memory i actually chose good? thanks and i appreciate all responses as i am not the most experienced http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ynTpBP

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/qkkw3F I'm planing on putting this build together in the near future, and I was worried if any bottlenecking would occur with the processor and the graphics card. If so, I should be fine to swap out the card with something else.] Thanks

I recently bought i3 6100, Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI, and Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400. I found another thread on this forum saying that it was possible to OC locked skylake chips using an OC BIOS, so I downloaded the OC BIOS and got to overclocking. After some initial problems (I don't have a lot of experience :P), I finally managed to get 4.51 GHz on the core, at 1.35v. Now that's stable, and it's pretty great, but it introduced a couple of problems. First, the CPU temp seems to be stuck at 100 degrees in Windows. Second problem is that the computer posts, but refuses to boot if the iGPU is enabled. It boots just fine when it's disabled. I kinda need the iGPU because for x265 decoding (as you can see my GPU is quite old for x265). Any help regarding these issues will be appreciated. Another question, the CPU frequency used to vary with load before I OC'd. Now it just stays at max clock and max voltage. Is this normal and sustainable? Thank you!

Hello everyone, I'm trying to come up with a build to replace my son's xbox 360 since it's about time it gets replaced, so I thought about setting a PC with Steam's Big Picture start automatically, he's only 6yo so I want to make it easy for him. So this build would be used with a controller and go straight into Big Picture for him. Now, I have a tough time deciding between two options. Most builds I've seen use AMD processor since it's more affordable but I've seen recent post that say to better go for the i3-6100 Skylake. So my question is, which of this builds do you think I should go for? Is there anything you would change? Thank you for your thoughts in advance! Is it still possible to overclock the i3-6100 on some motherboards because i remember that Intel said they were cracking down on motherboard manufacturers and telling them to disable the overclocking on no "k" chips.

Hello everyone. Im new here and i plan on building a budget pc. My gpu cards would be either r9 380 or r7 370 or even 360. I do not have specified budget yet and i wanna know how would these cpu perform with r9 380. Im most interested about 860k and i do not know if it will bottleneck r9 380.

I found out that I can overclock a i3 6100, but what motherboard do I need for that? My budget isn't much higher then 100 dollars, please tell me what motherboard I should buy (please as cheap as possible)

So I am currently in the process of upgrading my PC part by part. I have already upgraded my gtx 650 to a gtx 970, and I am planning on upgrading my CPU next, so I could use some help in making a decision. Budget - $300 (I can go a little bit over if necesssary) Current specs: gtx 970 amd fx 6100 asrock 970 Extreme4 (Let's go on the assumption that my power supply will be adequate) Right now I feel as if the best choice would be the AMD FX 9590, it's the highest rated CPU I could find that fit within my price range and would be a huge increase in performance. I'm not confident that this is the best decision, so I would appreciate some help. Thanks!

Hey everyone thought i'd show off my first build I did a lot of research have made a few mistakes along the way like getting an fx-6100 but i will soon replace it. I chose my case to be the Zalman Z11, there are many reasons for this, one i was looking for something that would break away from the traditional box look that most cases are using. The case was also inexpensive allowing me to spend more money on the insides which is what really counted for me. As a side note this case i really bad for cable management, it doesn't include any grommits except two water cooling ones at the back of the case and there isn't much room behind the motherboard tray. That being said if you take your time and really plan out the cable management you can make it look pretty clean. Specs CPU: Amd fx-6100 @ 4.5ghz (Soon to be swapped out) Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 Motherboard: Asus M5a97 R2.0 GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7870 PSU: Diablotek 575watt Fans: 3x Enermax blue led, 1x blue gelid wing and 1x stock zalman blue led HDD: Seagate momentus xt 500gb If anyone has any suggestions on how i could improve on it let me know! It's constantly a working progress and I'm open to any feedback you guys/girls have! Here's the side of the case, sorry if it's a little cludered and i don't have a good camera as you can see but it will have to do. Here's the front of the case where you can see I have 2 fans one is a gelid wing the other stock from Zalman. The Gelid wing is undervolted and only comes on when I really need it. Here's the top of the case where there are 2 Enermax fans. Both of these are mounted on the inside behind the grills so it gives this cool scally effect. There's no room to mount them directly under the fins. Here's a shot of the inside of the case and of my cable management skills. I think i did a decent job considering that this isn't the best case for cable management and I have a non modular psu. The top cables are the front panel cables and I plan on hiding those by cutting a hole through the top of the case which will directly run to the back of the case so those cables won't be visible anymore. Here's a slightly close shot. Here's a shot at the custom grommits i've made, they're made from foam paper which can be bought at any dollar store. All i did was cut a rectangular piece out and wedged it under some cables at the back and it stayed in place so no need for glue. I find it makes the build look much cleaner. Here's what my whole rig looks like at night. This isn't the same room as the one in the photo's above as this was taken in my dorm room but you get the idea. And that's it hope you guys enjoyed and again if you have any suggestions on improvments shoot them to me!

I recently got a Akasa X4 CPU fan and it's amazing. I was using the stock AMD fan (Which is made by Foxconn just with a AMD sticker) and I was idling at 32°C. That I hope is respectable for a 600 - 900 RPM Fan, But i hated it but now I idle at 10°C and I play CS:GO at 40 - 50°C and I don't crash (overheat) The fan works with LGA-755, LGA-1156, LGA-1366, AM2, AM3 and FM1 So I'm just saying this is perfect for anyone wanting a new CPU fan. -Source LINKS---------------- www.akasa.co.uk/ www.akasa.co.uk/update.php?tpl=product/cpu.product.tpl&no=181&type=CPU coolers&type_sub=Retail cooler&model=AK-968 Sadly they're UK based but I think they ship to the USA and EU.
