I am going to build a PC soon. Im thinking of getting a Phanteks Eclipse P350x case. What i don't understand is what type of RGB connector is used to plug into the motherboard to get full addressable RGB on the case. I am also looking at buying an MSI B450 Tomahawk motherboard. Is it compatible? If not do i need an adapter? Or do I need an entirely different motherboard to get addressable RGB in software?

So I have just built my first PC. I used the Cooler Master MB500 Tuf case. When connecting everything to the motherboard, I noticed that the only connectors that the fans had were the rgb (connected to a 3-way splitter) and a connector (molex?) that connects straight to the power supply. I plugged the rgb into the rgb header and connected the fans to the power supply. Now that im in the bios, there N/A for all chassis fans. The fans are running at a constant single speed and the rgb is working just fine. Am i missing something or is that just the way these fans are?

Recently I had to replace my x99 motherboard due to a USB overcurrent issue preventing me from booting. My new motherboard is used (obviously) and has built in wifi/bt. It has the connectors on the back for the antenna, but when I bought an antenna it was too large to fit the connectors. I didn't realize that the connectors are smaller than ones on a typical router. I have searched for information on what kind of connectors these are on the back of my motherboard, and I can't find anything conclusive. Does anyone know the specific name of the connectors on the motherboard? Hey all, I just noticed this unmarked connector underneath the CPU socket on my ASUS Crosshair VI. It is not marked on the board and the manual doesn't seem to mention it anywhere. The motherboard diagram in the manual completely skips over it. Anyone know what this is for?

An oddly specific question here, but i was playing with my BIOS and making tweaks after i installed my new RTX 2060, and during the rebooting processes, i was looking at my mobo, and i noticed a connector plug got unplugged. When putting it back to where i swore it was, i felt the location was wrong and so were the others. I feel the Manual doesn't tell me exactly what orientation to put these plugs. Could some one tell me if i have this set up correctly? If not, can you please tell me the correct orientation of these plugs? Horizontal, vertical? Are there more plugs to be utilized?

One of the cords on my Altec Lansing speakers is beginning to go, which is causing a static sound. I've had these speakers for probably over 10 years. The quality is amazing. Hence I'd like to fix them instead of replace them. My goal is to buy a new connector, so that I can remove the current connector, strip the wire, and then solder the wires to new connector. I'm just not sure what this connector is called or where to buy one, and Google isn't helping. Below are some images. Any help would be immensely appreciated. P.S. I know my fingers are nice looking, so compliments are unnecessary.

Hi Everyone, It's becoming more apparent that I'll be getting myself the i9-9900K processor and I'm planning to overclock it to as much as it can handle. I'll be getting the Gigabyte Aorus Master motherboard which is said to have 8+8 EPS 12V connectors. I was going for the following PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 850W but then I noticed it has only one 8-pin connector and another 4+4 connector, so I concluded I should get a different PSU and this seems like the only good (Tier 1) option I could find: Seasonic Prime Ultra 850W Titanium - Is this indeed the one I should go for?

Is there a 3pin5V rgb connector on MSI x299 gaming carbon ac? The reason that why I asked this is because I bought an RGB decoration light but I couldn't find the correct connector on the motherboard. If there are no correct connection between this weird joint, can someone tell me how to get a converter of this? THX a lot guys. I am almost crazy with it

Hello all. Just curious to get an answer to what I think is true. Is the PSU 8-pin PCI-E connector the same voltages as the 8-pin CPU connector. I noticed they have the same plug config and it looks like the voltages are the same. The PSU I have is semi-modular and has 2 cables for PCI-E and one CPU 8-pin. I am not going to use at least one PCI-E but I have 2 CPU's. Is using the 8-pin PCI a viable option to use for the CPU?

I received an old Lenovo AIO M72z for free. I'm trying to build a very cheap but decent pc out of it. My problem is the lack of PCI slots. As seen in the attached picture of the board, there is a riser port that usually connects to 4 USB 2.0 ports, one ethernet port, and a display port. Does anyone know what type of connector that is? On the mobo it only says riser. I was wondering whether I could connect a USB 3 expansion card or even a GPU to it if there was some kind of adapter. I also wanted to upgrade the CPU. The best CPU in the original M72z lineup was an i7 3770s (65 watts), because the original PSU only delivered 125 watts. If I use a 24pin to 14pin adapter to replace the PSU with a 430 watt PSU, would a regular i7 3770 (95 watt) work without any problems or could there be an issue with the bios?

