  1. Hmmm. I haven't looked too much into that one. I'd be worried about the RAM clearance though.
  2. Nice! That's great to hear, I was worried that the 6700 was at the limit for the TDP of the cooler but if you're 4460 is good at 84W then I should be fine.
  3. Hey all! So I just upgraded my rig, I was running a 4770K at 4.3GHz (edit: with an H100i), 32GB RAM, Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H, MSI GTX 970, and a Corsair 500R and CX750M. I wanted to downsize and migrated to a Mini-ITX build. Now I'm running the following: i7 6700 G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB at 2133MHz ASUS Z170I PRO GAMING Fractal Design Node 304 Cooler Master V750 PSU Samsung 950 Pro M.2 256GB VNAND (OS) Crucial MX100 250GB (Games) Western Digital Black 2TB (Mass Storage) I'm currently using the stock Intel cooler thinking, oh it can't be that bad since I'm not planning to overclock. Well. It is. It's super loud and annoying. What are your favorite coolers for Mini-ITX builds? I've been looking at the Cooler Master GeminII M4, Noctua NH-L9i, and the NZXT Kraken X41.
  4. Hey everyone, So I'm going to be downsizing my rig from ATX to Mini-ITX. My old roommate has a Mini-ITX build and I fell in love with the form factor. The only things I'm keeping from my previous build will be my Corsair AX860i and my MSI GTX 970. I'm looking at the Fractal Design Node 304 and was curious if anyone had this particular PSU/GPU combo in that case and how it fits. The motherboard I'm looking to use will be the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 if that matters. Thanks!
  5. Well then. I guess I need to study more. Either way, is that IP range within a Class C subnet? I believe it's a /16 subnet but I had the classes confused. EDIT: Yes. I've got a home lab setup for Cisco cert training and wanted to reserve some IP addresses for the new gear (2x 1841's, 3550, 3560) I.E. 192.168.2.1-2 -> 1841's 192.168.3.1-2 -> 3550 & 3560. etc.
  6. Hey everyone, So I'm trying to configure my network and wanted to change to a Class B Subnet (255.255.0.0). I've changed my subnet in the LAN section of my router but when I go into DHCP to change the start and end IP addresses from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.255.255, it tells me that they are out of range. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those IP's the range of a Class B subnet? My default gateway is 192.168.1.1 if that matters. Thanks for the help!
  7. I'm going to be working mainly inside the switch. My SO mainly uses the wireless but they shouldn't have much downtime while I get the switch configured I hope.
  8. I might do the Network+ first, but the CCNA is definitely going to get done not shortly after!
  9. My modem only has one Ethernet output, sadly.
  10. Hello everyone, I was just given a layer 3 switch from work (a Dell PowerConnect 2824) so I could prepare for some certs I'm planning to get in the near future, i.e. network+, security+, CCNA, etc. I already have my A+. I was wondering where to install it? Should I place the switch between the modem and router (modem -> switch -> router) or should I use one of the ports on the router to connect the switch to? Thanks!
  11. Thank you for the advice! I'm not sure if my router has the capability to assign pools. It's a D-Link 868L AC 1750. I'm having issues with reserving IP addresses for devices which I have a ticket open with Optimum about.
  12. It is working fine, I was just making sure it was alright that two devices had the same IP address. It's a Optimum branded D-Link DIR0868L AC 1750.
  13. Hey everyone, So I'm new-ish into the IT world. I have a minor in CS and have just finished my first week of my first "real person" job, a Help Desk Analyst position. I'm configuring my wireless network as two different SSID's, one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz. The issue I'm having is that DHCP is assigning two different devices the same IP. These devices are split between the 2.4GHz network and the 5GHz network. My question is that if it's okay to have the same IP address considering they are on the two different SSID's. Thanks for all your help!
  14. I have nothing overclocked. Is Crossfire really this buggy or is something actually wrong with the cards? I'll try disabling it and update later.
  15. Hey guys, I've been having some issues with Crossfire recently causing my games to freeze up my whole system. I've tried drivers 14.12 and the two most recent Beta drivers but the issue still persists. I'm running two Sapphire Dual-X R9 270X's. Is the CX750M enough for Crossfire with these cards? Thanks.
