I have a Gigabyte Aorus b450 wifi pro that I used for a while with an AMD 3700x and 4x8(32Gb) of RAM. I recently decided to upgrade some parts and one of them was the CPU to a 5800x, well I did the BIOS update not knowing that it could create issues of incompatibility for the RAM if I did not install the EC FW Tool prior to the BIOS update. I tried installing it afterward but had no success since it keeps failing the install. Now I can only use 2 DIMMs at a time for some reason. My only solution at the moment is to downgrade the BIOS to a previous version and with an old CPU install the darn tool and after that upgrade the BIOS once more and finally install the 5800x to make work the RAM (trying to avoid that solution if possible). Any suggestions??!!

Hello , I’ve currently been having an issue where my pc can’t run like any games for more than 1hr without crashing to windows … I have an i9 13900k , rtx 4070 , Rog strix z790 e gaming wifi mob, 64gb of 6400mhz ddr5 corsair rgb ram ,… and an evga 1000w gold plus psu … whenever I load up apex legends or csgo 2 or call of duty my pc crashes to windows before the game can fully load up .. what could be the issue ? Because I’ve had the pc less than a year … I lt hasn’t done anything like this until recently within the past I’d say 3 months I can’t even play the new lethal company game for more than 30 minutes without my pc closing the game ..

My PC is old , lowend and has these following specs: Psu inplay 200 rated 800 generic power. Amd A8-7680 8gb 1600 RAM hyper x (dead) 4gb 1600 RAM teamgroup (dead) 2gb 1333 RAM idk No gpu 128 gb SSD 250gb HDD I was using my PC for some light gaming and school works for quite a long time. I love to tweak its settings and download softwares, I tried adjusting settings for ram and turning on channel interleaving and such. Just last month my pc has been encountering BSOD frequently (kernel_power) . Then i changed my psu to a slightly better one . After that it seems that my PC is good as new and running well i also reinstalled windows 10. While playing Farlight(low settings and is not a demanding game). I , again encountered a BSOD (critical process died) then my PC restarted and booted just fine. It rarely happens (at first) then I tried to troubleshoot it , I deleted AMD radeon (the launcher that i downloaded) because that is where the dump file from bosd lead me to. I uninstalled it and everything seemed fine for a few days. I decided again to experiment and shit after few days. Ive downloaded gigabyte center , and this is where the chaos started. I installed the update for amd radeon graphics driver (i believe ) as well as easy tune. I ran easy tune and it doesn't seem to work ( i also think i dont know how to use it) . After that i restarted my pc because the app says so, to my surprise my pc fans spun and lit up but it doesn't boot and read peripherals , at first i thought it was the motherboard but I asked for help on reddit and someone adviced me to check the ram and alternatively test it oneby one and slot by slot, and i did. My 8gb ram turns out to be dead, I didn't know what happened but I thought it might have something to do with the Gigabyte app center. After ive known that the 8gb ram was faulty i then removed it and used my spare old 2gb ram with a different frequency then tuen rank and channel interleaving again. Again everything was fine . My dumbass again (today) tried to update and install shits like SIV and @bios update from Gigabyte app center . My pc restarted then it booted up , then i thought maybe it wasn't the problem after all. I played farlight again and suddenly BSOD (critical process died) again and i thought it was one of those BSOD that isn't severe but no , it was , my 4gb ram is now also dead and the one that survived was the 2gb . This the current state of my PC it only had 2gb of ram running windows fkin 10. What do you guys think? I really cannot troubleshoot it and find the root of all of this (except for me lol I am theone that did all of that shit). Could it be the PSU?,Channel and rank interleaving?,Gigabyte app center?, Virus?, RAM?, or Other hardware problem? Also I cannot upgrade to an entry level or higher PC yet. Pardon my grammatical errors

