Hello! My name is Govind Joshi, and I'm a 15 year old from Texas, USA. I was astonished by the desk PC build log, for it seemed like a very innovative idea! Therefore, I would like to recreate the project, with a few changes suited to my own needs. The 2 major changes are to the shape of the desk, and the lack of water cooling. I have attached the blueprints I created for this build, and I have just a few questions for you. How would I supply power to the fans on either side of the table? One thing to keep in mind is that I will be using the Silverstone Fan Hub. Secondly, is water cooling necessary for a custom build like this one? I am not going to overclock, and it'll just be an everyday use PC with gaming on the weekends. Also, I'm not familiar with using LED Strips; the only ones I found had to be plugged into the wall. I'm sure there are strips that plug into the motherboard itself, so do you have any recommendations? Lastly, Are there any big problems with my current plan? Feel free to point out anything you'd like! One final question I have, is that is it possible to get personal sponsorship from corporations for something like this? What is the process for applying for sponsorships? I know for a fact intel isn't gonna send me an i7 6950x, but I would like to at least try to approach these companies. I would be more than happy to "spread word" about the companies and their products, but the only people who will listen are maybe the 6 other tech nerds I know of from my school. Thank you for reading through this, and any reply will be greatly appreciated!

For the past hour AT LEAST a lot of people have been posting builds and stuff and ive had a bit of fun helping them. But I forgot about my build, My lovely pc that I may of dropped once by mistake... I don't know what to upgrade. I was thinking about the GPU but I want your guys opinions. Here's what I got now. i7 6700 Deepcool Gamerstorm 240 AIO (I wasn't thinking straight when I got it and kinda liked the bulky design of it) Crucial Ballstix Tracer 16gb Ram (2x8gb) B150M-A D3 Asus Motherboard MSI RX 480 RM 750i PSU (I'm going to be honest this is overkill I use less than 350 watts under load) Too many HDD/SSDs to count (But enough storage for me) And I've probably forgot something aswell, Dont know what though.

planning mini-ITX Build In The Raven RVZ01-E
thehobbitin3d posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hey there, So I'm currently planning my new build. I want the build to last, so two core components are the RAM and the CPU. I'm going to list what I have, and what I'm going to need below. CPU: i5 6400 COOLER: Something low profile RAM: 16 GB DDR4 GPU: XFX R9 380 4 GB (own) PSU: XFX 550W TS (own) MOBO: ASRock H110M-ITX SSD: Kingston UV400 240 GB (own) CASE: Raven RVZ01-E I have most of it figured out, but I'm still trying to figure out if I want to wait for Zen, my concern is that with new hardware comes a price premium, and there might not be any mini-ITX mobo's at launch or close to launch. I'm trying to figure out what CPU cooler I want to use, because price gets really steep here, and considering all I want is a dead silent PC, that's not something I'm willing to pay extra for aestethics, because from what I've come up with so far from my research, is that the CPU coolers do little to nothing to actual real world noticeable performance. It's either throttling or it's not throttling... So, what else should I spend some extra time researching? If anyone knows of any good articles, doesn't matter how long, then please let me know. I'm trying to learn a lot about this subject in beforehand, so that I can avoid mistakes before they happen. Budget is not a concern, but that doesn't mean I will go out and upgrade my GPU, etc, I want a balanced build which can perform the following tasks: - Handle a multi monitor setup without any noticeable performance drops - Multitasking (programs open at once), PaintShop, HitFilm, game (any Steam game really, will dynamically change graphics settings to improve performance), watch a Twitch stream at "Source" quality, studying (typical document(s) and research (multiple browser tabs). For reference, my current PC specs are: A8 5500, 4 GB RAM, R9 380 4 GB, XFX 550W, Jasmine 7778 mobo, generic "HP" case, loud ass case and CPU cooler fans. So in conclusion; I want a dead silent PC in a tiny case at both idle and under load, I want to be able to perform my everyday tasks without hiccups. I have spent a ton of time researching so far, so I thought I could expand a little bit by posting on LinusTechTips. Thank you in advance for any input! -

