Nick Ray's Achievements

  1. So this is my first ever PC build. After months of research and waiting for sales on parts, i was able to put together this box of goodness. Though im going to need a bigger case. CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max GPU: Rog Strix GTX 1080 8GB PSU: Corsair CX 650M RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 16GB 3000Mhz CL15 SSD: Adata XPG SX-8200 256GB HDD: 2TB Seagate Baracuda Cooling: Fractal Design Celcius S24 AIO Corsair ML120 x2 Case: Phanteks P300A https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Rayx/saved/HxFMvK I've heard keeping the Hoses on the radiator on the bottom is better for the pump and is less noisy, although im not sure if the AIO pipes are long enough.
  2. I get the proper speeds on every other device.whats weird is that when i download a file it will give me the maximum speed, but speedtests always show sub 10mbps. I'm assuming its some sort of "Use only when needed" thing with my laptop?
  3. I have no idea about what QoS is, ill look into it. My cpu usage doesn't go above 55% during the test. Not using a VPN, I don't use any anti-virus other than the built in windows defender. I'm on the same network, i made sure of that. Edit: I looked into QoS, i have no idea where to actually find it on my routers setup page, there is no option for it. I have the Cogeco provided Technicolor DPC3848VM . I should've given my system specs
  4. Ran into this issue recently. My laptop has been getting reduced internet speeds after the recent update for about 2 days now, while my girlfriends PC ( extremely old ) gets the maximum speed. Both connected through ethernet, I've tried switching my laptop to wifi (Intel AC8265) but i get the same low speed. Not sure what's causing this. 8.84mbps on laptop, 118.66mbps on PC (we pay for 120mbps unlimited)
  5. Hey there, I've been planning to build a new PC for my Girlfriend as hers is around 5 years old. We're looking for something under 1000 CAD (Tower only), should be able to upgrade it in the future as needed. I haven't been in the PC building scene for years as I switched to laptops. Usage Gaming : Witcher 3, Overwatch, Left4Dead2, AAA Titles. All other games are mostly smaller indie games. Performance : 60+ fps at High settings on newer games. ( Overwatch is always at all low 75% so it really doesn't matter ). Light video editing and Digital Art. AMD / Intel doesn't matter as long as it delivers the most performance for the price, won't be tinkering around with it a lot anyways. This build will be upgraded in the future, but we need something decent to start with for now, So far the best i've been able to find for the build is : (PcPartPicker List) CPU : Ryzen 5 2600 CPU Cooler : - No clue what to get - GPU : MSI GTX 1660 6gb RAM : Corsair Vengence LPX 16gb Motherboard : MSI B450 Tomahawk Storage : WD Caviar Blue 1TB ( will upgrade to a Samsung 970evo in the future) PSU : EVGA BR 500w Case : Reusing her old case, Keeping it a Sleeper till we can afford a dank case with RGB. OS : Windows 10 Home 64bit I'll be using NewEgg to order everything. If someone can cut down prices from the preliminary build that would be awesome!
  6. Which one would that be, a link would be nice...
  7. Aren't they both like wayyyyy over 1000 eu?
  8. The laptop is being paid for by the uni, so i can't really increase the budget :\ And WHICH 'asus one' are you refering to? G-Sync is not really needed, like i said, not gonna run the latest games on ultra graphics or anything.......
  9. So my budget is 1000‎€ .(fixed). Current Location : Austria I need a laptop mostly for project work, running simulations and video editing, gaming isn't a priority. Windows 7 if possible. Brands i'm looking at as of now are, Asus ROG MSI Lenovo Y-Series