Budget (including currency): $120-150 for motherboard, $20+ for RAM upgrade (i'm ok with buying used) Country: Belarus Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: No plans to play anything newer on this system, software development for now, running NAS with a bunch of docker containers and a linux vm. My MSI X470 GAMING PRO died couple of weeks before, so now i have a hand me down b350 (it's a super cheap MSI board) with ryzen 3700x from a friend (with an idea that when i get new MB i gonna sell his stuff and pay him, with no need to rush though). I'm planning to do full upgrade in about a year from now and use this mb+cpu+ram in my NAS. Right now i'm looking for two things: motherboard and possibly RAM upgrade. For motherboards i'm mostly looking at ASRock B550M Pro4, but concerned with polarizing opinions and reviews. I want to be able to overclock as much as possible for this budget (i have an NH-D15 and pretty good airflow with 5 140mm case fans). Also as it's gonna be working 24\7 (without overclock) later in NAS, better VRMs look appealing. I'm mostly concerned about ram OC capabilities (some people write that the fail to get even 3000 xmp) and bios options (as my MSI X470 kinda had a really bad bios). Also want to leave myself an option to later upgrade to 5900x-5950x (like really-really later when 3700x would be insufficient for NAS\Server use case). With RAM, i now have on my hands 4 sticks of G.Skill F4-3000C15-8GTZB (8gb SK Hynix) and 2 sticks of Kingston KHX320C16D4/8GX (8gb), with 4 sticks i'm able to run them at 3200 16-17-17-34 (tRC 55). So my question is, are there some go to bang for the buck 16 gb sticks by now so i could have 32gb with just 2 sticks and have higher clocks (as far as i understand i 3700x should be able to run with 3600+ memory). If it's much more expensive than what i have now i'm ok with what i have, but if it's like $20-30 to get from 4 sticks at 3200 mhz to 2 sticks at 3600+, i'm already gonna sell a bunch of hardware why not do a little upgrade.

