  1. Any idea what this is? It looks like paint to me, but want to make sure its not going to cause an issue with the board in general. Thanks!
  2. I am aware it was on sale was why I went with it. We are talking 30 dollars difference between gen 3 and gen 4. Still good to see where your drive stacks up though is why I posted it.
  3. Anyone running a 980 Pro 1TB on pci gen 3? If so what are you getting for benchmarks with magician. Got it because it was on sale and plan to upgrade to ryzen to get that gen 4 speed. Here is what I ended up with Sequential - 3539 Reads/3388 Writes Random 420654 Reads/ 358642 Writes.
  4. I returning it. If I am paying that much for a processor I really don't want to deal with quirks. I know that its not a dangerous issue but at 800 id want it to work flawlessly. Plus the 2nd chip I had was the one that was hanging the computer under load. 40 min drive to microcenter each way was not a game I wanted to continue to play.
  5. agreed. but at 800 dollars and to have 2 issues turned me off. I could have kept going the microcenter by me has like 350 of them which tells me amd is starting to push them out hard which makes me wonder about QC. Blender is going to have to deal with my 9700k for a bit longer i guess.
  6. I was using a 360 rad Corsair H150i Elite Capellix. Deff was not normal behavior. 30 degree spike with almost no change in load. I tried switching the windows performance settings which was a suggestion.
  7. yeah was pretty bummed. I do a lot of 3d work in blender and my 9700k doesn't always cut it but I wonder if AMD is having some QC issues right now.
  8. yep ended up trying the normal and beta bios on the dark hero board.
  9. Any recent AMD 5950x owners run into any stability and crazy temp swings? I ended up having to return and scrap my build after trying 2 processors 2 motherboards and 2 coolers. Ran into two different issues with each chip. First was crazy temp swings would be idling in the mid 40s and would open an app like steam and hit 70 degrees. The 2nd processor did not have the crazy temp swings but under load was not stable and would lock up the whole system. Was kinda sad I couldn't upgrade, but at that price point I expect it to perform.
  10. I got a weird one for everyone. I have a 9700K and an Asus Z390-E and when windows does a software update or I reboot sometimes the computer turned off and the motherboard appears to be getting no power as the lights all turn off on the board and graphics card. If i unplug the power supply it then will light back up and allow me to turn on the pc. I have already replaced the power supply, so that is not the issue. Anyone ever run into anything like this or have a fix?
  11. Ah. I was coming from a 4670k and those pretty much stayed flat or would fluctuate 1 or 2 degrees. I am fine if it does it. Like I said prime only hit 65 and stayed at 60 and that was with a 4.9 overclock.
  12. I just picked up a 9700k and the temps at idle are constantly jumping around is this normal? I will be sitting idle at 28 or 30 then jump up to 45 then back down again. This is every few seconds they are changing in hardware monitor and with asus ai suite. When I run prime 95 they fluctuate a lot less between 60 and 65.
  13. I have been one of those trying to hold off till 10nm that’s why I still have a 4670k. I finally replace my graphics card with a 2080 and the bottle neck is real... my frames are about the same as with a 970. At this point I feel like I need to just get it done. I’m hearing it could be 2020 before 10nm drops now.
