  1. Don't really want curved because I do a lot of CAD and stuff. Also it'd be a joint bday-xmas gift so waiting a bit longer to add an extra 80 quid doesn't have the same feeling.
  2. Thinking of getting a new monitor for christmas and I am not sure of what to for. Ideally looking at IPS or VA purely for the colours. I'm thinking of 144Hz for CS:GO but 1440p would be good for literally any other game & being able to multitask. Max budget would be £180-£200, my mind is currently on these so i'm sorta asking on ppls opinions if you know of any major flaws etc. - 1080p 144Hz - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/G9LwrH/viewsonic-xg2405-238-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-xg2405 https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/tpvbt6/aoc-g2590fx-245-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-g2590fx https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/gjqBD3/aoc-27g2ubk-270-1920x1080-144-hz-monitor-27g2ubk - 1440p, literally just one monitor - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/HMPzK8/aoc-q2781pq-270-2560x1440-60hz-monitor-q2781pq
  3. So windows explorer (desktop and taskbar included) has been acting up recently. Sometimes I can't click any desktop icons. Often if I try to browse any files (like just open up the recycle bin) explorer.exe stops responding and sometimes ends up crashing. Other times i'll copy a file and have to refresh to see it. Often it will take a few restart attempts to fix it or it will stop responding for a while and then be ok from then on. Is this just a case of reinstall windows?
  4. As the title says. Open word, go to open a file using 'browse' and it shows this: Solidworks and installers just crash instead However if I go to browse my stuff through the file explorer it works perfectly fine.
  5. No bloatware lmao, I DDU'd when I changed from a 1050ti to this card. There is no BIOS or chipset update afaik, you can see all the specs on my signature.
  6. Be Quiet! Pure Power 11 600W. Should be enough, plus the GPU doesn't go above like 130W in iRacing, and i've played doom at 4k which pings it to like 100% utilisation for like two hours straight with no issue
  7. Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 Gigabyte 5700xt Gaming OC 16Gig of Ram The Crash: Its happened twice now in about a week and a half. First time I was playing Assetto Corsa Multiplayer, game freezes and the sound does a bit of a stutter and then would return for like a sec. After like 3 or so seconds the screen goes black, and after a bit it shows what looked like static in an old TV for a second and then back to a black screen. This time around I was playing iRacing (1.2 hours into a 24hr race) and a similar thing happened. In this second crash the GPU was reaching like 70 degC at most. To shut the PC down I have to hold the power button and it restarts and boots immediately with no issue. Event viewer doesn't really have anything of importance showing up under system at the time of the crash
  8. I mean for the gigabyte gaming OC which is regarded as one of the better models its a £5 difference
  9. Yea the max i'd go any time soon is 1440p 144Hz for games like CS but I don't see myself having money for a monitor that can show that. Streaming wise it will literally be some 24 hour races that I do and it doesn't have to be perfect. Thats too long to bother waiting for Even then a 5700xt should be able to handle most games at 1080p 60 fps and ultra/high settings right?
  10. Budget is around £400, don't want to stretch it too much because I had to overpay a little for my power supply because they all seem to be in short demand. Current build is a ryzen 5 3600, 16 gb Ram and 1050ti (Literally upgraded CPU not even a week ago). I'm currently trying to decide between a 5700xt and the 2060/2070/2070 Super lineup. I do stream occasionally but not enough to the point where NVENC is required and software encoding shouldn't destroy my performance. The 5700xt's are on average more than £50 cheaper than the 2070's and as far as I know in terms of performance they are about the same. My main question is if there is anything to be released before cyberpunk comes out that would potentially be better than either of these cards at my price point, aswell as get peoples input on what you think is best.
