I have several questions regarding updating the bios on my motherboard which is the gigabyte gaming x ax ddr4. The bios version is F1 and comes out the box compatible with the 12th gen cpus. Since I've been having issues and I already tried everything that I can think of and from someone on another post told me. So about updating the bios, how do I go about it since its literally my last resort. The entire info

Buddy of mine brought me his computer and told me it wasn't displaying anything when he turned it on. I immediately thought broken gpu, so I put mine (RTX 2060) in his machine and it worked fine. When I put his gpu (RTX 2080ti) in my machine, however, it worked fine and booted and displayed as normal. My next thought was drivers, however upon installing updated drivers via GeForce experience on his machine, but the 2080 continues to not display. I'm at a bit of a loss and would appreciate some guidance on troubleshooting. The specs of the computer are as listed: -Cpu is unknown as is the mobo, although the mobo is MSI and supports DDR4 and has buttons to clear cmos and bios on the IO panel at the back of the machine -The graphics card that ISNT working is a ROG RTX 2080ti -The graphics card that IS working is a NVGA RTX 2060 I've done the following: reset cmos. Clean reinstall of graphics drivers, tried resetting ram, tried another PCIe slot for the graphics card, even took my PSU and put it into his computer and none of the above solved it. The only part I can gather is the mobo will print out the error code "d6" which looking into it only points to solutions I have already tried, at least to my knowledge. Any help with potential solutions would be greatly appreciated.

JesusTouchMe posted a topic in Troubleshooting
It's exactly what the title says. I have Ryzen 5 7500f and 32gb (2x16) of ddr5 Kingston Fury I've tried: One ram stick and no ram stick Popping out the cmos battery, waiting 10 minutes before putting it back in Flashing bios Checking bent pins, even sent a macro picture to a friend and still nothing Letting it just run for 15 minutes Reseating the cpu and cooler None of these have worked for me. Any help would be appreciated- 3 replies

My PC's CPU is a Ryzen 9 7950X, which has an AM5 chipset. I make music and use an audio interface. I recently upgraded to an Apollo x8p, which runs off Thunderbolt 3. The problem is, my motherboard is a MAG B560 TOMAHAWK WIFI, which doesn't have TB headers at all. So, I'm stuck in a position where I can't seem to find any motherboards that support the AM5 chipset while having Thunderbolt ports or even a board that just has TB headers on it so I can install a Thunderbolt 4 card. My next thought was that I know USB 4 is capable of running Thunderbolt 3, but manufacturers make it incredibly difficult to know if you are getting USB 4 Gen 3x2 or a version of USB 4 with tons of features missing. I'm not exactly sure what my interface needs to be compatible, but I would assume I need the entirety of all the features of USB 4 without any corners cut. I'm looking at the ProArt X670E-CREATOR WIFI, but once again, I'm not sure if the USB 4 ports on there will be able to support my Thunderbolt 3 device. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated greatly; I'm really stuck right now and kind of wishing I went with an Intel CPU as there seem to be more options over there right now.

Hey I just got a new motherboard and cpu and ram and the pc was working the other day but when i tried reinstalling the cpu fan the pc stopped working and now every time i turn it on i get no display but it turns on and then i get a CPU and DRAM light and then the PC reboots and keeps rebooting every 20 seconds making a bootloop. I recently got new parts and put it into my build so I got a new motherboard the b660m pro rs, new cpu the 12600kf, and DDR4 ram 16gb and I can't test if its the ram or cpu because my old rig was pretty bad I had a i7 4770, ddr3 16gb and a good motherboard if it was 2013 lol. its not the power supply i checked it its getting enough power i have a 500 watt psu and my GPU is a 1650 Super which doesn't take up much at all. I've already tried all the basics like reseating cpu, reseating ram, reseating power connectors, and clearing cmos so yeah. What do you guys think? I really hope the motherboard isn't dead or the CPU I don't mind if its the ram tho.

I upgraded to a new motherboard for my small form factor PC (Gigabyte AMD Ryzen A520 AM4 Mini-ITX Motherboard) and when my computer first starts it goes to 100% for a few seconds then goes down to the fan curve. However, when it sleeps the computer's fans go to 100% and i cannot stop it by attempting to restart it the only way to get it to turn off is to switch the power supply off and on again (pressing and holding the power button doesn't work) Is there any setting in my BIOS I could use to fix this Thanks

Just built myself a new pc and everything looks fine just that every time I start it the dram led goes orange, then the cpu led goes red, then the vga goes white and it ends with the boot led going green. Then no leds light up anymore does anybody know how this can be fixed or if its even a problem? Thanks in advance

Hi! Trying to confirm that I bricked my motherboard, while trying to apply hardware raid in the BIOS settings for a server build. Specs: MB: Gigabyte B550 AM4 ITX CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G RAM: 16gb DDR4 Corsair (2 sticks in the correct channels) PSU: corsair 650W Boot drive: Samsung 970 Pro 500GB Additional Storage: 2x WD 4TB NAS drives and 2x WD 1TB Blue Drive I had successfully built/booted the system, had installed ubuntu, and was working on the RAID setup. I went into the BIOS, went into advanced mode, enabled 2 RAID 1 arrays, and then saved the changes. Reboot started, and then the system just didn't come back. I waited an hour, still no display. Pulled power to both monitor and machine, rebooted, still no display. Removed everything except CPU and 1 stick of RAM, still nothing. At this point I am assuming the BIOS is corrupted. This was mostly new hardware except for the PSU, case, and fans. Anything left for me to try? Thanks in advance.

