I seem to be experiencing screen tearing on the 2018 4k Dolby HDR 120hz CMI 43 inch tv. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the fake 120 even tho it's a 60hz panel. But Linus himself said that he couldn't tell a difference. It's only during fast movement scenes with small ish lines. Almost like if you look at a video of skyscrapers with a lot of windows but more common than just the occasional object. This is just watching Netflix and TBH I don't even notice it when I setup my PC in the tv room and start gaming. This seemed to get better once I turned " micro contrast " off but I'm not sure if it's just me because now I can't tell a difference and it seems to look better with micro contrast. Like it fakes HDR on non HDR content. It's also unavailable on HDR content. Anywho if anyone has any advice that would be useful. Other than that I love this TV and I guess I could learn to live with the tearing.

Hello, Im thinking about buying Benq Xl2540 240hz monitor, but I'm afraid of tearing... For games like "PUBG" it's really hard to gry stable fps... what happens when The frames drop to 100-150fps? I know The monitor doesnt have gsync nor freesync... but still its expensive.. Is There an owner of this monitor on this forum to answer that question? My setup: i5 4690k + gtx 980ti Thanks..

I have an ASUS VG248QE monitor and ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II graphics card. I've had both for 2+ years and have been working great until now. I cannot use my monitor at 144hz because it has really terrible tearing/fuzzyness. It works fine if I set the refresh rate to 120hz or lower, but certain games still act up if I play them full screen. Playing windowed usually fixes it. If I try to do a print screen, the tearing doesn't show up. I think this started after playing Antichamber, but not sure. Tried a new DVI-D cable and got the same effect. I'm thinking about trying displayport next. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here's a cellphone picture of what it looks like. The photo doesn't capture this, but the tearing is constantly refreshing so it looks like fuzzy, similar to a TV channel that is static-y. It kinda looks like a double image:https://imgur.com/a/akrv1

So I always seem to have issues with this but, I have built a PC (somewhat complete) that is missing a graphics card, leaving me with the Blue Team to render my polygons. I am still deciding which GPU to buy and there are 2 options: GTX 780/Ti or RX570 4GB. Whichever card I will buy will vary between how I feel about the vertical sync, since I have a Free-Sync monitor I have the choice to buy and RX-570, however that is about 100 pounds (in the UK) more than a 780, which actually outperforms a 570 (http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-780-vs-AMD-RX-570/2164vs3924) by 5%. So I was messing around in Far Cry 3 with some settings, V-sync Max Frames, and GPU pre-rendered frames (both set to 1) and the game seemed quite smooth for 40 something fps, at least compared to CS GO. I know I can force these two settings in the Nvidia-Control Panel, but do they actually help with V-sync stutter or are they essentially the same as double-buffered v-sync? Any body with a good understanding on how to fix V-sync stutter in games? No, Fast-Sync won't work No, Adaptive-Sync won't work No, nothing else usually works, I just want some sort of fix for V-Sync and Tearing.

How do I fix this vsync and stutter thing on low fps? do i alt+tab (heard it works from somewhere)? Do I play in window mode? Any way of universally fixing the stutter of vsync on nvidia cards? No, adaptive sync wont work no, fast sync wont work no, no sync wont work I'm about to blow my balls off if i have to spend 50 more bucks just to get an rx 570 for freesync.

i am getting a lot of screen tear in portal and i know i need to cap my fps to 60 as thats what my monitor runs at and im getting 300 fps in game but i cant figure out how to do it.

Hello, I'm having problems with intense screen tearing. Ever since I got my new 1070ti a week after its launch, near the top of the screen, there would be tearing if a horizontal/vertical figure is moving along it for way too long. I tried Vsync in games and it wouldn't stop. I went into the nvidia control panel and turned on vsync to on and adaptive with triple buffering on yet, nothing. I have my monitor overclocked from 60hz to 75hz, but I tested the default setting, it solved nothing. I don't know if this is an issue with my gpu or my cable but it really bugs me, especially in youtube videos. This hasn't happened to me with my old card, the 1050ti so I'm not sure what is going on.

I bought new monitor. Its asus vp247hae 1080p, va panel 24 inch monitor. When i plugged it in i saw lots and lots of ghosting on text. Went into game and its unplayable. Dark colors are smearing all over the screen. Since I'm playing cs go when i run into dark lit room and I'm moving i basically cant see nothing. I'll upload few pictures of screen while scrolling through some text and ill post link go google disc for gameplay in cs go. Btw i tried hooking up to different PC, tried different cable, went out and bought most expensive hdmi cable i could find. My old 1680x1050 hp monitor witch is way older didnt have any problems like this. http://prntscr.com/q4oome (monitors side by side, new one is left old right. Clearly visible the lines on old one are cleaner ) http://prntscr.com/q4oouv http://prntscr.com/q4oozy (scrooling through the text, not scrolling like a maniac, just basic ,bit faster scrooling) http://prntscr.com/q4opll https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cjzKpUeD2oNmoKNpLnUE4XzEZg8R-CI0/view?usp=sharing gameplay of me playing cs:go. If u ever playd this game u can see moving my mouse will cause lots of disturbance on screen.

