  1. I would love to open event viewer but it closes on its own.
  2. I really need someone's help with this. I have done resets after resets and a clean install with a brand new media creation tool for windows. The problem is some programs like messenger, oculus, DCS world (flight sim game) sonic studio 3, my Logitech webcam program are just the ones I know of right now, when I double click to start the program it opens but then closes on its own. I'm at a complete loss of what to do. windows 10 pro on version 20h2 OS build 19042.804 trying to find info you guys will want and now device manager, advanced system settings open and then just closes on its own. Please help.
  3. It wasnt as easy as that but I got it done with both drives installed on the same motherboard.
  4. Hello all, Hoping someone can help me out. I bought a Samsung 970 Evo + and cloned it from my 960 Evo (both are M.2). The 970 + works fine now but I want to format and delete the 960 evo and put it back on the motherboard so I can use it. The problem is I cant connect both cause the computer will not boot, I think cause both drives have a OS on them. Is there a way to connect the drive and wipe it without me spending another 60 on a nvme external case to connect via usb to run a drive wipe?
  5. I went to go check in the bios and it was already set to enable on the quick boot. I did try the sign in to my microsoft account to relink for activation, it kept giving me "we cant activate windows right now, try again later. with an error code". which is why I called Microsoft. Windows is not the problem and has been activated.
  6. quick boot is enabled, I think by default.
  7. I did not reinstall windows, though i would love to have a fresh install of windows i have too much that I would have to redown load and install. If I absolutely have to I will do a freash install. I have have to call microsoft and get a new product key code cause windows would not activate on the new hardware.
  8. humm, not sure I turned it on when I posted and went into the bios. Will have to go check.
  9. Hello all, I just upgraded my rig and am having a very long boot time. I cant for the life of me figure out why. I upgraded from a i5 6600k, Asus Strix z290e gaming motherboard. The new parts are a i7 9700k, Asus Maximus XI hero (WiFi), and a new GPU which is a Asus ROG Strix rtx 2070 OC. I did not use a new boot drive, which is a Samsung SSD m.2 960 evo, I just took it off the old board and put it on the new board after I posted and went into the bios to set a few things. I powered off then put the ssd on the new board. Also I had to put the GPU in the second pci slot due to a shorter than I thought pci extension cable. I made a custom desk and inlay-ed the computer parts under glass in my desk and measured wrong. On the new motherboard is the second pci slot x16 or x8? any advise would be appreciated.
  10. I recently bought the Asus Claymore keyboard and I have the Asus z270e gaming motherboard. The claymore is supposed to be able to boot up by pressing fn+enter or long press enter (have done both). I have gotten the keyboard to do the fan function (turn speed of fan up or down) there are a few more functions that are cool but already have set in the bios. If my motherboard is able I would like to be able to boot up my computer with the keyboard. what am I missing, is it a bios setting, armoury setting, what? thanks for any help.

    Monitors

was wondering, Is there anyway to take a laptop screen out of a laptop and use it as a monitor for a desktop. I play DCS (A10c) and am wanting to get 2 MFD's and make them fully functioning. I just didn't know if there was a way to make a laptop screen work and what it would take, wiring wise or if it was possible. Thanks
  13. I am going to want to get 2 of these to put 1 into my son's room for his ps4 and computer and one for my desk to run my computer, ps4, dish network box and wifi. I really only want the wifi and not the ports on the wifi router. I only use the wifi for my phones and tablets.
  14. what is link aggregation?
  15. ok what about easy smart or unmanaged?
  16. Hello All, I'm looking at getting a Ethernet switch. I bought my own modem and I'm giving xfinity their crap back. I just need to know If I need a 10/100 or a 10/100/1000. I do get good speeds with xfinity just not sure if a gigabit Ethernet switch is too much or not. Thanks for your help.
  17. I have not had any issues with windows 10 yet, and I really like it better than 8.1 pro.
  18. I just wanted to let everyone know what the problem was. It was the CPU, which suprises me cause they are supposed to be really hard to kill. But at least I figured it out and got it fixed. Thanks to all of you that replied it helped with diagnosing the problem.
  19. if it was the HDD wouldn't there at least be a screen that said something like no bootable device detected, on a black screen with white letters. the issue is there is no screen being shown with any kind of info. I can turn my monitor off and then back on just to make sure and there is nothing.
  20. The only thing that I have extra was the GPU, I don't have another CPU or MOBO. I guess I could take my PSU out and check it on his but that's going to be a job and a half. Not to mention I really DONT want to have to do that. The three we put warranties on were the GPU, MOBO, and CPU. I guess I could tell him to just take both the MOBO and the CPU back. The PSU has more than enough power to run his machine so I know that's not it.
  21. do you have any other opinions or suggestions?
  22. Hello again, A friend of mine unplugged his computer from the wall cause it froze up and then plugged it back in. I know I already educated him. But when he tried to turn it back on the computer acted like it was turning on. All the fans turn the PSU's fan is turning and I can feel the HDD running. There is just no picture on the monitor. I took his GPU out and stuck it in mine and it worked. I stuck one of my GPU's in his and nothing. I have cleared the CMOS. I'm starting to think its either the MOBO or the CPU. I really think its the CPU cause the MOBO is distributing power. There is no flash screen or going into the BIOS, which is why I think its the CPU. I just wanted to run this by you guys and gals before I pulled out the CPU and sent him to where he bought it to get a new one. As always thanks for the help.
  23. Thanks guys, I used Remo Drive wipe. Found it before the dban suggestion. For a while there it just looked like it was not going to take the OS off. as soon as it finished and I hit exit the screen went blue with info on it, and just to make sure I tried to start it back up and it would not boot. Said something like no bootable media found. Thanks, Im just not good with the software but I can build.
  24. I am getting rid of a old computer. I have stripped it of useable parts. The hard drive has windows XP on it and I want to just completely wipe the drive and put it into another computer to use it as extra storage and or for back up? I did not want to just throw it in the newer computer without wiping it first, didn't know if that would cause a problem when starting up cause there is 2 hdd with two different OS's plugged in. Guess the question is how do I nuke the drive clean like it just came out of the box?
  25. I just talked to them to and asked about upgrades to components. they told me to do the upgrades of the hardware first then do the upgrade to windows 10. I was told that if I upgrade to 10 first then make hardware changes (I asked about changing from AMD chip to Intel chip and Intel MOBO) I would have to buy windows to that I would not be able to retro grade to a previous version of windows then upgrade back to 10. So much for the CEO of Microsoft saying that windows 10 is free and you will be able to do a clean install if necessary. Oh they also told me that the windows 10 upgrade does NOT have a product key code. the only way to get a product key code is to go buy windows 10.
