A while back the plastic around the hinge of my Dell xps15 broke, I bought a replacement piece and installed it and everything seemed fine. But when I go to switch it on the power button only lights up when I hold it and the rest of the laptop doesn't switch on (I cant hear any fans working) I tried unplugging the battery and running git through just the charger but the same thing would happen. I left it to charge over night but nothing changed.

I have recently decided to upgrade a prebuilt computer containing a i7-4770 Intel CPU, without a graphics card to a one with a RTX 2060 SUPER. And upgrade the PSU to a Thermaltake SMART 600 80 PLUS. Problem (Question more like): My Mother board is a Dell Optiplex E 93839. It has a 8 pin conector which i can make with 2 of the 4 pin connectors from the power supply which is no problem at all. But the CPU power connector is a 4 pin one, and I have already used up all my 4 pin connectors to make the 8 pin. Luckyly the 24 pin connector is a 20+4 pin. So I can easily detach the 4 pin from that and use it. But the problem is can I? I have a 6+2 pin power for my 8 pin power GPU. In the second image you can clearly see the 4 pin connector next to the cooler. In the 3rd image on the bottom left close to the left edge of the mother board you can see the 8 pin connector for component power.Next to the SATA connectors Dont judge my ghetto drive cut out to fit my graphics card, Linus style, I am getting a new case soon anyways.

So I was visiting a friend for our usual vigi game sesh when I notice this pc still sitting in his closet after like 3 years so I asked him what hes doing with it and he said its a dead PC he bought from an auction for the parts that are still good but he hasn't got the time to do what he wants with it. What was wrong with it as far as he could remember was a dead psu and no gpu so if I want it I can have it. I happily took it because who doesn't love free tech. When I get it home I open it up and check everything but it was fine just needed a clean but after a good clean plugging it in and using it was not that simple.... It turned on and it booted fine well for the most part.... I got to the part where I should have seen a windows log in screen but instead I got a grey screen saying this pc is locked due to lack of being connected to a network in the last 120 days. It says to unlock it I need to contact the company it belongs to and provide the offline key (which isn't even in business any longer, I checked) or connect it to a network so it can sync with their servers (which it also can't do ) so thinking it was just a simple boot software installed on the hdd to prevent theft or to lock the pc if it wasn't updated to the servers for what ever reason I swapped out the hdd for one of my spares and went to change boot priority order in bios when I noticed my second problem... boot order was locked to only boot windows boot manager and would not allow me to change it even though bios is not locked with a supervisor password. So I'm thinking that a custom bios was flashed as well as security software installed on the hdd. Whats my best way to fix what seems like a perfectly working computer? Can I reflash bios to unlock boot order or is replacing the motherboard and or hdd the only way to fit it or am I stuck salvaging the gpu, psu, ram, case, cpu and anything else not locked with crapware? I would contact the company if I could but that is sadly not an option so I turn to you all for help. Has anyone got any suggestions?

I am looking to build a new computer and looking at the new Intel i7-8086K. I am also looking to get the ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero mother board. My question is, if the Intel site it says DDR4-2666 for memory types, and the ASUS site it says, DDR4 OC 4133MHZ+, does this mean that purchasing DDR4 4133mhz RAM would be a waste if the CPU can only utilize DDR4-2666? The CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 is $354.99 The CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 4133 is $529.99 What does the $175 dollar difference do?

Guys, Suggest a Asus mobo compatible for G4570, cause some ppl says you need to update bios for some of the mobo models, otherwise it wont work properly. My Requirements for the Mobo - HDMI Interface, More Usb Ports (at least 2 USB 3.0 port) and its better if M.2 is available on it. PC Purpose - AUTOCAD Drawing, simple photo and video editing and Entering bills for Factory.

Hello All, Having an issue that I encountered a few days ago when installing new fans. Issue: Computer boots to windows login, then shuts off. Second boot stays on fine. The Boot Device LED is on during 1st failure, and off during second. Doesn't matter how many times or how long i wait to boot computer, EVERY OTHER boot has Boot Device LED on and shuts down. This began when I bough new RGB 120mm fans for my case. They worked fine for a few days. I realized I need to move the air flow and switched them up a little. All was well, until the switch. I noticed the RGB lights would dim at Start Up and then go back to Full Power and then the PC would shut off. I disassembled my PC, everything, re-coated CPU with Thermal, cable management, fans, changed Memory slots from A1-B1, to A2-B2, and inspected and re-set everything. I also changed RGB fans from Chasis Fan connectors to straight to PSU, which solved the low power mode on them, and no longer dim. Everything seems to be running fine when it works, and used 'Hard Disk Sentinel' to inspect drives. everything is fine. But have no idea why the Boot Device LED is on every other boot. PC SPECS: MOBO: ASUS Z170E CPU: i7-6700k CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Water Memory: 2x8 Corsair Vengeance LPX Bootable Drive: Intel NVMe 750 400GB Storage Drives: 2x Western Digital Blues 1TB & 2TB GPU: ASUS 1060 6GB Thanks in Advanced people!

