  1. Thank you for your response! I guess the new hardware would have to be the cause of this issue. Since I'm planning on upgrading soon anyway, I'll just have to deal with the noise for a while. I'm currently on 1440/144 so I'm looking to get a 6800XT, but we'll have to see how that launch goes
  2. Hi, Today I upgraded my i7-4790k and Gigabyte Z97P-D3 to a Ryzen 5 5600X with a MSI B550 Tomahawk. The video card I am using is the MSI GTX 1660 Super Gaming X. In my previous setup this card was absolutely silent. I would only hear coil whine in menu screens where my FPS would skyrocket, but not in games. After upgrading I tested RDR2 and Rocket League and noticed a huge amount of coil whine coming from my GPU. Probably the worst coil whine I've ever heard. In games like Factorio there is pretty much no coil whine at all. So it mainly seems to be happening when the GPU is pushed to 100%. Now it's not the biggest problem because I am planning on upgrading my GPU anyway, but because of the stock issues lately I'll probably be using this card for a while and the coil whine is really annoying. I also find it very odd that the coil whine started appearing after upgrading. I've already tried quite a few things to solve this issue, but to no avail. So far I've tried a different PSU port, different 8-pin cable, different PCIe slot, vsync and undervolting the card. Now my question is, would it be possible for an upgrade like this to cause coil whine (seems like the answer is yes) and what would be the cause of it? Could it be because there is a small GPU bottleneck? I would love to hear your thoughts or experiences on this topic. Specs if needed: Ryzen 5 5600x MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 (3200) Seasonic Focus GX-650 MSI GTX 1660 Super Gaming X Bunch of Corsair RGB fans TL;DR: Upgraded my i7-4790k to a Ryzen 5 5600x and my 1660 Super started generating coil whine while it did not do this is my old system.
  3. Just ordered a MSI R9 390, thanks for the response everyone!
  4. Hmm waiting isn't exactly my strongest suit Anyways, I'm currently trying to choose between the 970 and the 390. I like the 390 a lot but I'm still not 100% sure of my 550w PSU liking that card.
  5. The R9 390 does look good but I'm not sure if my 550W XFX PSU will be able to run that card.
  6. Hello guys At the moment I kind of want to upgrade my video card but I'm not 100% sure. I currently have a Sapphire HD 7950 3GB Boost Edition which can barely max out most games these days. I'm thinking about upgrading it to an EVGA GTX 970 but as I said, I'm not 100% sure. Are there people here that have done a similar upgrade before? Is it worth the upgrade? I've heard some people say that if you want a card now waiting for the next ''new'' thing is a good option. But knowing my impatient self I'm not sure if that's an option. Thanks in advance! - wertyuipo
  7. Hmmm I really want to buy the card but it voice in the back of my head tells me tot wait. I guess I can try to wait for a while. Thanks for the replies so far.
  8. Hey guys. I really want a new GPU while I can still sell my HD 7950 for around €100 but I don't know if I should get the 970 or wait for the new AMD cards. The rumours of the new AMD cards are very promising but there isn't really a release date for it. If I wait too long the value my HD 7950 will probably drop. What are your opinions on this matter?
  9. Thanks for the replies guys! I decided to wait till Dying Light comes out and see how my processor runs. If it runs well I will wait for Skylake. If not, I will get the 4690k. Do you guys have any motherboard suggestions? I currently have the Asrock B85M Pro4 and a new Windows License on my list.
  10. Hey guys. I currently have a i5-2320 3.0 Ghz which is getting pretty old by now. I'm using it in combination with a MS-7728 Motherboard. (OEM) I really want to upgrade my CPU since the CPU requirements for Dying Light and GTA V are pretty high. I'm thinking about getting the i5-4690k or the i7-4790k but I also think about waiting till Skylake gets released. What are your opinions on this? Should I wait or is it not worth the wait?
  11. Awesome! Thanks for the quick replies!
  12. Hey guys I don't know a lot about RAM and buying the right RAM for my system. I currently have 4GB of 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM. My motherboard only supports 1066 and 1333Mhz RAM so I'm wondering if it will downclock the RAM speed if I get 1600Mhz RAM. Also, Does the CAS Latency matter when buying RAM? Here are my specs: CPU: i5-2320 GPU: Sapphire HD 7950 3GB RAM: 4GB Motherboard: MS-7728 (It's from a prebuilt Medion PC) PSU: XFX Pro 550W This is the RAM I want to buy: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/377487/kingston-hyperx-fury-blu-hx316c10f-8/specificaties/ Name: Kingston HyperX Fury Blu 1x 8GB (So I can upgrade it to 16 later) 1600Mhz DDR3 CAS Latency: 10 Thanks in advance!
  13. It can max everything out but in most games it won't be a solid 60fps. I'm probably going to wait till GTA V comes out and I'll be upgrading my RAM before getting a new GPU.
  14. I guess I could just get a 970 and upgrade my CPU later. Thanks for the replies!
  15. Hmm I see, but I will see an actual difference in performance right? I do have money to get some extra RAM but a CPU upgrade would be too much.
