I tried both the old and new RAM individually in another machine both of them work perfect in that machine. I tried either of the rams in the DIMM 1 slot/ I tired both of them in either or DIMM 1 & 2 slots/ I tried the DIMM 2 slot For a few minutes the system booted normally with both the RAMS in the motherboard, that was very odd, and then it stopped . I checked the PSU by shorting the 4th and 5th pin. that works OK. I removed the pins that connect the cabinet power button to the motherboard and started the system directly by shorting the two pins the system starts, but does not stop if i keep the pins connected for 5 secs. I do not know how to check if a mother board is faulty or not, so that's going to be a hassle.

I built this config for a friend 3 years ago don't remember the specifications but it is a i3 and a intel motherboard - cheapest versions of the time it has 2 x 2 GB RAM modules one of those RAM's stopped working for some reason the system was running a bit slow on the 2 GB RAM so I got a 4 GB RAM now that I install that RAM I do not get the display what's weird is that now if I only have the old 2 GB RAM installed I do not get the display When the power on the system The CPU Fan keeps spinning at full speed probably and when i try to shut-down the system by pressing the power button it does not work I even tried pressing the power button for 5 - 10 secs, but that does not work either I am out of ideas as to what could be the problem Someone please help me out Thank You.

I a buying new Mobo, CPU and RAM as follows i7 4790k or i5 4690k MSI Z97 SLI PLUS or MSI Z97 Gaming 3 8gb Tridentx RAM I already have a GT 520 2GB I know its weak my primary purpose is beginner level 3d Google sketchup and I might try 3d Max later So should I go for 4690k and a GPU or 4790k and integrated graphics would suffice for my needs?