Hi all! Question again because it keeps bothering me. Sorry for discord video. Dont have any other. So when I turn on pc it always goes thru cycles of lights like that: orange/red/white/green and powers on(like in video) . No problems at all just weird it does it everytime. Its a newbuild and only just wanna ask it might be fault that Im using xmp ram on amd cpu? Enabled expo and working fine except its very slow on start up getting to windows(slower than my other 7 years old pc with gen 3 nvme) Cpu temps seems high as well around 40c in bios on 7800x3d (50+when browsing) compared to that I just builded another pc and 13700 with smaller rad has in bios 33c. Please let me know if it is normal because I am considering returning ram and getting expo ones if that is causing such slow start up. Hello everyone! My computer was damaged from an old roommate, but I have saved certain items. As of now, it's up and running, and here are the specs: Asus Tuf b450 gaming plus ii, Ryzen 5 3600 with a 220w tower cooler, 2x8gb XPG 3200 mhz, ASRock Radeon RX 6600 8gb, MSI A750GL, and WD 1TB SSD. I'm looking to improve overall speed, and improving FPS wouldn't hurt too. I was considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X, but unsure if I should upgrade to 32gb of RAM? I know 3200mhz is what is supported, but this is my first build, and I'm really not quite sure what the right move is. I'm also unaware of how to properly set up my BIOS to maximize efficiency without burning out my system (I have no idea how overclocking works lol). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hey everybody! edit: I'm so sorry for such a long post, really needed to vent this First of all I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this kind of thing, it's literally my first post here. I'm not sure if I need/want help at this point, just really want to vent my experience and break down what happened to get some inputs/feedback if there are any. English is not my first language so I'm sorry if I say anything silly. About a month ago I bought a 2022 Asus Zephyrus G15 GA503RS laptop on a physical IT store nearby. It came with 16GBs of RAM and an empty slot. As I was buying it, I asked the store guy to get me a compatible 32GB ram stick, and ended up getting a "Team Group SO-DIMM 32GB DDR5 4800Mhz Elite CL40" so that I could upgrade it to 48GBs. Once I arrived home and was opening the laptop to install the new ram stick, I noticed the seal was broken. I should've just stopped there and see it as a red flag, but thought maybe they just opened it to test something and didn't think too much about it at the time. (but I did take a photo just in case) The laptop came with no operating system. My intention was to run Linux on it since it's what use on my daily job, but eventually decided to install Windows just to make sure everything was working properly. At first I didn't get any issues with the laptop (was just installing stuff / setting up my environment / there was no real work load on it), but after a week or 2 I had to go to the office and finally got to use it properly. Shortly after running VirtualBox on it and get some work done, the computer froze and got some screen artifacts. There was nothing I could do, so had to force shut down. Once it came back to life I started looking for possible GPU problems on reddit, and shortly after it froze again. 590f3e.mp4 Since the laptop came with no OS, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I screwed up installing the drivers, and on the following days I spent some time making sure everything was properly installed. I've assembled my previous 3 desktops, have an engineering degree and my previous (still functional) laptop, a Toshiba L850 has been up a running for the past 11 years with all the maintenance (and several replaced parts) done by me, so the Tech in me tried to "solve the problem" instead of playing dumb and just returning it to the store. After double checking everything, the laptop would sometimes still crash. I disabled sleep mode since it also seemed to be an issue (it would sleep and not come back) and from time to time it would also freeze on the boot logo (before getting to the BIOS) e04209.mp4 Shortly before the 30 days return policy and since I was going to return it without the ram stick, I gave it a last shot and tried to run MemTest86 to see if there were any obvious red flags. 41 seconds into the test (booted from a USB drive, so there was on OS / drivers in play) the laptop froze once again. I then removed the extra ram stick, ran everything, and... after 2hours, it PASSED. I then went to the store and tried to explain the whole troubleshoot process, gave them images/proof and told them to consider a faulty ram stick or a faulty ram slot. I didn't find the original package for the ram stick, but I had a couple anti-static bags from HDs at home, so I did a nice package to transport it. They said something like "We can't declare it as Dead On Arrival since you already installed an extra stick, but we will send it to Asus RMA" Well... I kinda understand that I "tampered with the device", but how would I find out about a faulty slot without ever using it? Or a fault ram stick without using it? It's like buying a new motherboard, attaching stuff to it (it's what they're made for) and then have some guy saying "well, now that you changed the variables, we can't promise you anything" At the time I was like "Yeah well, whatever, just put everything I said and done on the report and send it to Asus". I'm aware that Asus only takes the "original configuration" on their RMA process, so I asked if I should keep the ram stick to myself or leave it with them. They insisted that I also keep it there, since it could be a stick problem, so they would try to test different sticks on it and also run tests on that one. The process took about 2 weeks and then I received an e-mail saying that everything was ready to be picked up at the store. Once I got there, I asked the guy (this time was actually a girl) if they could tell me the report feedback and she was like "Yeah sure, we haven't looked into it, but they usually leave a written report inside the package" I went to read it and it said something like: "Problem solved. The laptop presented some weird noise on the speakers, and they were replaced under warranty" I was speechless. Didn't they read the whole thing about the crashes and the ram? There was no double check on the report made by the store? I couldn't care less about the speakers, I never even used them and have no idea there was actually a problem or not. The "good news" is, they opened my "tampered device" and found nothing wrong with it. I then asked if they even tried to troubleshoot the second ram slot, and they were like "Oh, since it originally comes empty, Asus will not test that". So... I can now start selling laptops with faulty slots because "the empty ones will not be tested anyway", how does that work? I asked for my ram stick and the lady started looking for it (oh god) saying it had to be somewhere... it was sent without any packaging just stumbling around on an empty card box. Now I started getting really angry and trying to fight for my rights, it was no longer about "helping them troubleshoot the thing", I wanted to see something getting done. The ram stick has a life time warranty (whatever that means) so I asked if they at least concluded that there was a problem there, and the lady tells me "Well, if you want, you can leave it here and we will test it for you" Lady... You guys have been holding it for the past 2 weeks, wasn't that the whole point of leaving it here? She ended up apologizing for the whole thing, asked for 1 more week there and said they would RMA it again to Asus while trying to make sure the original report was accounted for. Any input you guys can give me on this? What are my options here? Any known policy on empty slots? How can I ask them to make sure they work since "they are unused on the original configuration"? I get the feeling I'm gonna end up with my money burned on this, they will take no accountability for the whole thing and just say "it is what it is".

Hey everyone! Just making this post to ask for some advice regarding some new RAM I've installed. I'm making my wife a gaming computer so we can play stuff together, and I got her some new Ddr4 TridentZ RGB ram. 16gb of the stuff. In Bios, it's detected. But only 1 stick's RGB is functioning, as I'm installing windows. Is this something that will correct once installation is complete? Or is the RGB light bar on the DIMM faulty? The rest of the system is composed of a bunch of old parts and new. It's as follows: MSI B360M BAZOOKA LGA 1151 mobo (refurbished from newegg) Intel i7 8700k CPU (used from friend, but saw it working before we took it out of her pc) Evga supernova 650 watt psu (used from me. Working) Zotac gtx 1070 (used from me. Working) Patriot p210 2tb SSD (new) Samsung 980 pro 256 Gb nvme M.2 SSD (used from me. Working) Cooler master i71c RGB CPU cooler (new) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pics attached.