I have a Corsair RM650 and am wanting to upgrade from my FX-8350 to the 2990wx. The motherboard I am looking at (the MEG creation) has 2x 4+4 CPU connectors. My PSU at the back has 3 identical ports labelled "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU" but has no indication as to which is which. The total usage of my system (250W for CPU + 200W for GPU) means I will not necessarily need an upgraded PSU for power consumption alone. My question is can I plug a second 4+4 CPU cable into one of those ports to go to the motherboard? I currently have 1 spare as my Strix 970 only uses 1. I also tried the connectors and they both fit in each of the 3 ports on the PSU, making me feel like another CPU power cable can go in there! Also secondly, can I run the CPU at stock settings with just 1 CPU power connector into the motherboard until I order another CPU power cable if I need to at all? I will not be manually overclocking because I want the increased single core performance from PB and PBO. Thanks in advance

So my Motherboard has only one 4 pin cpu connector as it is a low profile one but i was wondering if i could use any of the two 4+4 connectors as they are separate and fits in the socket. However, only one connector has same pattern as the one in the motherboard (just like left connector in the photo) I want to use the next one because i am getting red indication in 5v voltage in bios (kinda like that in the picture but it's for 5v voltage only) when i use the connector of same pin shape but when i switch to next connector it no longer shows red Is it safe?? is psu change needed? I have i5 3470 with Rx 570 4GB powered by 550w 80+ Bronze PSU so it's not like my psu is low profile or anything i hope you understood what i'm trying to say i don't know english

So my motherboard only has two slots for fan connections and I am in need of a connector that I can connect multiple fans to. There are two options one uses the molex pins to 4pin fan connectors and the other uses the CPU fan header to 4pin fan connectors. Idk what should I choose. Any help would be appreciated

battery Laptop Battery Connection to Motheboard Melted
serpentine19 posted a topic in Hobby Electronics
I have a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop that has not been registering the battery for a while now. Just opened it up to have a look and the batteries connection to the motherboard, specifically 1 of the pins plastic, had melted, covering one of the battery side pins in plastic and the motherboards side only slightly. What are my options here? Can the pin connector cable be replaced on the battery for cheaper than buying a new battery? Does the small bit of plastic on the motherboards pin need to be removed? Cheers for the help. -
Hey, I got another problem with my new PC build: On my motherboard there are two connectors: 1x 8-Pin and 1x 4-Pin Connector. I only got a cable which is split into 2x 4-Pin-cables. How do I have to plug the cables in? I got a Ryzen 7 3700X with 65W TDP. Thanks for your help and merry Christmas everyone!

Hello :) I have plugged in the "f_panel" Connector like this: I thought that was it, but then I found these in the accessory box in my NZXT H500 case: I'm not sure if I'm supposed to plug in both the f_panel Connector and these ones as well. As you can see they are really short, so there is no way It's gonna stretch from the front IO to the header on the mobo alone. I Guess you are supposed to plug it in to a different, longer cable. Am I supposed to use some kind of "adapter" for the f_panel to attach these cables as well, or am I doing it right?

Hey there! My question may not the the wisest but i got a question concerning projecting my Surface Pro 6 to the Beamer in my school (I am a teacher there) . It would be easy normally but each room has a desktop PC connected to internal servers where our school documents are saved and we only have ethernet access. So I need access to the desktop normally as well as my Surface Pro as I would need it with OneNote and Drawboard. Is there a way to easily connect it and being able to use the Desktop if needed and project the Surface Pro Screen on the Beamer? Sadly the Remote for our Beamers are quite shit and only have an On and Off button. The Beamer automatically streams the Desktop Screen. I hope I explained it somehow understandable^^ Thanks in advance guys! Kind regards, Your Cow

So the basic problem is my laptop's power and hdmi connectors are loose due to 4-ish years of plugging/unplugging regularly (I move around a lot). The laptop is still good, runs fine, and the insides are all in pretty much perfect condition thanks to monthly cleaning. It's just that the connection tabs have become loose and disconnect temporarily if bumped/moved. For the hdmi, this is just an annoyance since it means I have to deal with Windows deciding my second monitor is/is not/is/is not/is/is not connected repeatedly, but it's a massive problem for the power port because the port is overheating due to the loose connection. I can't do anything more intensive than charging the battery and then unplugging it to run it because of that. I've taken the computer apart enough to get a good look at the power port and the thing is in great shape. Some of the plastic near it shows signs of minor thermal damage, but nothing is melted, just stressed. But I can't do it myself. I know how, but I have nerve damage in my hands, so I can't physically do the work. Unfortunately, neither the original manufacturer nor any of my local computer repair services (all two of them) want to even think about touching that kind of repair. The manufacturer wants me to buy a whole new motherboard, but that's outside my budget by a factor of two, so I'd prefer to get it repaired, but the local services don't even want to think about replacing the whole mobo for the laptop. So, where can I send this to get it repaired? It's a simple repair, in all honesty. I've done it back before the nerve damage prevented me from working on things that small and it held up for literally years after the fact just fine. I Know this can be repaired without needing to replace the whole board, but I need a place that wants to do it without replacing the whole board, which I'm having trouble finding.

So I need a GPU and for price reasons I'm considering AMD over Nvidia. So I'm looking at the RX 570 or the RX 480 but my PSU is non-modular so I need 3rd party power connectors. I already have a Molex to 6-pin but the cards need an 8-pin I believe. Would I be able to use a single Molex to power the card?(I don't have any spare Molexes on my PSU).