I bought zotac GTX 950 AMP edition yesterday. I have an old 1366x786 res monitor. I am getting very good graphics and fps but the whole screen seems to thin lined. I can see pixel lines in game. Is there any way to solve it??

I recently set up my tripple pg279q surround setup powered by titan xp sli. I am running into a lot of problems besides the obvious rendering of some games unplayable G-Sync seems to only work for the upper 75% of the screens there is a very noticeable tear line near the bottom of the monitor that appears in every game even when the frame rate is in the g-sync range. Another problem is that my monitors wont go higher than 120hz when in surround if I disable surround windows can display all monitors at 165hz but for some reason the nvidia driver wont let me set them to the max. I have tried running DDU and reinstalling my drivers I re installed windows twice and did a clean install of nvidia drivers but both problems are still present. Note all my monitors are plugged into one card. Any advice on setting I could try or if there is a fix for this are greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone, so I a computer (specs below) for my livingroom to use as minor gaming / htpc, we've been using without a problem for about 2-3 weeks, I hadn't really tried gaming on it, mostly to watch movies and my son plays a lot of minecraft, so I decided to try it out and play some COD Ghosts and everything was going well until I started a match, I get bad screen tearing (see picture), I was reading about checking the refresh rate and they're all set to 60Hz so I don't know what can be the problem, any help is appreciated. I'e noticed since my upgrade to a Gigabyte G1 R9 390 about 2 - 3 months ago that many easy-to-run games, such as CS:GO, Fallout 3, and other similarly challenging titles have started to suffer from severe tearing at times, due to the massively exceeded 60 Hz refresh rate. Though V-Sync can solve these issues sometimes, it can also result in other issues and for some reason can interferes with graphical mods (Can anyone explain?). Would it be possible to solve this issue by Under-clocking my GPU to achieve roughly 60-80 fps without V-Sync? Does this cause any other issues that I'm unaware of? I came up with this possible solution while thinking over the issue, does anyone have any experience doing it?

I have 2 questions: 1. I have a Logitech G502 and G710. They are both set to automatic game detection, and I created a specific profile for Minecraft with some macros. As I was selecting the file location of the game so that my peripherals would automatically switch to my Minecraft profile when I open it, I could not find an executable for the game, just the launcher. I selected that, and it does not work. Just to try, I checked whether it would work on the launcher itself, but it didn't. My other profiles work when I launch other programs, so I don't think anything is wrong with Logitech. Any help? If it's just not possible, I will just have to manually switch the profiles which will be really annoying. 2. I attached a quick clip of Minecraft gameplay. That visual anomaly: is that tearing? Just want to make sure as I barely game. I know that tearing happens when your graphics card outputs more frames than your display's maximum refresh rate, and you eliminate it by using V-Sync which may introduce lag, so adaptive refresh rate monitors were made. I tried going to the Nvidia Control Panel and manually selecting V-Sync for Minecraft (MinecraftLauncher.exe) and limiting the maximum framerate to 60 fps, yet nothing changed. Is there any way I could eliminate it besides buying a G-Sync Monitor? Thanks in advance Tearing in Minecraft.MOV

Hi! I got a problem with my screen/GPU/OS I don't know which... It has this kind of problem: Notice that weird glitch that appears split-second on 0:03-0:04 That doesn't seem so bad but I didn't managed to capture worse case because it happens randomly. It appears that it happen often when I have many programs opened and tabs on Chrome browser. It also jigger-jaggers all over the screen like it has a some kind of pattern. My specs are attached on jpg below. 1. monitor is BenQ 5 years old FullHD 60hz G2410HD Digital. 2. monitor is acer with 1680 x 1050 (unsure wheher 59 or 60hz) and unable to retrieve further specs. Thank You! PS. This computer has been built by my friend who works at some sort of computer part store where he disassembles parts. He said that case is pretty small but sufficient. Sometime case gains a lot of heat and I turn it off for extra safety for some time to cool down.

