  1. Oh yeah I know, we just wanna replace our main room TV and I've been looking since about Black Friday. I know there's always gonna be something new and better but at least having something with HDR seemed reasonable and sticking to 1080p also seemed silly. Currently upgrading from a plain 40" 1080p non smart TV. We have a PS4 and Xbox One although will probably sell those on Reddit and swap for the Pro/S versions soon. Otherwise it's just Comcast/Netflix/Amazon Prime content.
  2. I'm looking to purchase a 4k TV, preferably with HDR10, and have my eyes on the LG UH7700 model (specifically the 55"). Currently it's around $899 which seems great since it launched around $1799. I don't really have a preference in terms of Hz but it is 240. Anyway, think I should pick this one up or wait and see about 2017 models? I'm in no rush but really don't want to spend over $1k so that's why my eyes gravitated towards this.
  3. Okay, that was my thought but part of me was hoping late 2016.. oh well! Thanks guys.
  4. I still think I rather stick do a discrete card over the APU integrated one. I want to use a 1440p monitor with decent frame rates. Preferably want that 8 Core Zen they keep teasing about and a Vega card.
  5. I'm currently gamingpc-less and with some new hardware releases I'm tempted to build. I know Polaris is coming this month but if I was waiting for Zen + Vega what timeframe am I looking at you think? I'd like to go m-itx so one powerful card is what I'm looking at.
  6. I mean the ram itself is the same thickness... are you asking about in regards to the heatsink on it?
  7. I didn't read the entire post, I will soon just short on time, but I would generally agree with you. I used to have an 8350 that I OC'd well and crossfired 2 290X's and noticed the CPU bottlenecking by doing similar tests... It still performed very well and gave me great frame rates but could have been better. My main test game was BF4 where I noticed this. Edit: I downgraded my entire system as seen in my sig. Just don't need all that horsepower anymore and switched back to basic old 1080p
  8. You are right it does not have 30A. You may run into problems but it may still power... I'd purchase a non eco version, the 520W version you posted, or any overall better PSU that can handle these things. Don't gimp out on the PSU the last thing you want is it frying your entire system. Also, if you have plans to OC the CPU or GPU or add another 280X in Crossfire down the road I'd pick up a better PSU as well. I know your budget is limited but it's worth considering.
  9. You realize their 8 core came out in 2011 right... it's 2015 now. The competition was a bit more relevant back then.
  10. Well I'm gonna first point out that I don't think you once mentioned a CPU... but posted in the CPU section so that's cool I guess. They definitely do have power efficient mobile chips though and their timeline outlines even more things. It's just taking time for them. They're a fraction of the size of Intel. I'll always have faith in them and do enjoy their products. Eventually it'll get there I'm sure. Businesses thrive from competition.
  11. What CPU are you using in addition to the 280x? You should definitely be fine with a 600W PSU though. Seasonic, CM, Corsair, Antec etc would all be quality enough and you can use the convertor if the specific PSU model doesn't have the 8pin available.
  12. Usually it's quite alright to use them. I have in the past and that's why the GPUs come with them as not all PSUs have an 8pin connector. What PSU are you using? I'd only be weary if it's a cheap model.
