So a bit of backstory, I had last year in October built a gaming rig with an open loop which specs are below: lian li o11 dynamic mini i7-11700k (had no performance difference between the i9) GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC WATERFORCE WB thermaltake c240 kit GIGABYTE Z590 AORUS PRO 8GBx4 BL2K8G32C16U4W Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz 2 m.2 intel nvme 1TB drives EVGA Supernova 850 GM 120mm ekwb pe rad now obviously the graphics card and the processor are cooled through the same loop, I am able to keep the loop itself under 65C (liquid inside with my thermal probe). To the issue, in October of 21, when I built the machine I could not have the computer do anything for longer than 5 minutes, at one point I timed it, before a Clock Watchdog Timeout Error had occurred. So I did mem tests for a day, that panned out just fine. I did stress tests which would cause the bsod, which I then read the file of the bsod and it pointed me to a specific processor core that always failed to respond to an interrupt. OK so it was the processor, contacted intel, and performed an advanced RMA so they overnighted me a new chip, boom problem solved... for about 6 months, I am starting to run into the error again. now what are the chances the second processor went bad after 6 months? is my component actually running too hot which is causing it to go bad faster? should I have more radiator? obviously my puter is quite noisy under full load. but it maintains the loop under 65C usually sits around 60C. But I am thinking about replacing the proc again, or possibly just replacing the ram to see? does anyone have any suggestions? I am definitely tired of this bsod, I am a software developer, no issues during the day when I am actually programming java, but boom open star citizen for more than 10 minutes (it is getting shorter every time) clock watchdog timeout. Thanks for any help in advance.

I am planning to buy the i7 12700 and MSI Pro Z690-P (LGA1700 DDR4 PCI-e 5.0) motherboard. On the Newegg product page of the motherboard, it says "dedicated mounting bracket is required". Will it be required even for the stock cooler ? Or only for just third party Air, AIO or liquid coolers ? -
Hey all, I purchased a new laptop yesterday and I'm having issue's with the gaming side of things, when compared to my PC. Acer Predator Triton 300, model: PT315-53 i7 11800H 16GB DDR4 RTX 3070 PC: i5 8600k 16GB DDR4 GTX 1070 The issue I've noticed so far, and only tested with Conan Exiles, is that even with the laptop having lower graphics set in-game, compared to PC, I still get lower FPS. I expect the 3070 is a mobile version but I would still expect better results than my PC. To add to this, my PC is running 3 monitors, not sure how much that adds to overall GPU stress but the laptop is just a single screen. This is my first time owning a "gaming" laptop so I'm not sure if there are some settings I'm missing or if my disappointment is justified. P.S. All drivers have been updates along with Windows, haven't updated BIOS yet or played with any BIOS settings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, TIA -
So for starters I have an Intel i7 975x which does have sse 3 instruction set But for some reason halo infinite doesn't seem to register that as that's the only issue I have run into

I am heavy conflicted right now. on what I want to pick. I really like the the 13th Gen i7 and I've had i7 in all my previous systems, but at the same time the 13th Gen i5 is still a rock solid CPU its just a step down from the tier I am used to. Then there is the problem of the K or KF variants. While I would prefer to have K version for security should my graphic's card fail or something go wrong with the drivers for it the site I am looking to use for a custom build has a bunch of great discounts on the KF version making them quite a bit more affordable. I really want a system that will be a solid set up for at LEAST the next 5 years, but at the same time not break my bank.

Hello! I have been wondering if the Lenovo P320 (a 2017 Workstation Computer) supports the Intel® Core™ i7-8700 (a 2018 Processor). I have been searching online, and multiple sources say that the Lenovo P320 supports the LGA1151 socket format which the Intel® Core™ i7-8700 supports but other sources suggest that the Lenovo P320 only supports the LGA1150 socket format which the Intel® Core™ i7-8700 does not support. I have also been guessing that the Intel® Core™ i7-8700 supports 128GB of RAM which the Lenovo P320 does not support. Thanks! Jamie C -

