Hi I recently bricked my motherboard after purchasing a new r7 5800x. Since I need a new mobo anyways, is it recommended to just refund the new cpu, and go am5? I was thinking this was I would atleast be better off for gaming and have more upgradability in the future. I currently have a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 2060. I don't know a lot about computers so I'm not sure whether I need to upgrade my motherboard or whether It would be fine. I have a ROG STRIX B-450 GAMING II. I would upgrade my motherboard if I have to but i'd rather not if it's not necessary, but I understand that it might be overkill and would rather upgrade if it meant that i was going to cause any harm to my computer. If I was to upgrade my motherboard would that mean that I would need to find one that is also compatible with all my other parts as well as my new CPU? I've also heard people saying that I may need to upgrade my BIOS motherboard settings? How would I do that/know if that was something that I need to do? Appreciate any help anyone can offer :).

Hello ' I'm sorry if this is allready on the forum, but I did not find any help at this moment. Computer working fine! next day no image (motherboard VGA error and Boot error LED) Asus 360 F ROG, Intel. Fast conclution - Only boot / post image on a NON CSM Graphics Card. (The Compatibility Support Module) in BIOS. PC - did run ok with a old GTX1070. But then I got this error. Things I did try. - Replace the GTX1070 with a other 1070 card. Still VGA error and no boot. - I removed the card and run onboard Graphics. Still VGA error and no boot. - I tryd a GTX660 - PC show image and auto turn on CSM mode. Win boot and all is ok. I also did try new PSU 750 and 850watt. I cant manage to get picture on the screen with any ''new'' Graphics card or with the onboard Graphics. So The UEFI Bios . dont get picture and give VGA error LED. If I try a GTX660, bios auto turn on CSM and PC works fine. Did Clear CMOS, and I did flash the bios and update it. Still no help. Is the motherboard UEFI broken? Thanks !

I am taking apart a laptop that had coffee spilled on it and the coffee didn't make it past the keyboard and I only saw traces of it in a motherboard screw. The keyboard ribbon feels stuck I have tried tweezers and very carefully with pliers but to no avail, there is no flip-up thing. Is there something I can use to loosen it up?

Building my first 'powerful' Gaming PC.. Hi all, I need help troubleshooting why a motherboard would have lights on but not boot up. This is a complete build that's been working for years. I opened it to clean it and reconfigure the AIO. After putting it back together i can't get it to power up. I’ve already tried: Checking the CPU and reseating it (even though I didn't remove it before) Removing and reseating ram, and using one or more sticks alone. I’ve checked and replugged power cables (24 pin + 8 pin) I’ve removed and put back the graphics card, even tried without GC in. I’ve disconnected all cables to the rear IO. And ensured power switch plugs were seated. I've jumped the 24-pin on the PSU and made sure it's working (Fan turned on). And nothing, motherboard LED are on, but nothing else is. What could I have done wrong? Parts: Asus Strix X570-E Ryzen 7 3700X 32G Corsair Vengeance 3000 GTX 1060 Update: I cleared RTC Ram with the jumper and it started for a few seconds getting to code 15 (Initializing stage) then turned off and went back to unbootable. Update 2: It was the 24-pin plug, that was moving in its socket because it was tensioned over time. hard to notice.

Now when reading more about it theres alot of people saying that it will need a bios update. How would i do this? Or will i not need this? I have no clue how to do this. Hello, I've recently built a pc with amd 5800x and gigabyte b550 gaming x2 that has FC version bios. Having all other components connected, I have power on but no display. The moment I switch the cpu with 5600g, it boots up to the bios menu. Otherwise, power turns on but no display. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi when I use a 3.5 mm headset I get good audio but my mic super low even after maxing it out in windows and any app , also it picks up desktop audio. When I use a USB headset everything works fine . My drivers are all up to date and the bios too . I guess I have an issue with my soundcard , any ideas what I can do ?