Okay, so I'm new to pc building, but have wanted to build a gaming rig for a while. I did my research and bought parts that would be compatible and work together. After putting everything together I ran into an issue. The computer powers on but there isn't any output to a display. The fans turn on but nothing else. I have tried everything from reseating all the parts to trying different monitors and cables but nothing works. I have come to the conclusion that the current bios is incompatible with the CPU I have purchased. Therefore, a bios update is needed for the CPU to work with my motherboard. Unfortunately, the motherboard needs a CPU (that I don't have and would need to purchase.) that is compatible with the current bios of the motherboard, in order to to upgrade the BIOS to work with the CPU I have. (A "catch 22" situation.) In addition, the motherboard I have is about 8 years old (but new in box and never used), so I'm wondering if its worth it to take it to a pc repair shop to get the bios updated. Key Points - I don't want to spend money on a new motherboard if updating the BIOS works. - I don't want to have to buy any more parts (i.e. new ram*, new CPU, new PSU, etc.) *(I did buy ram that is slightly faster than originally recommended by the manufacturer, believing it would work and still be recognized but slightly bottlenecked by rest of hardware.) - I want the PC to last a good while before needing to make upgrades. - I don't want to have to spend any more money than completely necessary. I already feel like i spent too much money on this already. - I still need to purchase Windows 11 O.S. - I still want to get more internal cooling fans So here's my question. Should I bother taking the motherboard to a repair shop to get the BIOS updated, or should I just buy a more modern motherboard altogether. Option 1 Get the BIOS updated at a local repair shop to work with my current parts. Pros: - Cheaper - Don't have to get a new motherboard. Cons: - No guarantee that the ram will be compatible after bios update. - Might need to get parts that are more compatible. Option 2 Buy a new motherboard. Pros: - More likely to work with my current parts - Bios flashing would be easier - More "Future Proof" (would last longer before needing an upgrade) Cons: - More expensive option - Might need to buy more compatible parts For reference here is my build so far: CASE: Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 TG mATX (MCW-L3S3-KGNN-00) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 RAM: TeamGroup "T-Force Vulcan Z" DDR4 3200mhz 2x8gb (16gb total) PSU: Segotep 650W 80 Plus Gold Certified Non-Modular ATX Power Supply GPU: Gaming Radeon RX 6650 XT 128-bit 8GB GDDR6 (RX 6650 XT MECH 2X 8G OC) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350M-D3H (Rev 1.0) Storage: Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280 & Samsung 870 EVO 500GB SATA 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-77E500) Any and all input and advice would be greatly appreciated. At first, the usbc in the front panel of my MSI MPG Gungnir 110r case didn't work at all because it wasn't plugged in correctly to the mobo (asus z790 prime-v) so I plugged it in correctly and now it outputs power but does not detect any device at all and shows the error "Device Descriptor Request Failed". I suspect it might be that the usb-c on the case is 3.2 gen 2x2 and the header in my mobo is 3.2 gen 1 and that there is some compatibility issue. The header on the motherboard fits kind of lose anyway, I don't know if I could've broken something trying to get it to fit tight.

I have a chinese motherboard Machinist B75 Pro U5. According to the manual (very hard to find by the way, didn't comes in the box) "Supports Intel Core i3/i5/i7 2th or 3th generation, Xeon E3 v2, Pentium and Celeron series processors". Now is working fine with a i5 3470s CPU. For gaming it works really good actually. I just got a i7 3770k CPU and i have installed it, but here comes the problem. 1 second after turn the PC on, 4 beeps can be heard: no video, no boot, no BIOS. I thought may be the CPU is damaged or dead, so i put it in another old hp office class computer (HP Compaq Pro 4300, the one where i have removed the current i5 3470s CPU in the first place) with the same socket (LGA 1155). For my surprise, the i7 3770k CPU works fine in this junk. So we can discard the CPU as a problem. Working Around: According to UserBenchmark and cpu-upgrade websites, i7 3770k is compatible with this motherboard According to Intel Ark, i7 3770k's main differences with i5 3470s are: Total Threads (8 vs 4), base frequency (3.50 vs 2.90 GHz), cache size (8 vs 6 MB) and power consumption (77 vs 65 watts). The last one makes me wonder if this can be the issue. The "official" Machinist website, says it works with the i7 3770k. If i put back the i5 3470s CPU into the motherboard, starts with 4 beeps and boot with no problem... after restart, no beeps can be heard again. It seems like it use this beeps as a warning in case some hardware changes. I can't find any "beeps meaning" table or documentation in internet nor the motherboard manual. Current Setup: Machinist B75 Pro U5 Motherboard 700w Power Supply Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU 1 M.2 NGFF, 1 SSD and 2 HDD Units 2 x 8GB Fury HyperX 1866mhz DDR3 RAM Any ideas about why i7 3770k CPU does not works in this motherboard? b75prou5.pdf