As you may have read from the title, I'm forming a plan for a parts-list that I will be putting together to create my first computer build. For this build, I am focusing on implementing the most "valuable parts" - I'm trying to put my money (up to $800) towards 'reliable' components that should last me a while. I already have peripherals and another new Windows 10; no need for more. This PC will mainly be used for plainly web surfing and occasional gaming, with the inclusion of video/photo editing and 3D designing - somewhat a medium load overall. After trying to do an extensive amount of my own research, I have come up with this list below: (All pricing originates from Newegg) CPU: $219.99 Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor *It's not overkill or as expensive as an i7 such as the 6700(K), yet it still offers a lot of bang for your buck, especially with its overclocking potential. CPU Cooler: $19.99 Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler *It will keep a moderate overclock cool without killing the budget, although I am considering getting a Corsair H50 closed-loop cooler. Motherboard: $110.98 Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard *A lot of features with stability (during overclocking, although this is controversial...) all at a decent price point. Memory: $39.99 Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory *Allows me to have decent memory without breaking the bank - I can always add a few more sticks later. Storage: $59.99 Sandisk SSD PLUS 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive *Don't worry - I do not store tons of things on my computer like some people do; I'm a minimalist (the largest amount I have ever had stored on a computer was 120GB, as of now); I can upgrade or add a HDD later down the line, keeping my system of the SSD for speed. Video Card: $239.99 MSI GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 HDCP Ready ATX Video Card *Pretty darn good price for the 6GB version, 3GB will fall short for my intended applications, perfect amount of power for me, and I think that MSI is alright... right? Case: $33.99 Corsair SPEC-03 Red ATX Mid Tower Case -or- $29.99 Rosewill Stryker M ATX Mid Tower Case *Both have USB 3 on front and designs look fine, price is right, but Corsair fits the color scheme (black/red), while Rosewill has 3 fans (blue), not the 2 from Corsair, and also has better airflow, yet doesn't have front or rear dust filters. What do you guys recommend for the case? (Sub 40-45 with USB 3 and window?) Power Supply: $44.99 SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply * Good, reliable brand, with plenty of power - 1,000 watt is overkill unless you have 3 or more graphics cards, pretty good price and semi-modular Total: $760.91 What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Thanks! (this build is for Black Friday...)

This is continuation of this thread: I got my new case (Define R5) and now I'm going for a component upgrade. See the other thread for more info on what I plan to use the computer for. I've received a gift card for a particular store so my component choices are somewhat limited. My budged is ~600€ and the goal is to purchase a new motherboard, CPU + cooler, and RAM. I've gone over the components in the store and picked out the best ones as far as I'm concerned. My selection is most limited with the motherboard and cooler but I don't think there are any issues with those. I would like to know if anyone has any comments regarding the compatibility of my new build or suggestions for different components. I've gone over all the specs to the best of my ability and as far as I know all parts are compatible but I'm not a 100% sure about the RAM as it did not appear in the qualified vendors list of the motherboard. PCPartPicker list of my planned build including most of my existing components. I am aware my GPU is old, I will upgrade it later. In short I plan to buy the following components: Motherboard Asus Z170-A LGA1151: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/Q9Gj4D/asus-motherboard-z170a I also considered Asus SABERTOOTH Z170 MARK 1 but the integrated fans can apparently be loud and not that I really care but the board looks really weird. Asus Z170-DELUXE was also a possibility but is rather expensive. They are all different versions of the same board by pure coincidence. I went through about 60 boards comparing them with Specout and picking the one with all the features I need. (I.e. USB 3.0 which simply did not exist in any boards under 100€.) CPU Intel Core i5-6600K: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/gx648d/intel-cpu-bx80662i56600k I checked out various out i5's but this one had the biggest numbers on cpubenchmark.net and 4 physical cores instead of 2 physical with 2 logical each which sounds better to me. Cooler Probably Noctua NH-U9B SE2: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/Y4fp99/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhu9bse2 120mm, cheap, Noctua, and fits the socket. It works. I considered Cooler Master Hyper 212X but the Noctua one is probably quieter with the larger fan. On the other hand the Cooler Master has a greater fan speed range which also sounds good to me. I'm a little on the fence with this one. RAM Kingston FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB): http://pcpartpicker.com/product/jzfmP6/kingston-memory-hx421c14fb2k216 I definitely want 2x8 GB to allow for future upgrades. I'm pretty sure the motherboard supports it. However according to the spec sheet the XMP profile doesn't differ from the stock speeds? I don't think I need to overclock the RAM but the motherboard allows for it so I guess it could be nice to do. These 4 components come to about 600€ in the store I'm going to get them from.