So a relative of mine gave his used hdd to me for data transfer, I have connected to my pc through sata port. When I powered up my pc motherboard leds were on (I guess it was the cpu and dram) and computer didnt boot up so quickly turned of the pc removed the hdd. PC is working fine but when i power up cpu and dram leds are turned on and off in 2 secs and when the dram led turns off a click noise is coming from the psu i think. What do you guys think?

So, I recently upgraded my PC with a new motherboard and CPU(the ones listed above). I am having issues getting a display on the monitors, prior to this upgrade the pc had a Ryzen 7 1900 and a GA-AB350 Gaming 3 Motherboard with no issues, simply wanted to upgrade. The lights on the motherboard are as follows after pressing the power button: Green (BOOT) light and White (VGA) light which are constantly on. The monitors definitely work and I have tried different cables and also tried reseating the components. I initially thought I might have inserted the GPU incorrectly but it was fine, everything is seated as it should so I have no idea. I have also attempted to clear the CMOS, I tried to use the jumper and also by removing and reinserting the CMOS battery. Nothing has worked so far. I bought new HDMI cables that will arrive today, will update if anything helps. This has consumed half of my day and I have no idea what to try next, any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I'm currently building a system intended to be used as a router and am in search of a motherboard and CPU combination. The key requirement is support for dual 8x PCIe slots, with at least 2.0 speeds. I'm aiming for the most budget-friendly option available, ideally from the used market here in the UK (so eBay, FB marketplace etc). In terms of specifications, I'm prioritising power efficiency over performance (even a Pentium etc would suffice), as it will primarily run OpenSense or similar software. However, the upfront cost is more important to me. The system will be operating headlessly most of the time, so while an integrated GPU is a plus, it's not necessary. Hello , I’ve currently been having an issue where my pc can’t run like any games for more than 1hr without crashing to windows … I have an i9 13900k , rtx 4070 , Rog strix z790 e gaming wifi mob, 64gb of 6400mhz ddr5 corsair rgb ram ,… and an evga 1000w gold plus psu … whenever I load up apex legends or csgo 2 or call of duty my pc crashes to windows before the game can fully load up .. what could be the issue ? Because I’ve had the pc less than a year … I lt hasn’t done anything like this until recently within the past I’d say 3 months I can’t even play the new lethal company game for more than 30 minutes without my pc closing the game ..

My MSI X470 GAMING PRO died couple of weeks before, so now i have a hand me down b350 (it's a super cheap MSI board) with ryzen 3700x from a friend (with an idea that when i get new MB i gonna sell his stuff and pay him, with no need to rush though). I'm planning to do full upgrade in about a year from now and use this mb+cpu+ram in my NAS. Right now i'm looking for two things: motherboard and possibly RAM upgrade. For motherboards i'm mostly looking at ASRock B550M Pro4, but concerned with polarizing opinions and reviews. I want to be able to overclock as much as possible for this budget (i have an NH-D15 and pretty good airflow with 5 140mm case fans). Also as it's gonna be working 24\7 (without overclock) later in NAS, better VRMs look appealing. I'm mostly concerned about ram OC capabilities (some people write that the fail to get even 3000 xmp) and bios options (as my MSI X470 kinda had a really bad bios). Also want to leave myself an option to later upgrade to 5900x-5950x (like really-really later when 3700x would be insufficient for NAS\Server use case). With RAM, i now have on my hands 4 sticks of G.Skill F4-3000C15-8GTZB (8gb SK Hynix) and 2 sticks of Kingston KHX320C16D4/8GX (8gb), with 4 sticks i'm able to run them at 3200 16-17-17-34 (tRC 55). So my question is, are there some go to bang for the buck 16 gb sticks by now so i could have 32gb with just 2 sticks and have higher clocks (as far as i understand i 3700x should be able to run with 3600+ memory). If it's much more expensive than what i have now i'm ok with what i have, but if it's like $20-30 to get from 4 sticks at 3200 mhz to 2 sticks at 3600+, i'm already gonna sell a bunch of hardware why not do a little upgrade.