Hello. I've spent the past few days trying to solve this issue to no avail. I'm honestly starting to get a bit of anxiety about it because I'm afraid it's indicative of an impending hardware failure. The issue: Lately I'm getting 'vertical tearing' in basic desktop tasks. For instance, when I mouseover a context menu, the highlighting effect behind the text has tearing (one side will appear before the other). I've observed this in Chrome, Steam, Skype, folders, and the Start menu. I rarely, if ever, get any tearing in gaming or video (at least, none that in-game vsync can't fix). It seems to be specifically a '2D' tasks issue. It occurs most noticeably when I have video playing in Chrome (eg. Youtube, Twitch). Context menus / bookmark menus / windows which overlap the video will have bad tearing when gliding the cursor over the menu items or scrolling through an overlapping window. This also occurs even on the Windows Start menu. However, the issue has also been seen in areas where no video is playing; for instance, on the Steam discussion forums when moving the cursor over the threads, even if Steam is the only thing open at the time; or on Skype, when the chat window scrolls up. It occurs on both monitors (both 60hz). It occurs with Aero on; it occurs with Aero transparency set to 'off'. This issue does not occur when using a Basic theme. Attempted fixes: - Updated graphics drivers; Reinstalled graphic drivers clean - I've tried many different vsync/buffer settings via the Nvidia Control Panel, for both global and program-specific. To no avail. - Ensuring video/monitors are set to 60hz (it's the only option) - Turning various Aero settings off (e.g. Aero Peak). - Monitoring temperatures (well within acceptable range for all components) - Turning ON a Basic theme DOES fix the issue, from what I can tell. Though this is not ideal, since the Basic themes have their own syncing problems inherently, and I do use some Aero functions day to day. Attempted diagnostics: Checkdisk, Memory Diagnostic tool, sfc scan, malware checks ... all came back clean. System specs (custom built): - Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (SP1, Build 7601) - CPU: Intel i5 3550 - GPU: EVGA GTX 570 1280MB - MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77MX-D3H (latest BIOS) - RAM: 8gb DDR3 - PSU: Antec NeoEco 620w - HDD: Western Digital 1TB (Nothing is overclocked. No recent hardware changes.) Does it sound like hardware is failing or is it an OS issue? If anybody could give me some more advice as far as diagnosing / fixing the issue, I would greatly appreciate it!

I was trying to record Fallout 4 with OBS and everything was going fine. But whilst I was moving around at the start of the game the screen was tearing a lot. I stopped the recording and looked back at it and there was no tearing or lag whatsoever. I have no idea why, whilst recording I run at 60fps. But whilst just playing I'm always at a solid 144fps. Help? EDIT: If you're having the same problem I went over my settings again and some of them seemed to have been changed to their default settings. (Nvidia Control Panel)

I'm looking for a gaming monitor, but I'm still not so sure whether I need Gsync or Freesync or just a regular 144Hz monitor. One thing for sure, the biggest monitor I can fit on my desk is a 24" monitor because I will be having dual monitor setup. I already have an Asus 23" 60 Hz IPS monitor, and I'll be using it as a secondary monitor for browsing the web and stuff while I'm gaming on the primary monitor. I have $350 budget right now, but I am willing to wait and save a bit more if necessary. The main reason I'm looking for a proper gaming monitor is CS:GO. I play CS:GO a lot, but the screen tearing that happens while I'm playing CS:GO on my current Asus monitor is just too annoying, and Vsync is totally out of the question because of the delay it causes, so basically I need to get a 120 or 144 Hz monitor. My question is, is a regular 144 Hz monitor enough to eliminate that screen tearing completely or am I still gonna notice a bit of screen tearing? Honestly I don't like the idea of having to choose between Gsync or Freesync because it kinda restricts my future GPU upgrade path, and I don't like to just stick to one particular brand. I know I don't have to stick with the Nvidia-for-Gsync or AMD-for-Freesync principal, but still, what's the point of having a Gsync monitor if I'm gonna use AMD card? I want to be able to choose whichever one is offering better performance and value for money. However if I really have to choose between Gsync and Freesync, I'll probably decide later when the next gen GPU from both Nvidia and AMD is out because I am also planning on upgrading my GPU this year.

Recently I attached a Dell UP2414Q 4k monitor via displayport to my new computer. I have then come across these errors with no of knowing how to fix them. Those are pictures of the errors that are occuring during my use. I have updated all Dell and Nvidia drivers. I have tried connecting my computer to a different UP2414Q i own and got the same result. I replaced my graphics card and got the same result. I also tried 3 different cables and got the same results which to me means its a driver/software issue. If anyone can direct me in the right way to solve this I am happy to take and try all suggestions. I also am running windows 10 64-bit and a MSI GTX 980 TI. Here are more photos after changing to my other PCIE slot X8 more suggestions are always welcome!

