Hey there! I recently upgraded my GPU from a 1050ti to a 1070 amp edition by Zotac. My CPU is a i7-4770 (ancient I know) and im running 16 GB of RAM. I have a 650W psu which i think should be up to the job. First it all seemed well, games were running as expected and there were no issues to speak off. However, couple of days ago i started noticing very lacking performance in more demanding games (that i not often play) like PUBG. The graphics settings barely influenced the performance but turning OFF Vsync made the fps go to precisely 60fps on low enough settings... Weirdly the problem also occured in Assetto Corsa, which was running perfectly on the highest settings on my 1050ti. It feels like a mix of low fps and some kind of rubberbanding. I checked MSI afterburner and my cpu was only used like 30% which for me spoke against a cpu bottleneck. My gpu usage however is unusually high even in Assetto (roughly 80%). I then tried messing around with the pagefile, reinstalling the graphicsdriver, resetting the settings in Nvidea Control Panel and checked for any apps that might be hindering my performance but nothing came out of it all. Do you think im dealing with a CPU bottleneck or that there is another (perhaps hardware-related) issue. Thank you to anyone trying to help! Kind Regards, Jonas.

Hello everyone! I come to you in a time of great desperation. I am looking to upgrade my stationary for gaming performance, but i've hit a bit of an impasse. My current build is a rather basic MSI B350 motherboard (MS-7A34) with an AMD Ryzen 1700x processor, and a Gigabyte GTX 1070 4GB (Windforce). Also 16GBs of . This holds up alright, but i would like an upgrade for gaming purposes. Many recent games are able to push both my CPU and GPU quite hard, but between VR, a new QHD 144Hz monitor, and a desire to play with ray tracing, the 1070 is my biggest issue. With the current GPU prices and three years left of studying (and 2023 without my machine), i'd like an upgrade that lasts those remaining years, and i would like it before summer. I have an opportunity to buy a 3080 (10GB) for 1070 USD, or a 3070 for about 950 USD. This is about 118% of original price for both cards (Prices in Norway). This beats all retail prices i can find, and i'd love to upgrade to it. However, this leaves little budget for other upgrades, and i suspect the Ryzen 1700x would be bottlenecking a 3080 quite a bit. With a B350 motherboard, i could technically get a Ryzen 3800x without replacing other parts, and it's gotten quite affordable, but then my motherboard would probably bottleneck it... Short rant: I have heard that GPU prices were supposed to drop around these times, but i've seen little indication of this here so far. I also fear that next gen cards will see a price hike to match demand and growing consumer numbness to the mad prices). it would also be bottlenecked far more in my system anyways, and further upgrades will likely wait until 2024 for me. At some point i'll have to bite the bullet and just purchase a damn card, because i was planning to upgrade to the RTX30-series since it was announced, and the wait is getting ridiculous. My patience has worn plenty thin at this point, and i'd like the upgrade for summertime gaming :D. Full name of the card: RTX 3080 10GB PNY XLR8 Gaming REVEL EPIC-X TF Lhr I haven't heard of this producer before, but some quick searches seem to verify it being alright. TL;DR: I really want a new GPU before summer. Next gen doesn't seem relevant for me right now. I want it to remain somewhat competitive for about three years. i can buy a 3080 for 1070 USD (In Norway). This will likely be botlenecked by my Ryzen 1700x CPU. Any opinions on the value of this deal? Thanks for reading this essay on my life story and frustrations. Any reccomendations for upgrades is greatly appreaciated!

Hey LTT Forum! This is about my first time here so bare with me! I acquired a free gtx 1070 from my friend a while back to find out it was pretty much bricked. After some further testing I found out that it was detected in windows as a gtx 1070 when put in a running system that already had a gpu installed. When it is the primary gpu I am greeted with only a black screen from my monitor, but the “ge-force gtx” logo does light up (if that means anything). I’ve attempted to boot with this gpu in different systems, motherboards and psu’s. I’ve also attempted using the dvi, hdmi and dp ports on the back with still no luck. I’ve torn it apart to see if there were any physical hardware level issues with the card and I can’t notice anything with my own eyes. I don’t NEED this gpu but it’d be nice to put this thing in sli with my current 1070 in my main system! Any suggestions and/or help is appreciated, thanks guys.

These are my specs Ryzen 2700x 16gb ddr4 hyperx 2400mhz ram Gtx 1070 Asrock b450 k4 Aerocool 600w psy 750gb hdd Case has 1 intake and 3 exhaust fans Cpu is using stock cooler. Temps range from 30 to around 43 Have had it for over a year and has ran fine without any problems but 2 days ago I was playing call of duty warzone for a couple of hours and it froze. No input working (numluck caps lock) ctrl alt delete. But fans were still spinning. So I hard reset it but now everytime it starts to freeze even when doing an ordinary task. Like rendering a video or opening a few tabs in chrome or running any sort of game. I can however still open hwmonitor and have left it on and idling for an hour and it doesnt freeze. What I have already tried. Tried 2 different hard drives and one m.2 nvme ssd. Tried the gpu in a different computer and works fine Tried both ram sticks separately Ran memtest on the ram for 3 4 hours showing no errors. Doing a fresh install of windows. All is fine until it reaches the end bit where it says please wait and it freezes there on all hard drives. For the hdd tried different cables. Would greatly appreciate some help to try and work out what the issue is.