Tried to update my rig, the new stuff Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX ATX AM5 AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor Deepcool GAMMAXX 300 R 40 CFM CPU Cooler Kingston FURY 32 GB (1 x 32 GB) DDR5-5600 CL40 Memory I kept this GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Video Card (one fan bby) Aerocool KCAS 650W 80+ Bronze (very old psu, might be the problem?) 2 SSD 2,5s (tried unplugging one of them during troubleshooting) Motherboard and CPU should be compatible without any bios updates. What was happening: I turn the PC on It starts up the fans They all light up, but one of three in the front stops and turns on again, cpu cooler's light flickers. DRAM stick's RGB turns on last. During that CPU LED pops up for a second and turns off, then DRAM light stays on. During that I can't turn the PC off without giving it a good old reacharound and turning off the PSU. What happens after I unplugged and plugged stuff back. All fans start right away, but CPU cooler's light still flickers. LED - CPU on and off, then DRAM lights up untill the RGB on the RAM stick turns on! Then it moves to GPU and stays on. GPU fan is spinning. I can turn off the PC with the front button now. Monitor not posting in both scenarios. I can't try to install RAM or CPU to a different computer at the time. What's concerning: Motherboard has 8+4 pin power connectors to power up the CPU, but my PSU only has one 8 pin. Although I saw that's enough for stock rigs. Motherboard and CPU are compatible no bios update required (gigabyte website), but I don't see my ram in any compatibility lists with motherboard or CPU, PCPartPicker doesn't have an issue with this combo though. PC Repair shop fella thinks I bent the pins on the motherboard... CPU cooler's mounting took a lot of strength (first attempt at AM5 mounting and amd sockets in general) and now I'm afraid they could be right. They say I shouldn't check if I did it or not, I should just give it to them to check out (yeah right). 650W PSU should be enough based on a weak GPU and 7500f having better TDP numbers compared to my 13 yo Intel CPU previously installed, right?! Hello everyone, i hope you're having a nice day Last time i came around was because of a trouble caused by my Fan-Hub (Which i eventually resolved thanks to you people) But now im here because of ANOTHER Problem which im really tired of trying to solve by myself (I've been trying to fix it for two days straight) Anyways: I've been using these fans for 3 Months, as i told you before i had some problems which i fixed eventually but now (Out of nowhere because they were working just fine 2 days ago) i've been having this problem where my PWM Fans (The ones i've been using) Aren't recognizing any configurations (Neither in the BIOS or other programs like Fan Controller) I've tried everything, changing the FAN Header, changing the fan order, restarting the BIOS By taking off the battery, turning on and shutting down, etcetera Like i said before, everything and it's still won't work Funny thing is that when i start up the computer the fans get kind of fast, but just a little (E.g. Before this problem happened my fans went full-RPM when i turned on and after some seconds went back to normal, same happens now but with really low RPM) I even tried changing the curve to 100% which doesn't work! Interestingly, the CPU fan works normally... Proof of the problem: This is how it looks at Gigabyte SIV I've got my theory that some way or another it's stuck in Voltage mode but im not sure on what to do-

Hello everybody first time posting here , I'm due for an upgrade and I'm planning to swap half my desktop system with new parts. I will change my old motherboard with a new one, a new CPU and an air cooler. My thinking is that since I still have decent memory inside ("Corsair Vengeance LPX" 2x8GB @3000MHz : 16-17-17-35), I should buy some more instead of replacing it. I've heard that in order to have a better chance for system stability, ideally I have to install the exact same pair of modules. I'm probably just paranoid over nothing, but here are my questions: The RAM I've found and will probably buy is a kit of "Corsair Vengeance LPX" 2x8GB @3000MHz : 16-20-20-38. Is there going to be a problem if the timings are not identical? The new motherboard I bought is a "Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite Motherboard Micro ATX", with specs that support 3200MHz and 2933MHz, but not 3000MHz that is the RAM I have. I guess it will default at 2933 for every RAM when I enable XMP and it will be indistinguishable. Am i wrong here? Is there anything else that I should check so I'm 100% sure everything is goint to work properly? Thanks !