local morning yall. im browsing ebay for parts for a server build. i came across this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-P9X79-Motherboard-X79-LGA2011-Intel-Quad-Core-i7-3820-3-6Ghz-processor/332558527793?hash=item4d6e086d31:g:su8AAOSwNmNaiGE9 i plan to us a Intel Xeon E5-2640 V2, for this project, so the CPU included with this listing means nothing to me, that said, is there a potential profit to be had from flipping the i7 3820? ive been having a hell of a time finding mobo that are x79 with an LGA 2011 on them anywhere near me, so this is one of the better bets ive found so far.

I want to upgrade my pc but I don't know what to do first I have only a $300 budget. I want to get better fps like in rainbow six siege, Witcher 3, and other triple-titled games, I'm confused on which I should upgrade the CPU or GPU. People have told me to do the CPU because of GPUs right now should I wait or upgrade my CPU motherboard and ram. Also is there a CPU that requires me to only to upgrade motherboard and CPU. Thanks. Specs: OS- Windows 10 64bit CPU- AMD FX-4300 quad core (3.8ghz) GPU-Radeon RX 460 2gb Memory- 8gb DDR3 ram MotherBoard-GA-78LMT-S2 1TB hard drive PWS- 450w

cpu Bit Coin Mining Rig, don't know what cpu to pick
Eno posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Ok so I'm putting together a rig for a friend. This is the mother board we're going with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B075KFPJ6M/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new It has a LGA 1151 socket but all the chips that I can find for it only have 16pci lanes. I don't want him to reach a cap so am I missing something, is there a single chip with more that I haven't looked yet? I went through the entire supported cpu list and only everything has 16 lanes. What cpu should I go with? -
Background: So this is my first computer build and I decided to jump in feet first by listening to that LTT video where linus built a "gaming" computer from old server parts. I've learned a lot with simple internet serches, and a fair bit of reading. This one however has me a bit stumped. Now the question: The Photo is of a page in the manual for my intel motherboard talking about the power supply intel designed to be used with this motherboard. What I am confused about is if in the "notes" section under the table is just reffering to the psu intel designed, or if these are rules that any psu must conform to when using this motherboard? Any help is apreciated, even if it's just helping me find my special helmet :-) Oh and first post! Woo!!!

I want to buy this refurbished pc... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883283253&cm_re=refurbished_desktop-_-83-283-253-_-Product and stick this graphics card in it : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N83U90884&cm_re=evga_geforce_gt_610-_-14-130-815-_-Product I couldn't find info on the motherboard so I don't know if it has a slot for the graphics card, in the item picture it looks like there is one but I don't know what kind it is and if it will support the graphics card I want to use. Even if it dose support it I don't know if it will fit, everything in the case seems tight. So dose the motherboard support the GPU and will it fit in the case when everything is installed?

Okay, so I just swapped to a new motherboard and now my windows says it is not activated. I cannot customize the PC but other than that it's working just fine. Will windows keep working like this, or will it stop working at some point? Is there a fix to this? Btw I'm running windows 10 which has been upgraded from windows 8.1.

Hey all! So, recently I purchased and installed a z97X gaming MOBO and a GTX 980 ti from evga. Following the installation of said components I was greeted with a messaged prompting me to activate windows 10. Going to my accounts page under settings gives me no option to put in a product key, instead I'm given the option of "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead" this is the only option I am given. I sign in and am greeted with a page telling me to sign in with my old password. None of my passwords work, except for one, but that one only takes me to a page telling me that "Oops, something went wrong". Clicking "next" does nothing and "cancel" closes the page. I hope that I've provided enough information, if there's anymore info you might need to help me ill do my best to provide it. Much thanks.

ok so to start of im new to building a pc from scratch and while trying to put in a liquid cooling system i realised even though there was a place to put a 240mm radiator at the top but there wasnt enough clearance thanks to the asus maximus viii hero but even if that i/o shield wasnt there it would still block a lot of important things so i was going to take it out and replace the case only to ralise i had used the wrong screws and had used the ones to hold the power supply in so i believe i have stripped the standoffs since when i turn it after a certain turn it falls back down. i was wondering if i can fix this anyway i have tried getting in contact with asus but there online chat isnt working and neither is there system to register a product for warranty.

I am currently upgrading my aspire TC-120. I already upgrading the ram, in the process of buying an EVGA GeForce GTX 950 SC Gaming (GPU), also an EvGA 700 B1 80 + Bronze (PSU), and I am also getting a new case but my question is within this year I wanted to possibly get a new cpu and heat sink along with a new new mother board if possible. What would be good options for me. This pc is for gaming and im not looking for the top of the line super expensive stuff.