Z390 Aorus Elite motherboard question. Hi. I have a question. Is it normal that when I turn my ErP to enabled, so that when i turn my power supply switch ON - it starts for around 3 sec and automaticaly turns OFF. It happens only if i turned OFF before my PSU switch for a couple minutes. Meanwhile CPU, DRAM, VGA leds are changing one to another, ten it shuts off. It only happens when I turn off my power supply switch. (Im not pressing case power switch). After that it boots normally, when i press power button on my case. I need this option enabled because my keyboard LEDs are on when I shutdown my pc. Opinion from Aorus boards owners would be awesome. 20240113_093607.mp4 20240113_095020.mp4

Hi, well first of all im new to actually going into my computer, but i think i know how everything goes pretty much. I know how to take out my graphics card, my ram, some fans, im having issues with taking out my filter and cleanjng it, but an air duster will work as far as i know. But today i wanted to clean up my computer as my fans have gotten really dirty after my 1 month vacation and in the end it evolved into me cleaning up my whole pc, then i had the possibly foolish idea to take out my cpu, as in some weeks ill be buying a new one for my pc, and then things got a bit messy. (For context, my motherboard has the pins, not my cpu.) My first mistake was taking out my cpu when my pc was upright, maybe thats what killed it, from what i could tell my cpu is in good state, but i doubt the motherboard is. Second, maybe i got too paranoid of my motherboards pins not being up to shape after i inspected it. Im not sure if my motherboard is dead, ot doesnt help that i have eye issues and i cant really see up close. I can provide more images if needed. I just need to know if my motherboard is over, i just need confirmation. I know that you can get the pins unbent, but im not sure if im going to be able to do that alone, and maybe itll be best for me to send it to a technician. Also post assembly, it doesnt want to boot up, theres power i suppose but it doesnt want to turn on. Motherboard: H410M-HDV CPU: I3-10100 3.6 GhZ (the main reason iven wanting to upgrade) Any help will be welcome.

My PC works fine except that if you cut the power to it, it will always restart itself after a few seconds once you boot it again. I've enabled XMP for my ram, so it runs at 6600 MHz instead of 4800. I think the yellow light is for BOOT, but I'm gonna post pictures. My specs: https://se.pcpartpicker.com/user/PolishGuy/saved/nJkmLk (I have no GPU in my computer for the moment and there's a yellow light) Otherwise it's all good performance (except that I'm using my iGPU for the moment) and my PC doesn't randomly turn off. If the photos are unclear, I could provide more.

I have a HP 8300 MT with the Q77 Chipset, which supports 2nd and 3rd generation Intel processors. Sometimes it boots normally,, sometimes it's totally dead. The PSU is good and working, as is the processor (tested). Possibly a board issue, but this same issue was observed in four motherboards of the same model, HP 8300/6300. Is there a issue with HP or with this chipset, Q77?

(Sorry for my english) I recently decided i want to build a pc. I already have one but its getting old and i will upgrade it I was thinking on a motherboard but I dont see the difference of the atx and the matx. Yeah ofc there is the height difference but is there something else? I rather pay 155€ for a matx than 215 for an atx. Build:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/d9XpDZ

quick question, Both Speccy and HWMonitor are reporting a temperature of 12-13 degrees celcius, which is below ambient temperature (believe it or not, my house is not 12 degrees). so, is this normal, or should I be worried? Does anybody else have this phenomenon? Bye. Edit: room temp is a chilly 14 degrees, just turned on the heater

Hello, I'm in the process of purchasing parts and I've come across a question in regards to NVME 5.0. So my MOBO is going to be the Asus ROG Strix Z790-E, and I've noticed that they have made the board with a NVME 5.0 slot. So my question is... will that slot take away from my 4090 in terms of PCIE lanes. Really I'm asking to confirm since the nvme 5.0 is fairly new and im not up to date with all of that.

Hi there! I'm building my first pc and i've run into an issue while installing my cpu cooler. I'm working with a B550 Tomahawk Max motherboard and I'm trying to install a Peerless Assassin 120 SE cpu cooler for my AMD cpu. However, the standoffs that came with the Assassin 120 are not fitting onto the motherboard at all. One of the standoffs slipped on no problem, but the other three won't fit on the motherboard at all. What should I do in this situation? Any recommendations? Thank you.
