  1. This was the fix for my problem, Answer from reddit. If it is Intel platform, likely culprit is Intel IRST/VMD, type of drive control that Windows doesn't have drivers for. If there is option in bios switch from IRST to standard AHCI, if there is not you will need to download and extract IRST drivers from Lenovo support website, and put them on usb drive, point to them ("Load Drivers") during setup when no drive is detected. Changing from VMD to IRST in BIos allowed my to view and format the drive
  2. I got the command screen open, Had to hold Fn button also list disk doesn't show the ssd. I can see the ssd in the bios so I know the computer detects it. Is there a setting that isn't correct. I feel like i'm so close yet the same amount of far away
  3. So, I figured out the key to get into the bios on the lenovo. The instructions in that link are hard for a plebian like me to decipher. It says to use shift+f10 in windows setup from the drive. But in windows setup that doesn't do anything. It seems like they want me into a command prompt section but do I get the from the BIos window? Edit:In the bios menu I can see the SSD, So that's a bit comforting
  4. Drive seemed to have died in lenovo laptop. Purchased a new NVME Ssd and installed with the battery unplugged. Booted from windows 11 flash drive and the new drive doesn't show up in the list of drives to install onto. Do I need to do something else to get the drive to show up for install? Is this 3v coincell battery looking section a backup battery that also need to be unhooked? Thanks
  5. Payroll Is In, Had Moved Everything she had to an ssd, Did a full install from a flash drive. This got stuck in a loop because the bios would only let me set the priority where it would boot from first. But, then it got mad that it didn't have a drive after the windows install step and wouldn't let me back into the bios to switch back to booting from the drive to finish the windows install and setup. Then it took like an hour to kill off all of the windows AI nonsense in windows 11 that was just dragging it down to a crawl. Literally took 30 minutes just to get shutup10++ to install and run. Also getting quickbooks to load up a backup file from a fresh install took like an hour because you have to confirm everything multiple times. Now the computer works as intended. What a bag of silly.
  6. Quickbooks won't allow my employer to submit payroll because she's still on windows 10. The windows 11 update spends hours downloading, then updating, then reverting to just still be on Windows 10. WTF? I'm going to pull all of her stuff off and throw it on an external drive so that I can do whatever we gotta do. Is there a download or something to throw windows 11 on a separate drive so that I can install windows 11 in without having to do their automated update tool? Please help me, last time I did this I had the Windows XP Key that everyone had. I've been outta the game for too long. The more you step by step it for me in crayon the better. Thanks. I'd like to get payed
  7. Well thanks for help. Really was great to ease the anxiety of ordering parts and doing something stressful. Really put my mind at ease to blindly order one of the clearly not the same panel options with the same part number while bombarded with notices that panels arent returnable.
  8. Dog smoked my laptop screen. No tutorials online. Managed to get to the screen label which required destructive methods(screen was already completely toast anyway) confused about what to buy because searching the partnumber brings up a variety of things that dont look correct. Ive included photos of the labels for the whole notebook amd the screen. Yes i disconnected the power supply and yes i disconnected the whole upper/screen assembly before continuing the destruction.
  9. I finally managed to restart the computer without it needing to install 10 updates lol. I think I just don't know how to find the settings I need to find on mac
  10. They are old. I've been running updates every night lol. Getting caught up on that.
  11. I just started working at a different shop and there are 2 macs here that I need to make play a little more nicely. Issue 1; The symbol scanner on the Mac works fine. I need to change the setting that makes it hit enter after scanning. On pc you simply right click properties and check a box for this setting. On Mac I don't know how to get to the properties page or if there is one. Issue 2; One Mac has a barcode printer that works fine. I want the other Mac to also print on that printer. On pc i would just view that printer on the other computer through the network and click on it. On mac I can't seem to figure that out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  12. Work Laptop, Wont connect to internet. Connects to network wirelessly and wired. Point of sales software communicates between computers. Shared Printers work. Took computer home, same thing at home on different network. Computer will sometimes load the google page you searched for 5 minutes ago, but not retain connection. All other computers connect fine wired and wireless. Have turned off firewall, No difference. Who has a different rabbit hole I can go down?
  13. I debated this. I was hoping to bypass the router ti limit the load on it. It goes down alot linksys, what can i say. I didnt think of the ip address thing. As soon as you said it it made sense to me
  14. The network where I work has been a rats nest of cables and B***$*it for years. I picked up an unmanaged 16 port switch from netgear and and wired everything up with fresh new cat 6 cable. The switch seems to be working just fine as all the computers talk to each other and see each other's printers, BUUUTTT, the internet seems the only work its way to whatever computer last had internet. Whichever computer I plug directly into the modem last will receive internet when everything is wired through the switch, but no other computers receive internet at the same time. Might be helpful info, IDK I have the line from the modem into port 1 on the switch I am attempting to run everything hardwired through the switch rather than through the Linksys router in the "wifi" slot. The one that says server isn't a real server, it's a pc that acts as a server for just point of sales software. Otherwise it's not a server. This feature is working through the switch and all the point of sales machines are talking and working. But with no internet they can't process payments.