Just as the title states: what's the best monitor? I've seen quite a bit of people say 1080p and maxed out settings is overkill, so the 1440p is better because you'll get the most out of it with said card. Is it better to get a 1080p g-sync monitor with ~144Hz? Is g-sync even necessary? How should I know tearing may be an issue? I'm mostly worried about screen tearing and would really rather a 1440p monitor. I don't want to spend more than $600 and even that's pushing it. I just want it to be worth my money and guarantee that tearing/other graphics problems are not a frequent issue. That's all I can think of to ask right now... will add more later if anything comes to mind. Edit: I suppose my main question is... 1440p with a refresh rate greater than 60Hz or 1440p, any refresh rate, with G-Sync? Does G-Sync really make that much of a difference since I have a fairly decent CPU and GPU? Won't V-sync tie up the loose ends? Here are all of my specs if necessary. Hey'all, lately I've been getting a weird issue with my asus ux305f. When the cpu is under a medium or high load, nothing happens at all, but when it is under low load or even idle, the screen starts tearing around and glitching seriously often. One "fix" I found was to open cpu-z and let the stress test run non-stop, but if I ever want to do some work, I need to turn it off and at the slightest load drop or pause I get tearing again 'till I start working quickly and using the cpu heavely, and if I try to work with the stress test on it takes me a really big time to do anything. Any tips or help for this? Specs: intel M 5Y10 @ 0,80GHz 8GB ram intel hd 5300 screen resolution @ 1280x720 no scaling. (But it came as default with 250% scaling at 3200x1800) windows 10 pro

I'm aiming a LG 24GM77 144Hz, 1ms gaming monitor. This one has a lot of positive reviews, but since G-Sync and FreeSync are evolving quite nicely, a question raised inside me: Is it WORTH the time waiting and the (a lot of) extra money for those upcoming monitors? Or should I just bang the goddamn LG, since its price is like half or even 1/3 of some monitors, and I don't have a problem gaming on FullHD res, since my monitor will be sitting pretty far from me, like 4-7feet (and lower res is a lot easier for the GPU to drive). Given that refresh rate, most GPUs can't render fast enough to cause tearing on most 3d-intense games. For the stuttering matter, at lower fps, the 144Hz rate gives you a maximum 7ms of extra stutter compared to a varying refresh rate capable monitors (FreeSync and G-Sync), since 1000/144 ~ 7ms. So, the smoothness upgrade is not as obvious as going from an IPS 60Hz, which usually takes 1000/60 ~ 17ms for a frame to change compared to 7ms of a TN 144Hz (or even a lot of IPS soon), which is more than twice the speed. Since the stutter elimination in the new technologies doesn't give so much of advantages, given the GPU is not that slow to always have a low framerate, to possibly cause a 7ms stuttering every now and then on a non G/FreeSync monitor, do you guys think the 24GM77 keeps up to the task (of course we're not talking about color acuracy and viewing angle here)? Or everything I think about those rates and stuffs were wrong? Please help me, thank you guys. Update: after buying the 24GM77, I'm quite satisfied with it. Of course the colors were a bit disappointing no matter how hard I try to calibrate it. Kind of regret it thinking it could replace my U2412M. But given the smoothness of everything, it quite worths it, especially when I sit infront of my desk 8+ hours a day (I'm a music producer). The stuttering problem when the fps drops below the refresh rate is only noticable when it gets down to 30 or lower (which even G/FreeSync starts to show its limitation, although they can support the smoothness for a bit lower fps). At higher fps, it's almost unnoticable, thanks to its incredibly fast refresh rate (~7ms each scan). Therefore the need for those RR syncing for me isn't that crazy anymore. Given I'm skipping 1440p and will jump right into 4k in the future, which might take a long time for both panels and GPUs to develop. Maybe at that time, panels will just implement a super high RR and the need for syncing will just disappear (say 1000Hz or even 500 will do, since 144 is already doing a bit of the job).

Hey eveybody, I saw a lot of Videos on YouTube lately handeling the said topic. I for my Site am just wondering soo much because i got a panel that most of you would probably describe as crappy. An old, old HP 2309v 1080p 60HZ Something monitor. The wierd part comes now: I really do notice the Differences of a G-Sync Monitor in these Demos but I can't observe ANY Tearing on my own screen. I nearly always turn off Vsync, just i kind of feel "better" that why, cant explain why. I use a R920x together with an FX 8350(Yeah, i wish i did buy an better CPU here bu who cares) so i get easyly over 60 FPS. The Games I play differ from Battlefield over Starcitizen to Starcraft and League of Legends so a wide spread here. The question I just have is if I'm just too ignorant to even notice Tearing( in wich case I dont understand why you would buy some Sync stuff) or if there is the possibility that my pannel just doesnt have that for some reason ... Greetings from Germany and thank You very much, Jo

Im guessing a video would explain it best: Most of it is fine, but half of my ASUS monitor is screwed up.