I’m wondering if there are any common RAM comparability issues or general issues I should watch out for. I figured I’d ask if there are any general issues I should be concerned about. I’m new to PC building, so I apologize for my ignorance. (P.S. I’m semi familiar with the issues regarding static electricity and DDR compatibility, but I’ve got little information outside of those.)

Budget (including currency): $1,300 CAD ( USD) to $1,350 CAD ($ USD) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: - A single thread maxed at 100% most of the time (while doing 3d animation in Blender with line-art animating, but really really simple shading) - while other cores/threads also working, though probably not 100%. Other details: These 3 above are part of a bundle deal: - CPU: 13600kf - MOBO: ASUS Prime Z690-P ATX PCIe 5.0, DDR5 Model: PRIME Z690-P WIFI - RAM: TeamGroup T-FORCE VULCAN 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL38 FLBD532G6000HC38ADC01 I want to buy this bundle before it sells out, and I'll figure out the other parts this week. I should be left with ~$650 Cad for Psu, Air-cooler and case. But before buying the bundle, I'd like to know: - Are the Mobo and Ram good? - Can I buy a good, reliable psu, air-cooler and case for ~$650 cad? - A psu that won't blow up in 5-10 years (or ever), - and an air-cooler and case that won't let my pc throttle/get damaged from overheating. - how big would the case be? - note: I'd prefer an air-cooler. - note: I'll probably use my old old gpu for now. - current monitor: 1080p 60Hz 23 Inch Lcd (HP w2338h) - I may want an air-cooler that can cool a 14th gen cpu if possible. How much would that cost? An article said this air-cooler can cool a 14900kf iirc: - DeepCool ASSASSIN IV Premium CPU Air Cooler, Dual-Tower, 120/140mm FDB Fan Configuration

4 ram stick sometimes causes windows BSOD but on boot only.
NoiD27 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
So I added 2 more rams of Team Elite Vulcan TUF 2x8 3200mhz. These are same model, die, and timing as what I have been using. I am using these on a Ryzen 5 3600, and B450 Aorus M with F64 bios. I have been experiencing a problem when sometimes BSOD will show but only when booting to windows. But when it does successfully boot to windows, everything seems to be stable. I have verified stability by running OCCT for half an hour. Running it on 3066mhz seems to eliminate the problem. I am wondering if I can fine tune the settings so it would run at 3200mhz stable. Update: Fast boot was causing BSOD. However I noticed that 1st boot is always stable, but when I restart it would become unstable. -
I’m getting 14900k with z790 formula and asus 4090, can’t decide what ram kit I should be getting. Thinking of getting 48 or 64gb at around 6000-6800 speed. Any recommendations? Has to be white is the only thing.. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welp these last weeks have been quite frustrating due to some very weird issues caused by unforseen forces. I built my pc around 2-3 weeks ago, it booted up fine threw it different stress benchmarks and all results were quite normal (xmp was on and all the latency and voltages were manually picked by the ram manufacturer so no manual oc). After a week or so of use i started getting bsods and weird freezing accompanied by apps crashing due to "low" memory even though i had 32gbs of it, and bios was detecting both sticks with nothing out of the ordinary. So i took out both sticks (16gb 6000 mt/s cl36 1.35v) which were mounted on a2 and b2, so the a2 stick passed the memtest on all dimm slots no problem but the b2 stick failed on all slots with immediate errors on memtest on specific locations and up to 15k errors. Decided that maybe i had gotten a bad set of sticks i got a exact new pair with rma and got them installed into a2 and b2 again, both of then passed memtest with and without xmp on. Fastforward a few days and all of a sudden i get memory management bsods and apps acting funny once again which got me very frustrated so whener the issue would occur i would just restart my pc then it would work again untill it didnt. Tested each stick which a2 stick passed the memtest on all dims but the b2 stick failed on all slots yet again, but the weird thing is this time the errors were always on the 3rd test and around 40-70% with around 13k errors in a split second. On memtest you can choose which cpu cores to use for the test so i gave every core a go and it always failed around the same place regadless of the core i chose. So what the hell is killing my ram? Was i just super unlucky and got bad sticks twice? Right now i sent the motherboard and the rams to get checked and if they find no user faults i'll get a refund to buy something new. Can someone please clue me on what is wrong with my pc? Really lost here. Thanks. Hi everyone, I have an issue when i decide to use the highest speeds of my ram, I've an ASUS STRIX Z790 E WIFI GAMING, which should be able to support DDR5 7800+ MHZ, but when i activate the XMP in the bios, it wont even start Windows, while putting just the highest speed, it will start windows and then crash after few seconds, the ram im using are the G.Skill F5-7800. Thanks if anyone has any idea or tip I can try to use to fix this "problem", I know the pc goes just fine, but you know that it leaves a bad taste knowing you have a faster MHZ to use but still can't

