  1. I don't know, when the word *sponsored* is used I always take it with a pinch of salt as it's not a review and there will always be some bias there, but the Benjamin's need to be earned somehow and YouTube ad revenue ain't it chief. As long as it's declared I don't care. - Anyone sensible will read a few reviews and watch a few videos before making a big purchase.
  2. If only it had USB-C, I've been looking for something that has both USB-B 3.0 and USB-C so I can connect to computers to it and act as a KVM but not much out there, think i'll end up going with the Dell U3219Q
  3. Have you made the jump yet on one of these? Personally I'm looking at the Dell U3219Q, KVM feature seems like a really nice thing to have with working from home at the moment and Dell Display Manager is a pretty nice bit of software.
  4. Pretty sure he just wanted to make a video about cable management and managed to get a company to pay for it while given them hardly any focus in the video, I was more interested in how much Linus was going to break with his drill. If it was truly a Logitech puff piece, he'd have drawn a LOT more attention to the Brio sitting on top of the monitor. Sponsorship is sponsorship, if it's declared as it was, I don't care. If I want to buy something expensive I'll always check multiple reviews anyway so it makes no difference to me if one or two are sponsored. I like to hope that LTT wouldn't put on a show for a crappy product.
  5. Then there's this seller trying to shift one for 7.5k... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B01GRFFCV8/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new
  6. Have you got any insight regarding the frequent price changes and low stock everywhere. When I first saw it, it was on Amazon for £1300, with my student discount I could have grabbed it for £1250 which would have been a steal, but with it being a new product I held off for a bit thinking well, it's a NAS. Prices on drives typically go down not up (at least not by much), alas the other day I go onto Amazon and it's selling for £1800+, now today it's £1399. http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/WD-Professional-Network-Attached-Storage/product/B01GRFFCV8?active=price_amazon&context=home_alerts Also nobody has stock, places I've looked. WD Store Amazon Broadband Buyer Span.com Scan eBuyer Maplin Argos PC World/PC World Business For a NAS vendor that typically gets demolished by QNAP/Synology on the top end, WD really need to start shifting units out so we can get some honest reviews and the app list at the moment is pretty poor, cloud backup support only for two companies? Why no Amazon Drive? OneDrive? Google Drive? I plan to buy one but these concerns need to be addressed before I think many people will take the plunge.
  7. Would that have even worked on my mobo? 1st PC build, previous ones were all salvaged crap from other PCs but I was under the impression that I'd need to oc to get to something that high.
  8. The default at 2133Mhz were 15-15-15-36 but I believe I need to hit around 14-16-16-31 according to the spec sheet and it just crapshoots if I try it. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-lpx-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-dram-2400mhz-c14-memory-kit-red-cmk16gx4m2a2400c14r
  9. Well, my RAM is rated for 2400 and is currently running at 2133. Why not if it should technically work, I want it to work .
  10. Soo, I built myself a new rig. Specs below. http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/a109cdb8-da4f-4943-9854-3263d16d5f12 Having issues overclocking this RAM, the best I could get from it is 2200 Mhz using the following settings. tCL = 16 TRCD = 16 tRP = 16 tRAS = 49 Which, seems a bit high. Enabling XMP just craps out saying that the overclock failed, however, if I remove one stick of RAM and leave one in it works fine, both sticks work if they're in on their own. Rang scan support and they essentially went yo dawg, bent CPU pin. Bollocks to that, I was extremely gentle, even as far to wear rubber gloves so I know the pins aren't bent. Anyone know of any issues with this mobo, RAM or any other suggestions? Also updated the bios, no difference :'(
  11. Cheers for the suggestions everyone, I'm kinda set on Skylake now. I'm getting it on finance anyway so cost is not going to be a huge impact on me, I live on about £500 per month after travel and food so it's not a huge issue. But Ok, can someone eli5 PCIE? So on the Intel spec sheet it says that the 6700k supports 16x PCIE lanes, enough for one GPU? But then DMI supports 4, is that an additional 4 or 12+ the 4 to get 16? BUT NOW... I watch this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWsEYGA1JbY2 and the dude says that the new z170 chipset splits up the PCIE lanes somewhat, so you get 16x on the CPU and an ADDITIONAL 20x on the chipset going to a total of 36 lanes. So am I being dumb thinking that I can run two 980s in SLI at 16x each and run one PCIE SSD at 4x and it'll 'just work', http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/1c4b1671-705d-43f7-9256-1569b0b2019c
  12. Looking to get this setup going but I'm a little worried about my pcie lanes, 16 going straight to the GPU and 4 to the SSD. Will it have any issues as it's cutting it fine or is it simply a case of I have enough so ready to rock? Also if I plan to go sli in the future, will that whack out my storage or will I still be able to use it only at a reduced speed or will it simply cut my 16x gpu to an 8x leaving the 4x storage in tack. http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/c9070b8d-a063-4241-b4c7-907c6e7ca20f Building it for gaming really but I tend to live on a 5-7 year upgrade cycle hence why I'm going all out on this. My last GTX 470 only got axed last year as it was preforming really well until BF4 came out.
  13. Yeah you're gonna want Cat5e, Cat6 is only really useful if you have a 10 gigabit card or have a bunch of power cables and data cables running alongside it which could cause crosstalk. Probably be cheaper and more of a clean finish if you crimp your own or use wall faceplates but that depends on if you're confident whipping out the tool kit.