Hi, I recently acquired an Acer Predator (G9-793-76YT) Laptop with a GTX 1070 (and an I7 7700HQ). I did some benchmarks to compare against my Lenovo Desktop Y710, which also has a GTX 1070 (I5 6400). These benchmarks, I think, are not going to impacted by the CPU (in this case). The laptop came out on top in both benchmarks. This is odd since I would have thought the desktop GTX 1070 would beat the laptop. Benchmarks... Superposition (1080p extreme) - Laptop = 3387 Desktop = 3244 Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0- Laptop = 2151 Desktop = 2096 Is this normal? Shouldn't a desktop GTX 1070 peform better than that of a GTX 1070 in a laptop?

my MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X fan speed didn't go more than 81% and power limit stuck between 84% to 90% while i'm run furmark and 62fps locked. i flashed GPU bios to new version but nothing change. please help.

I have the Asus GTX 1070 Dual 8GB. My problem with it is that the fans is at 29% when idle. I've read somewhere else on here that I should update VBIOS, which I tried but it said "no need to update", so I guess it's already up to date? As you can see on the website the update states "1.DUAL GTX 1070 series now support 0dB function." Yet it doesn't work on my GPU. Hey there guys. Recently i bought a 1070Ti Asus Strix and so far it's doing great. Games are running smoothly at 120+ fps no prob. temps are pretty good too. Recently i discovered that when at idle the center fan is spinning at it's lowest speed but it is not registered by HW monitor. There it says 0Rpm. When i run a game they ramp up at around 57 58 degrees and everything is normal ,but i think when at idle they should all stop spinning. What do u think about this?

So I am getting myself a GTI 1070 and it requires 8 pins but my PSU doesnt have 8 pins, so I will just get a 6 to 8pin adapter, googled around a bit and people find that working for them Now the thing that I am worried about is my PSU going to output enough power or should I try getting a new one? These are my specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 Motherboard: B450M PRO-M2 PSU: LC500H-12 V2.2 Ram: 8gigs, but I was thinking of adding 8 more at some point

Hey all! I actually have many questions etc. I am relatively good with computers and have had several builds. I built this system about 4 years ago? Just after the release of the 7700k was released. I've always bought unlocked cpus as after a couple years I tend to oc them as high as possible before throwing the towel in and beginning the new system build. Now unfortunately I think I have a bad chip :( I simply can not get 5ghz and I'm stuck at 4.9ghz @1.375v which I feel is too high for that clock anyway, max load temps are around 65-71*C in prime 95 which is fine (I did delid the cpu). The question I have is there something I am missing? I can provide screen shots etc. Also if I can't get this thing to OC more should I upgrade? I'm currently sitting with 7700k, msi Z270 carbon pro, 32gb gskill ram 3200 ddr4(which I can use for the next build). Corsair h115i v2 and a zotac 1070 amp (I've been wanting to upgrade to the rtx 2080 as there are some super good deals where I live atm, the one store is selling them for less then a rtx 2070 super and from my understanding the rtx 2080 is a better card). Could my cpu be limited by my mobo? Will it bottleneck a 2080. I play games @1440p and I'm not happy with the 1070s performance. Thanks in advance!

I recently just built my first PC and the graphics card is having issues. I have one HDMI port hooked up to my monitor and all is fine but when I try to hook up my TV to the other HDMI port the PC will not turn off completely. I unplugged the power cord to the PC but the lights are all still on the fans twitch until I unplug the TV's HDMI cord.