I upgraded from 16gb to 32gb of ram a while ago and never had any issues until I started playing modded minecraft with my friends. When I crash it tells me that it was unable to allocate memory and even chrome told me it couldn't open a tab because it couldn't find enough memory. I have task manager open on my other monitor when it happens and it detects all 32gb but only 16gb shows as ever being used. This doesn't stop everything from crashing though. When I upgraded I got the exact same kit that I had already, just had to disable DOCP and re-enable it after putting the new sticks in. Budget (including currency): $500 - $550 (CDN) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games, Meta Quest 3 Other details I haven't upgraded in quite a few years, so I'm pretty out of the PC hardware loop. I tend to only look into things when I'm considering upgrading. I was thinking of picking up a Meta Quest 3 for the kids for Christmas and that got me wondering if could upgrade my PC to handle some PC VR as well. Also, it would be nice to play some normal PC games too (like Alan Wake 2, Baldur's Gate 3 and Half Life: Alyx) . Current PC is listed below. Intel Core i7-8700 RAM 16 GB DDR SDRAM 1333Mhz GPU NVIDIA RTX 2060 6GB SSD Motherboard MSI B360M Pro-VDH The first thought was to upgrade the video card, but I'm not sure what the current best value would be. So I'm looking for suggestions (I was thinking a 4060, but I have had a Radeon 6750XT recommended as well). Also, would anything else be worth upgrading as well? (like RAM etc). Also, it could be that this PC is past the point of upgrading and needs to be replaced, so that would be good to know as well. Thanks for the help!

Hey, for the past few weeks ive been getting a BSOD. Its taken me time to narrow down why but im usually getting the stop code of 'WHEA_UNCONTROLLABLE_ERROR'. Usually when i play games both a short or long period of time. Ive also looked into the event logger and found the event 46 id: A fatal hardware error has occurred. Component: Memory Error Source: Machine Check Exception The details view of this entry contains further information. Could it be something I need to do in the bios? or my hardware? I struggled with the bios when I first built is as I dont really know what to do. Ive reinstalled my ram twice but have not done a deep look behind the motherboard for any stratches. Ive also reinstalled my graphics drivers a couple times and seen no good results. I have a custom built pc built around 3 months ago but my issue has only really just come up. I have not done any overclocking Motherboard: MSI B550-A pro CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x 8-Core GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3060 ti RAM: 16 x2 (32gb) at a current speed of 2400Mhz Storage: NVME M.2 SSD 1TB I'd appreciate all the help I can get. I am planning to use the Asus ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI II for my new build with a i9-14900k. The plan is to use a Corsair Dominator Titanium 2 x 48GB 6600MT/s CL32 kit. (https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/memory/cmp96gx5m2b6600c32/dominator-titanium-rgb-2x48gb-ddr5-dram-6600mt-s-cl32-intel-xmp-memory-kit-cmp96gx5m2b6600c32) Now; this specific kit is not shown on the compatibility list (https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-e-gaming-wifi-ii/helpdesk_qvl_memory/) (Make sure it's on 14th gen.) All though the RAM does in theory fit within the motherboard specs for speed and size. I have doubts on how up-to-date/complete the compatibility list is. Based on the list there is only one supported set that can fill the claimed 192GB capacity. On the other hand: The Intel website also only claims "Up to DDR5 5600 MT/s" for the CPU, whilst it obviously can handle much more. So; would it be a safe bet to get this set of RAM in this build?