I am looking at building a second pc to sell. I am on a tight budget so I found a cpu (i7 6700) with a motherboard. Now my cpu (i5 8500) is in a asus h310m-k which has no m.2 slots, now the motherboard coming with the new cpu (i7 6700) has 2. I want opinions on what I should do. Either swap out the motherboard and downgrade my cpu but increase storage capabilities, or keep my current setup with the limited storage capabilities, or anything that you can recommend. Everything else on the motherboard is the same E.g. ddr4 ram. Please help!

I have tried to research on my own, but I'd like some other people's opinions before buying. (Will be buying on Black Friday) Budget (including currency): Under £1000 Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I play a lot of older games but some newer ones I'd like to be able to play are: Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 2/3/4 Remake, Yakuza 0, Persona 3 Reload, Fatal Frame/Project Zero Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Silent Hill 2 Remake. I also need to be able to run virtual machines, for my college course, I'll need to run a Linux VM and a Windows 7 VM at the same time. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have a really bad prebuilt I bought in 2021 (i5-2400, GTX 1650) and I can't do much with it. I bought a prebuilt because it was basically impossible to get a GPU (I regret it though). I have never built a PC myself, so this is my first time. I'm not buying any more peripherals right now. I have one monitor and it is a 1080p 75hz, I plan to upgrade to two monitors and with a higher refresh rate at some point but will probably be sticking with 1080p. I will be using Windows 10 as my OS, for Linux I will just be running in a VM. I'm upgrading so I can run the games I can't currently play and so that I have a decent computer for college work, since I'm doing Computing/Computer Science. Right now I'm mostly unsure about motherboard choice, I've been looking at several reviews for B650 motherboards and I'm stuck between the mATX ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 and the ATX ASRock B650 PG LIGHTNING. If there's another motherboard I should consider though, please also let me know. Basically, I'm not sure if it is worth the extra to buy the ATX board or not (I will be using an ATX Mid Tower case either way I think) I don't care about Wi-Fi on the board since I always use wired connection anyway. The two DIMM Slots on the mATX don't bother me, since I'll be buying 2x16GB and sticking with it. Also really sorry if this is me being stupid but the mATX board doesn't have RGB headers, but in the completed builds using it, there are several with ARGB fans on, how is that? I've had a look through the manuals but because I've never build a PC myself, I'm not entirely sure what slots/ports/headers/connectors I should be looking for. I plan on using this PC for a long time after I build it. So I don't mind spending a bit more on certain parts if it's worth it or makes upgrading down the line a bit easier. Reasoning Behind Other Parts: CPU: I chose the Ryzen 5 7600 since it's the cheapest entry point to AM5, and with AM5 I likely have a good upgrade path in the future. Cooler: I chose the AG400, I don't really know what makes a good cooler to be completely honest, so advice about this part would be appreciated. RAM: I'm looking at a 2x16GB 6000MHz CL30 kit because that seems to be the recommended speed/CAS Latency from what I can see. I don't understand the RAM Timings though so I haven't taken that into account. GPU: The 6700XT seems to be the best value to performance right now, and it has 12GB of VRAM. Case/Fans: I don't want to spend too much on a case, I can't reuse my current one because it has terrible airflow. Ideally I'd like a white case with a mesh front, glass side panel and ARGB fans, I'd also prefer an ATX Mid Tower as that's what I currently have. This is how I settled on the Antec NX410. PSU: I picked one based on the cultists PSU tier list. My estimated wattage for this build currently is around 400W - x1.5 and that's 600W, the PSU picked is 750W - I don't know if it's overkill or if it's okay since I won't need to replace it when upgrading in the future. I cannot stress this enough but I would really appreciate any advice at all. Thank you.