I recently received a PackardBell IMEDIA S3800 and I want to use it for movies only (I have my own gaming pc): LGA 1156 - i3 530 8GB DDR3 HD 5450 My question is, can I upgrade it to a i7 860 or does it suport only up to i5? I think it would be a nice upgrade Today I had to postpone a second hand buy because I could not be sure enough if the i7 would work. I searched a lot and I found on userbenchmark that i7's were used in an imedia s3800 and even found one model for sale with this cpu (old listing). All that I found tells me that it should 100% work, but I still need some confirmation from other people that have more knowledge in this field. Also, the back sides of i5 650 (which is my other option) and i7 860 are different, and the i5 has ¨200¨ written on the back whereas the i7 has ¨100¨, so this is one reason that makes me be unsure about the compatibility. The i3 that I have now installed has the back side identical with the i5 650. I have an i7 7700k with an RTX 2070 right now. I built my pc back in late 2017. I think my pc is still pretty good right now but I've been thinking about upgrading my graphics card to a 40 series card, probably a 4070. I was wondering if I should upgrade my i7 7700k to a newer one like the 12th or 13th gen i7, or wait for 14th gen. If I do get a 4070 will my GPU be bottlenecked by my i7 7th gen ? -
I was looking to pair the Nvidia geforce rtx 4080 with an INTEL CORE I7-13700K. I'm using the pc for mostly gaming. Will the i7 be a good fit or should I go to the INTEL CORE I9-13900K?

Both the i7 12th gen and the i5 13th gen are around the same price in my area. Which is better? I checked some websites which said that the i5 13th gen is faster, but are there benefits of the i7 over the i5? -
Hello, this is my first time ever posting so go easy on me. My Specs Alienware M17 R2 (2020) Intel i7-9750H 2.6ghz boost clock 4.5ghz 16gb ram windows 10 bios 1.20 I will try to keep this as short and understandable as possible. Ever since dell blocked me from undervolting my cpu its been nothing short of a pain in my backside when gaming. I decided to dig deep into my hardware to test out what i can do to maximize its performance. The issue im having that i never used to have is under a heavy load my cpu is dropping to base clock speed (2.6ghz) and a wattage of 28-30w. Its TDP-Down is rated at 35w and normal TDP 45w. No matter what i have tried nothing yet works. I have tested turning off PL2 and minimizing turbo time limit. Leaving PL1 and 2 as is and capping the core clocks to a lower speed. Even putting PL1 to 35w to keep temps from maxing out yet still after 5 mins in a cpu intensive game it insists on dropping to base clock and 30w. Even when temps are far within the optimal load specs its still doing it. From all my testing i have noticed one thing. It only does this when GPU is under load. Cpu stress testing performs at a sustained rate without throttling to 30w. I have recently found out i suffer from pump out with the paste so i changed to a phase change pad with the honeywell ptm and with the even pressure and coating its made a big difference however, during gaming the 30w drop still happens. From what i have heard it could be a motherboard setting that was introduced thats doing this? My GPU wont go above 70c so its definitely a cpu problem im having. My recent log file (attached) from throttlestop shows when all settings are factory it PL1 limits and drops in game. Factory settings are PL1 90w PL2 90w Tau 32 secs. Im guessing dell put my PL1 to the max boost wattage to get the most out of it but whats the point if it cant sustain more than 30w during gaming. If anyone has any answers that might know how to help me around this i would really appreciate it. Edit: I reset throttlestop and restarted my computer again but this time it shows default pl1 as 47 and pl2 90. Quotes My thoughts I see this as a logical move by Intel, as AM4 is still very compelling option for most individuals. You can get an adequate B550 board, Ryzen 5 5600, and 16-32GB 3200MHz kit of DDR4 for a stellar price. By cutting the prices of Alder Lake/12th Gen by 20%, this makes going Intel a more persuasive alternative. I see Zen 4/AM5 and 13th Gen as very competitive, giving the edge to Intel. Nonetheless, this move by Intel will make previous Gen also very competitive. I'm not sure if this is still on track, but there was supposed to be a Raptor Lake refresh coming later in the year, allegedly Q3 2023. If this is true, it's possible Intel is trying to clear 12th Gen stock before Raptor Lake refresh launches to compete with Zen 4 7000X3D chips. I am searching for a CPU cooler for the I7 13700kf. I have my eyes on the Silent and pure Loop 2 360mm (any size actually) but i dont know if it would be enough. Also i dont want to spend 300 Euros for a cooler. Air - Coolers are also an Option but i dont like the look of them, of course, if they are essential i'd take one. So my question is: Is the Silent Loop 2 or pure loop 2 enough for keeping it reasonably cold, and if not, what would be another option.

