The Blu-Ray drive isn't necessary IMO. Save yourself some money, and Windows 8.1 will boot straight to the desktop so the Metro (modern) UI isn't as annoying. Aaron Hill is an autistic boy in Okeechobee who was lured out of his home by a girl claiming to want to go on a date. Once they got to the location she chose, he was ambushed by Andrew Wheeler and a gang of at least 8 other people. Andrew beat him senseless, held a knife to his throat, And told him he was going to shoot and kill him. Video of the incident was put on Andrew’s facebook and he went around bragging about his crime. He was arrested, but only charged with minor assault and no charges or arrests are being made on the others involved. This petition calls for Florida lawmakers to create a law that will make assaulting a disabled person a felony and give anyone who is convicted of assaulting an individual with either a physical or mental disability a mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison plus restitution. Aaron's Law will also give a mandatory minimum of 3 years in prison plus restitution for any individual who acts as an accomplice to the crime. You can help put an end to such vile actions by signing the petition here: chn.ge/Yl8uoY It would also be helpful if you share this with the hashtag #JusticeforAaron on Facebook, Twitter, and other Social Media sites. Thanks everyone!

IMO you're spending way too much on the motherboard and RAM. 8GB of DDR3-1600 will work just fine for gaming and editing. Here is what I suggest: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor ($307.15 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI Z97-G55 SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($116.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($74.70 @ Newegg) Storage: Crucial M550 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($94.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ NCIX US) Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 4GB Dual-X Video Card ($203.98 @ Newegg) Case: Rosewill THOR V2 ATX Full Tower Case ($99.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair RM 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.99 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer ($13.50 @ Newegg) Sound Card: Creative Labs Z PCIe 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card ($82.99 @ Newegg) Total: $1184.25 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

You can use the 400R if you like, And I put the 16GB because you're also wanting to do 2d/3d data processing, and the extra memory would help with that.

Actually 1,500 Euro is more equal to $2,000. I will go ahead and use the $2000 USD budget and then convert it when coming up with a build list.Oh, and for future reference, you can use xe.com to calculate exchange rates. Also, Intel CPUs have Hyper threading, which doubles the transfer rate of information sent to and from the CPU, technically giving it twice as many cores without it having more cores. I made two...one with an Intel and one with AMD. I don't know why you don't like AMD, they're a great budget processor and are comparable to Intel in many aspects. And since they are budget friendly, you can get so much more out of your system because you can spend more on higher quality components. For example: Intel: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($182.98 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($49.99 @ Mwave) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($69.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($55.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($52.91 @ OutletPC) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked Video Card ($129.50 @ Newegg) Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($44.99 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer ($14.98 @ OutletPC) Total: $671.29 (494 Euro) Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Or AMD: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor ($89.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88M EXTREME4+ Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($78.66 @ Newegg) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($74.99 @ Micro Center) Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($55.98 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($52.91 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 270X 2GB DirectCU II Video Card ($170.00 @ Newegg) Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($54.99 @ Micro Center) Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer ($17.99 @ Newegg) Total: $654.48 (481.31 Euro) Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

What is the most overpriced used tech deal you have ever seen?
jtrier1 replied to Chuck Norris's topic in General Discussion
I remember when the first Core i7's came out and was over $1000. This was a long time ago, so I don't remember what series it was, I just remember how expensive it was. But most recently, I see CyberPower and Alienware Pre-built systems for $3000 or so, when you can build a similar PC for less than $2000. -

Made a couple of tweaks to your list. I added a 1TB Hard Drive because I didn't see one on your original list and didn't know if you already had one. Anyway, this list has a better CPU, bigger case, and better motherboard. AND its well under budget so you're free to make any extra changes or additions. Raspberry Pi isn't as powerful as a full desktop. You can play some games on it, but you can do the same with a smart phone. Honestly, I think the Raspberry Pi mini PC is geared towards the programming enthusiasts who do crazy shit with them. For Example: http://youtu.be/r-kEtQvaqwI