planning Advise: Gaming/Game Dev Rig on a budget
Julius_zekken posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hiya! I just like some insights about my future pc build. I'm planning to build this rig this coming December, and as of the moment I already have the parts all chosen out. I'm from Philippines and the total price of my future rig is around 715 US$ (including the monitor) getting the parts from this website https://dynaquestpc.com (this is the best/cheapest local computer shop where I live). I wanna use it for gaming with atleast high settings, some Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, Unity3d. I also don't want to overclock. Case: Aerocool Aero-500 MidTower Processor: Intel Core i5-6500 3.20-3.60GHz Skylake Mobo: MSI H110M Pro-VD Plus Graphics card: Palit GTX 1060 Dual 3G GDDR5 192Bit RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 2400 (BLS8G4D240FSB) HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB WD10EZEX PSU: Aerocool Strike-X 600w PSU 80Plus Bronze Monitor: AOC M2060Swd 19.53" M2060Swd WLED Vga Dvi (native res: 1920 x 1080 ) If you could recommend better parts or disagree on my choices, please feel free to give your honest opinions. Thanks in advance. -
So I'm currently planning out a future build (probably won't make any purchases until I get work bonus early next year), but I figured I would post up my thoughts and ideas and see what you guys think and get some input on my ideas. 1. Budget & Location I'm ok with spending ~3k USD, right now the build sits ~3.4k on PCpartpicker. 2. Aim I'll be using this computer for a variety of things. The main reason I'm looking at the dual socket boards is to reduce times spent rendering in Solidworks. I know that most tasks the processing power won't be needed, but with the rendering it scales extremely well as you increase processing cores. I've also started using VMs running all sorts of different OS setups. Finally, it'll also be used for gaming. Most of the games I currently play are fairly mundane, but even games like ARMA 3 with a bunch of mods or The Division, this is definitely not needed. I also do some very mild audio editing, but it isn't the primary reason for this build (or even a secondary). 3. Monitors Currently, I'm running an Asus 27" 1080p monitor as my primary monitor. I also have a 55" 4k TV that I use when watching videos or playing games with friends (i.e. FIFA17 and NBA2k17). I would like to eventually grab one of the LG ultra wide monitors, but that is back burner right now. 4. Peripherals There aren't really any peripherals that I feel need upgrading. I'm pretty happy with how my current keyboard/mouse work and my headphones are a relatively recent purchase and sound great. 5. Why are you upgrading? If I'm honest, this build really isn't needed since my current computer is more than capable of doing 95% of what I want to do. This build is more because I enjoy building computers and I will have the time and money to do what I want. That said, I'm happy to hear what you guys think about the list of components that I've got picked out so far: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2630 V4 2.2GHz 10-Core Processor ($649.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2630 V4 2.2GHz 10-Core Processor ($649.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L12 37.8 CFM CPU Cooler ($56.88 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L12 37.8 CFM CPU Cooler ($56.88 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus Z10PE-D16 WS SSI EEB Dual-CPU LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($469.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Crucial 32GB (4 x 8GB) Registered DDR4-2133 Memory ($211.98 @ Directron) Memory: Crucial 32GB (4 x 8GB) Registered DDR4-2133 Memory ($211.98 @ Directron) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Storage: Samsung 750 Evo 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Storage: Western Digital Red 4TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($149.75 @ OutletPC) Video Card: NVIDIA Quadro M4000 8GB Video Card ($766.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: SeaSonic PRIME 750W 80+ Titanium Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($155.98 @ Newegg) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit (Purchased For $0.00) Total: $3380.41 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-11-15 17:56 EST-0500 I'm actually working on the case in Solidworks and was planning on getting it made by Protocase. I can thank Linus for this, but it also would go along with a lot of my audio stuff I already have on racks. This is a render I made in solidworks of my idea last night. Each end of the L would have a rack mount enclosure with a door. I haven't quite decided on how the door should look but I'm definitely going to have a mesh insert so that air can circulate with the door closed. The back will be open to allow access to the rear of the components that are in the enclosure. I know that the render shows the other end having a second case, but that is only because I was being lazy and copied the entire enclosure over to that end. In reality, it will most likely be used for extra storage using rack mounted drawers. Each enclosure is 16U in height, which puts the desktop right around 30-31 inches. In the right side enclosure I'll have my PC (4U), mixer (3U), power amp (2U), drawer 3U, and an undetermined rack mounted UPS (2U). Assuming I have everything installed in that order top to bottom I would have .25" gap between the top of the case and the top of the enclosure, I could then leave a 1U opening (~1.75") between it and the mixer and another 1U opening between the mixer and power amp. With what I have right now, that would leave the other enclosure empty for more expansion later on. Anyways here is the render of the desk. The desk length along the long leg is 96" and the short leg is 78" depth is 30" with a 1" overhang on the front side of the enclosure. Once I come up with the door design, I'm going to try to make it as close to flush as possible with the top while keeping the numbers easy to measure with a tape measure. Still have a few other things to work out with the desk design, but it's getting close. The big thing with the PC stuff is that it will all need to fit inside this rack mount enclosure that is 17"x27". I do know from doing mockups in solidworks that the SSI EEB motherboard and a standard ATX PSU will fit side by side as long as the PSU is on it's side. There is also a ton of room between the front edge of the board and the rear side of the front panel. Anyways, now that you guys have seen what I'm planning on putting this into and seen the specs, I want to hear some opinions on things you would consider.

