  1. So you just replaced the CPU? Did you find out the cause ?
  2. I don't think so. My friend's CPU works and after some researching, I found out if I disable all cores except for 1, my PC boots up. It has to the the CPU
  3. Hey everyone, Just yesterday my PC randomly froze while I was browsing the web and I started getting B.S.O.D. I got errors such as crypto library internal error and critical process died. At first i thought it was a driver issue and at first I was able to successfully roll back drivers. It was working for another couple of hours until I went downstairs to watch a movie. When i came back up, my PC was turned off and I realised that I could no longer boot. I started troubleshooting each component and figured it was my CPU. I confirmed this by testing with my friends CPU which my PC then booted up. I am now looking to return my CPU to the retailer (I'm from Australia). I was wondering if any Aussies on here who have purchased through Mwave who can help me through this process. So far i have made a claim to AMD RMA and also a warranty/refund claim to Mwave. In this case does anyone know if I am allowed a refund/replacement straight away, or will I have to wait for them to test faults e.t.c and send my CPU to AMD before getting a new one? Btw I did not overclock.. Any help/advice would be appreciated :). Thanks.
  4. Ohhh okay, gotcha. Will probably go with the one you suggested. Thanks, really informative and helpful.
  5. Awesome! In regards to the GPU, is the one I listed in the original build that much worse than the one you suggested? Only because there is almost a $100 difference in price. Otherwise, really appreciate the help!
  6. Right, did not know that. Appreciate the tip mate.
  7. Awesome, thanks for the suggestion, really appreciate it!
  8. So my friend has finally decided to join the pcmasterrace and has asked me to pick some parts for his computer. The computer will be used mainly for gaming, such as fortnite, warzone/cod, csgo and some triple A titles here and there. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/jamesn/saved/#view=zMZdD3 These are the parts I have quickly picked out for now based on benchmarks e.t.c, but I will obviously adjust based on his budget (aiming for under $2k AUD, less is better) and he will be playing at 1080p 144hz (as the monitor I have chosen in the build). I feel like some things I have chosen might be overkill, but this is his first gaming PC, so I don't want to be too limiting. Could you guys help me see what things I can change to either make things cheaper or if there is anything that you guys think I should change based on compatibility e.t.c. Also because it is his birthday, my friends and I will be chipping in for one of the parts so it'll make the build go under $2k (which I have obviously passed in the build lol). Most likely be buying his monitor for him. The peripherals are not needed apart from the monitor. P.S I know the new ryzen and nvidia stuff comes out at the end of the year but waiting till then isn't an option. Thanks guys! Quick summary: Budget (including currency): Aiming for under $2000 AUD (the cheaper the better) Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Gaming (Mostly fps/battle royal games) Other details: 1080p resolution @ 144hz
  9. Haha, apparently it is a thing in Australia, but it's not as big/well known as in the US. Ill keep an eye out till then and see if i can snag any good deals! Thanks for the response
  10. Hey all, I want to upgrade my CPU. I have an Intel i5-3470 (3.20GHz) and i want to upgrade it because I've had it for a while and i notice that its slowly dying (high CPU usage in games/browsing internet/streams e.t.c). Since there's been so many different CPU's released between Intel and Ryzen i want some help in choosing. I also know that will have to upgrade my motherboard and also my RAM as well however those are much easier to choose (but any suggestions would also be nice). I will be mostly gaming (DOTA2, BO4, MHW). For GPU i have a 1060 6gb. In terms of budget, i would like to spend around $350-$400 for the CPU itself, whatever is the best value for me and my needs.. However, i don't mind spending an extra $50 or so if you guys think its worth it and especially if it'll ensure i won't have to upgrade for along time. P.S AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS
  11. Hi all, So it is about time i upgrade my rig. Most of the parts were bought around 5-6 years ago when i was in high school and now i would like to upgrade my cpu, motherboard and ram. My Gpu is a 1060 (got it as a gift) and my PSU is a corsair RMx 550. In terms of my budget, ideally i would like to spend around $500 AUD on the cpu + mobo combo and under $200 AUD for the ram. I want to aim for a mid to low high end range PC that i won't be needing to upgrade for a while. I would rather save money if its possible (whats the best bang for buck), but if there is more value in spending abit more than i will be glad to. So far i was having a look at the AMD CPUS, in particular the 2600 or the 2600x CPU and for the motherboard i'm not too sure if i have to get a different mobo if i got the 2600x, but i would probably go for the Msi b350 tomahawk motherboard. Right now ebay has a 20% off deal on the 2600 ($209 AUD) and 2600x going for ($276 AUD), do you guys think i should buy it as the sale ends in on the 20th of this month?. I'm not too sure what to go for ram and which one i would benefit the most from, so if you guys have any ideas let me know. Also if there are any products coming out soon that you guys think i should maybe wait for, please let me know, its been a while since ive been keeping up with all the latest tech. What will i be doing with this cpu is mostly gaming (dota2, monster world hunter, fortnite/pubg) and watching twitch streams/netflix. Thoughts or recommendations? Thanks!
  12. Well thanks guys, but he just made his mind up. He will be going with the s7. He will be able to get 50% cash back anyways, and plus he really likes the looks of it.
  13. So, he doesn't like the Asus Zenbook, and his mum apparently has the Sony, so he would like a different laptop. So once again the Macbook Air vs the Acer again
