  1. Thanks so much for all the feedback. I was unsure of the motherboard, thanks for the cheaper alternative. I've always had NVIDIA cards in my laptops and hadn't given the 390 enough thought.
  2. Thanks so much for the input! The PSU is actually the one component I have no choice in, as I already own it. A gift from a friend who upgraded. Is the implication of the HDD comment implying that this particular hard drive has issues or reliability concerns? Could you provide an elaboration or alternative? I am looking for the ~4TB storage for my large media collection. I'll change up the cooler. Thanks again!
  3. Hey folks. Picking parts for my first gaming build. Just looking for any thoughts on how to improve it and if there are any compatibility issues I missed. The goal is a ~$1500 CAD tower. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/HgX9qs Thank you so much for any insight or tips you might have. - Mithridates
  4. Thank you all so much for your great input! I can't beleive how quickly everyone responded.Thank you Megazero and TheNinjaNextDor for the alternative builds, I'm going to look into those components thoughrouly and respond regarding them afterwards. You all make a great point regarding the SSD, I had might as well get it first, I too have wasted a day moving files, formating drives, ext, that could have been avoided with better planning. Regarding Megazero's first question, I live close to Toronto Ontario, I have yet to choose peripherals, though I have some older keyboards, mice, monitors, ext that will do for now. I am using windows 8.1 which I also already have. The reason I chose a liquid cooling solution, k-series CPU, ext, was because I thought I might be overclocking it, and wanted the option. The higher wattage PSU was selected in case I wanted to expand more in the future, though it still might be a little much.
  5. Hello all, So I find myself preparing to fully assemble a Gaming PC for the first time. I am decently versed in electronics (Electronics Engineering Technician), but I haven't owned a PC in a few years and haven't build a gaming rig before. I believe I am happy with all my choices but as I am new to this I wanted to ask if anyone can see compatibility issues, better choices to be made, muck-ups on my part, ext.. My budget is around $1,200, fyi. Thanks for any comments you might leave, your help is immensely appreciated!