I bought a computer off Ebay the listing said the power supply had fried it self and was untested and may or may not work and he didn't want it anymore. It was listed for $150 parts or repair the listing showed it was the Dell Optiplex 9010 MT made into a gaming computer with a 4gb video card, gaming memory, Windows 10 Pro and no hard drives included. There wasn't much listed for the full specs but I decided to take the risk buying it. I seen there was 7 offers on this computer already that were still pending so I went and paid full asking price. This computer came with no power supply or hard drives and the card reader didn't work. I had to clean the whole computer it was very dusty but in good shape after I cleaned and rebuilt it the computer works fine for over a month now no problems yet. What I am wondering is this a good computer for gaming in 2020? and did I get a good deal? the way the listing shows this computer can game at 60 fps to 150 fps seemed a little off but maybe I'm wrong since I don't play any games yet but I may get into gaming if this computer is good enough. Also I am wondering how much this computer maybe worth compared to what I have paid I have $215 total into this computer. These were the parts I already had a good friend gave to me over the last few months or so (used) Everything else came with the computer besides the psu. Problems with 9700k Hello, to preface this, I am a total noob - at overclocking. I have an Intel i7 9700k. I have a MSI Z390 pro motherboard. While overclocking in the MSI bios, I followed all the recommendations of the MSI people. These recommendations come from a video that MSI put out on overclocking 9th gen CPU's. The steps I took were: Set the CPU ratio to 50, and the ring ratio to 47. Set the CPU voltage to 1.37. Set the CPU core voltage to override. Disable Intel C-State However, aftert following all these steps, when I run benchmarks, my cpu is still running at 4.7 gHz. When I am not running benchmarks, the clocks are 5.0 gHz. Why is this the case? The benchmarks I am using are Cinebench and AIDA 64. The tools I am using to monitor clock speeds and temps are HWMonitor 64 and Task Manager. Can someone please help me and tell me what is going wrong? Much appreciated!

Hello there, I have a Asus ROG GL703VM with Intel i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060 and 16GB of RAM. As soon as I plug my laptop to AC power the laptop starts throttling for no reason that is even without running any games or other heavy software. On charge games lag a lot, there is heavy FPS drop. Totally unplayable. If I remove the laptop from charge it does seem to ease a bit but the fans and CPU seem to run in full capacity still. People at Asus don't seem to have any solution for this problem. Suggestion and remedies please. Thanks.

I know there is Intel 10th gen mobile CPU coming out soon, but I have a client that requires an intensive CPU load productivity laptop right now. I was looking up for something in his budget and from what I can see the I7-9750H and I7-9850H are perfectly suited for what he told me. Here's the problem, from what ive seen so far, each and every one of those laptop equipped with these CPU are thermal throttling. Since the I7-9750H is technically the best CPU for him I want to know which laptop is the coldest among the whole bunch ?? Minimum specs he requires his work and personal gaming habit. CPU: I already determined that one GPU: Mobile 1650 or faster RAM: 32Gb 2400Mhz or faster SCREEN: 1920x1080, 60Hz minimum requirement WEBCAM: Must have one, by preference a 720p or better KEYBOARD: Backlit is require I have no problem of disassembling a laptop for manual operation inside either, I have almost every high end thermal paste including LM too. I have to find a solution for him to keep his CPU temperature low enough that it will allow itself turbo boosting 24/7. The only thing that I am not allowed to do is to control voltage via a program in any OS, this criteria must be done in BIOS or I would have failed. To resume all that - Is there any laptop that is cold enough to allow turbo boost 24/7 for this CPU ? - If there is none, which laptop I could use as a template and modify it a bit to suit this purpose ?

Hi All! I have a question about my PC build, I built this PC around 3 years ago. I am a Computer science student and so do a lot of coding, video editing, 3d modelling as well as gaming. My current build is as follows; Intel i7 7700k Overclocked to 4.6ghz Evo 220 cooler ASUS Z270-A motherboard Crucial ballistix sport ddr4 2400 single ram 16gb stick GTX 1060 Overclocked to max before stability issues Bronze 550W EVGA PSU Now my question is, I am looking to make some kind of upgrade to my PC before I end up completely rebuilding it to try to get as much power from the system as I can before a complete new build is completed. I dont want to sink to much money into this system unless its a part I will use on my new PC I will be building within the next year. What do you recommend I do to this system to increase the speed without spending much? My current opinion would be to upgrade the RAM to 3000mhz and get two 8gb sticks to take advantage of dual channel. I have also considered upgrading the cooler so I can OC my CPU further, or possibly even doing a delid on it to lower temps and get a higher clock speed. My question is, would I be best to increase the speed of the CPU by delidding it or would the performance be minimal with such a slow RAM and only using single channel, do you believe the ram could be bottle necking my CPU? Hi, i built my first PC around last christmas. (i7 9700K, ASUS Prime Z390-A, 2070S, 3000MHz RAM, RM750X PSU.) I have noticed recently that my 9700K never reaches 4 GHz without manual overclocking. It won't budge above 3,8. (These speeds are recorded during load.) I've already tried changing my power plan to High Performance Mode. I haven't done anything in my bios except for raising my RAM frequency from 2133MHz to 3000MHz. Is there any way to fix this issue? My BIOS version/date is American Megatrends Inc. 1105, 2019-06-06