I will be using this for all around gaming . I need the budget to stay around 1000 with os http://pcpartpicker.com/list/V7j7RG

Hey guys, I've been struggling on deciding my next upgrade path and it would be great to have you opinion, currently I have... MB - Rog Strix B350-F Gaming GPU - GTX 1080 Rog Strix Advanced CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600 RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3000Mhz CASE - Phanteks Eclipse P400s - (Front panel modded to improve airflow) PSU - EVGA 750W Platinum CPU COOLER - Dark Rock Pro 4 GPU COOLER - NXZT Kraken G12 + NZXT Kraken X52 What I want to upgrade is the GPU, to an RTX 2080 and I'm between these two... EVGA RTX 2080 FTW3 Ultra Hybrid Rog Strix 2080 OC If I go for the EVGA one, it would mean that I'll have to remove the Kraken X52 (240mm) from the front of the case and place the 120mm rad of the EVGA... OR ... Replace the Dark Rock Pro 4 with the Kraken X52 and place the 120mm rad of the EVGA at the back of the case. If I go with the Strix, I could either leave the DRP4 where it is and stick 3 fans at the front of the case to improve the air flow, or ditch the DRP4 and use the Kraken X52 for the CPU at the cost of airflow due to the front rad. So in summary... what do you think is the best? Fully Watercooled - EVGA Hybrid (back of case) + Kraken X52 (front of case) Partially Watercooled - EVGA Hybrid (front of the case) + Dark Rock Pro 4 Fully Aircooled - Strix + Dark Rock Pro4 Partially Wattercooled 2.0 - Strix + Kraken X52 (front of the case) Some notes... This build is only for gaming. 2k monitor - 144hz Butcher the Strix to attach the Kraken G12 + Kraken X52 is not an option.