After many years of waiting, I have finally decided to upgrade my software development/gaming setup. It's been many years since I last built a computer, so It'll be great if I can get some feedback on this build. Budget & Location Excluding monitors, peripherals, and storage, I'm looking to spend less than $1200 USD on this build (tax included - California). While this is not a hard cap, there'll need to be some very good reasons to increase the budget. Aim The system will be a hybrid programming/gaming machine. I will be running Linux as the host OS, with Windows gaming done through GPU Passthrough to a VM. I make heavy use of virtual machines, so memory capacity is quite important. I will be using BTRFS as my primary filesystem (without ECC memory). On the programming end, my use cases focus around large memory capacity - I have need for both high single-core performance and large thread count (though not simultaneously). For gaming, I'm interested in a system that can play new games at high graphics at 1080p 60fps for at least the next 4-5 years. The games I play tend to be CPU-heavy. VR capability would be a nice plus. I don't plan on significant upgrades for 4-6 years. Monitors I'll be using two 1080p 60Hz monitors with this build, with a potential upgrade to 2K a few years down the line - nothing crazy. Plan Current Parts List: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/RandomBK/saved/PdbGXL Notes on some of the decisions: CPU: i7-7700K Already purchased at $333.24 incl. tax. I plan to OC this hopefully to 4.8Ghz on air. Probably a bit lower during hot Californian summers. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z270M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Low-priced overclockable motherboard with onboard gigabit memory and USB3 headers. Cheap, simple, and fits my needs. Memory: G.Skill Aegis 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2133 Memory Only using two of the 4 slots on the board for the moment - this is probably the only part I will be upgrading in the future, so I want to leave some room for expansion. GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition Video Card I'm not entirely sure which 1070 to get, but any low-priced, reliable, 8GB 1070 works for me. I will probably also try to overclock this. Does anyone have experience with the manufacturer refurbished cards on NewEgg? They're slightly cheaper, but are there any issues with them? Power: Corsair CXM 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Corsair CXM 450W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply Given my plans to overclock, is this enough? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So I finally could buy the parts that I wanted and I have my PC now running for 6 months and yeah here are some pics: Front My RIG: With cool GPU arm Cable management Realbench and System: What do you think? (Sorry that it is dusty :P) Later I want to upgrade to an Asus 1080 ti and maybe a EKWB Watercooling.

I currently have two brand new GTX 1070 Strix cards in SLI, and I am considering switching to the GTX 1080Ti when it arrives. My question is, is it worth it? Will I see an appreciable enough performance gain to justify selling 2 cards to get one? Advice, Wisdom and Thoughts appreciated.

Long story short, I bought a MSI GTX 1070 in November upgrading from a MSI GTX 960. Every game I play is not performing to the max it should be. Battlefield 1 is barely playable on Ultra and I have to turn the systems down to medium to get 70 or 60 fps and very very often drops of 40 and 30 fps. The Witcher 3, on max settings, is playable but only getting like 70 and mostly 60 fps. It should be getting 100 or more, especially on a 1080p 144hz monitor. I'm sick of my computer underperforming. Would really like what I paid for. Now I sorta just dealt with it at first cause I didn't really know much about computers. But I learned a lot over the year and have been asking forever and seriously...I've tried everything. I configured everything in the Nvidia control panel. Drivers are up to date. Changed vertical sync to off on everything. Checked my task manager and nothing is out of ordinary...yet my CPU is often spiking at 100%, but people are telling me it shouldn't. So what am I doing wrong? I'm so desperate! I don't want to buy another graphics card. I was thinking of buying a new Core but people said don't. I'm just so annoyed. I don't understand what is wrong with my pc. Please please please comment and help me out. System specs: Monitor 1080p 144Hz ACER Motherboard: Z97 PC Mate(MS-7850) Intel Core i5 4690k 3.50 Ghz, 3501 Mhz, 4 cores (using stock cooler but shouldn't make a difference since I'm not overclocking) GTX 1070 Ballistic 8GB RAM DDR3 500 GB SSD Samsung 1TB HDD Don't know the power supply name, but I know it's not bad or anything. MidTower Thermaltake Anymore info?

So just like way too many people I'm planning to upgrade my GPU (currently running a 960). As of yet I've been looking into two 1070s: MSI GTX 1070 Quicksilver = £389.99 MSI GTX 1070 Sea Hawk X = £398.99 I know both are fairly discounted prices, I've looked up numerous reviews and I honestly can't decide between the two based on the pros and cons I've read up. Is the water cooling actually useful for anything other than higher clock speeds? Of course I'm also weighing up Vega but it depends when that's released and or pricing (obviously ...). Many thanks for any and all Help, Comments, Advice and Insight offered

I have an ROG Swift PG 278q and a GTX 1070 and I still notice some frame tearing when playing games. Is this an unusual problem, or is there a solution, or is there something here that I'm missing?

Hey guys, this might be a bit of a dumb question but is the GTX 1070 good enough for the Ryzen 7 CPU's (primarily the 1700) or do I need a more powerful GPU to prevent bottleneck? Thanks in advance!

hi so ive been having some problems with my gaming PC. i have a nvidia geforce gtx 1070 and lately all my games are crashing. sometimes if i start up GTA 5 or any other game it simply crashes within 5 minutes but then sometimes it loads up fine and works no problem. ive checked my temperatures to check if maybe its overheating but the max my GPU temperature goes to is between 50-55 degrees. ive tried reinstalling my drivers and updating it to see if that solves it but still the same problem. i then tried to run heaven benchmark but it simply crashed within a few minutes. so does this mean my GPU is faulty?