Hey guys. I'm currently in the process of building a PC online on a budget at ~$1500 AUD and would like to get some feedback on it. *Note* that this is all being built on www.centrecom.com.au CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6 Core Processor - $193 CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X Universal CPU Cooler - $49 Motherboard: MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC AM4 ATX Motherboard - $228 RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 2666MHz Memory - White - $121 GPU: MSI Radeon RX570 ARMOR 4G OC DDR5 - $209 Storage #1: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - $62 Storage #2: Western Digital WD Blue 250GB 3D NAND M.2 SSD - $58 PSU: Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 500W 80+ Certified Power Supply - $59 Case: Thermaltake Versa N27 Mid Tower Case - Black - $79 Case Fans: 4x Cooler Master MasterFan Lite 120mm Case Fan - White LED - $76 ($19 x 4) Operating System: Windows 10 - $155 Assembly - $90 TOTAL: $1379 In truth I want this PC to outperform this, both processing and graphic-wise. I'm planning to OC the 2600 upto 3.6-3.8Ghz and so I'm conscious about temperature of it and thus additional fans (also it adds more aesthetics to it). Now I'm worry about whether or not that there will be enough system fan headers for said fans and if they need to use a hub of some sorts for it.

When buying used PC parts, what should I look for when inspecting the hardware and software? What kind of questions should I ask the seller? For my scenario: I found a few Craiglist ads for a 1080 GPU, M.2 NVME SSD, DDR4 3200 RAM, and an Intel Optane SSD. The seller provided some screenshots of TechPowerUp GPU-Z, CrystalDiskInfo, and Thaiphoon Burner results. The seller will meet at a grocery store, so testing each PC part beforehand does not seem like an option. I've never built a computer before, but I have done a ton of YouTube watching in the past month. I'm looking to build my first PC and hoping you lovely folks could enlighten me.

First of all any help is much appreciated. I have never built or done major upgrades to a PC before. TLDR: Are new GPUs compatible with Legacy bios? What are my options? I have a Dell XPS 8700 that I would like to breathe some life into. It has an i7 4790 CPU, 24 gigs of RAM, SSD, couple HDDs, and a really outdated and basically useless GPU. I am hoping to upgrade the GPU and also the power supply. The long term goal is to build a new PC at some point but I figure the GPU and PSU are a good start that can be swapped to a new build. After doing a bunch of research about size requirements (the case is constrained, MOBO obstacles, etc.) and measuring I am hoping to get a 5700 xt or similar. Then I read about BIOS compatibility and people said new cards (especially 3rd party AMD cards) often don't work with Legacy bios. Is this true? Anyway around this? I went into the BIOS settings and the computer is indeed in Legacy BIOS, the drives are MBR etc. so if there is an issue can I use an MBR to GPT converter on boot drive (or all drives?) and then boot in UEFI mode? I really appreciate any insight that you may have!

Hi everybody, i'm a first time builder planning on starting in a couple of weeks. If you see something strange or you should do something differently please let me know. I'm buying the parts in the netherlands. My budget is around 1500 euro for the pc itself and another 500 euro for a 1440p 144hz monitor. I'm planning on playing the new AAA games and the populair as League of Legends and CSGO on the high settings. In the future I want to do some overclocking as well. My part list: CPU - Intel Core i7-8700K CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition Mother board - MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC Memory - Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 DDR4 3000 mHz Storage - Samsung 860 Evo 1TB 2.5" SSD Video Card - MSI GeForce RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G Case - NZXT H510 Power Supply - Corsair RM750x (2018) Monitor - MSI OPTIX MAG271CQR Feel free to ask anything or post a a comment. Note - I choose for an Intel instead of an AMD even though I know that AMD is much cheaper and almost the same performance. I don't mind paying some extra for the Intel.(Fanboy already?)

So I built this computer two years ago. I figured it was time to re-evaluate my build. I personally don't think any upgrade makes sense for this build but I wanted the opinion of others. Let me know if there's any financially logical upgrades I could make to my build. Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-09 Let me know what you think of my setup! The reality is that I don't have the money to just get a 2080ti or a ROG Swift PG27UQ so this post is really for evaluation, feedback, and more importantly future upgrade plans (when and what) Thanks All