  11. I think i'd rather go for the tomahawk max then since its been proven to work and its probably better than the low end b550 boards i'd be able to afford
  12. Since the B550 boards are quite pricey and my budget is around £120 for a motherboard, I am trying to figure out what the best course of action is. I've already purchased a ryzen 5 3600 and with the high price of the B550 boards it would make sense to go for a better B450 board instead like a tomahawk MAX
  13. Guess i'll go for a Pure power 11 then, the S340 has plenty of space to store unused cables so its not a big issue that it isn't semi modular
  14. https://www.cclonline.com/product/297627/CORE-GC-650/Power-Supplies/Seasonic-Core-GC-650W-80-PLUS-Gold-Certified-ATX-Power-Supply-Unit/PSU1720/?siteID=8BacdVP0GFs-EdGHJZOi4OijOvn5seoYnA I could get this which is still reasonably priced, seems like its in stock
  15. Its a bit of a joke, they have a code for next day delivery but delivery is unavailable lol. And straight from corsair the prices are spiked up by quite a bit lmao
  16. Hm i'll see if I can get them from the currys pc world near me, issue is i'm in effing wales EDIT: Not available in any of the shops near me since we're still in lockdown
  17. Currently using an EVGA 500B thats 5 years old, my pc has had a GPU die and a gpu with power doesn't work on the 16x slot. (Specs on the signature). My gpu at the moment is a 1050ti, I will be upgrading to a ryzen 5 3600 and to 16 gigs of ram because I will need the computational power for my dissertation. At the same time I'd also like to give my power supply an upgrade, atm I am looking at the following two units (UK) https://www.scan.co.uk/products/500w-seasonic-core-gold-gm-500-80plus-gold-single-rail-41a-120mm-fan-atx-psu https://www.scan.co.uk/products/500w-be-quiet!-pure-power-11-cm-semi-modular-80plus-gold-sli-crossfire-dual-rail-40a-120mm-fan-atx-p?utm_source=pc part picker&utm_medium=referral The issue I am having is that in the 500-600W 80+gold range of PSU's very little is in stock so these are basically the only two I've found.
  18. 4690K uses ddr3 so the ram is useless for this build I'll probably go for a B450 board, which boards are decent for this? Preferably something that doesn't require a CPU to flash the bios incase it comes with outdated bios, (knowing my luck this will happen) Atm with the work load I will be having i'd rather have shittier FPS in games but be able to run CAD smoothly and CFD calculations faster, uni computers have 6000 series i5's iirc and no GPU's. GPU i'll upgrade at some point in the future, no idea when though. I don't care about FPS in modern games too much, I used to play planetside 2 in 2013-2014 at like 30 fps or below.
  19. Budget (including currency): £400 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CS, Valorant, hopefully cyberpunk and a bunch of other games, also CAD and CFD. Other details My current PC should be in my signature, but in shor its a 4690k with a MSI Z97 PC mate mobo thats kinda broken, 8gig of ram and a 1050ti I'm going to start working on a dissertation that involves CFD and CAD so i'd like to improve my pc in those areas to get some faster calculation times. I've been thinking of going for a CPU upgrade and getting a new PSU while so I can get a new GPU in the future. ATM of thinking of going for the following, I know its over my budget but I could possibly get it lower by going for a B450M board. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor (£154.99 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 GAMING X ATX AM4 Motherboard (£159.99 @ CCL Computers) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£55.00 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Silverstone Essential 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply (£71.50 @ Amazon UK) Total: £441.48 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-06-05 15:39 BST+0100 EDIT: Forgot to mention I have a Dark Rock 3 so i'd just need to
  20. Fair enough, thanks. Guess i'll do some more saving up and hold out till December
  21. Fair enough then. So for a first upgrade, since I forgot to mention I've got like a max of £430, what would make most sense to go for? new CPU setup, or get a new GPU?
  22. If I go for a B450 then I lose the potential upgradeability that I would've from X570 no? I guess if I do go for B450 i could then upgrade my PSU aswell
  23. Current rig: i5-4690K (Stock speeds, could overclock, but then I'm not sure the PSU would like it, what are your recommendations?) MSI-Z97 PC MATE (potentially faulty, where gpu's with external power requirements don't work on the 16x gen 3 pcie slot) 8 GB of ram (Corsair LP 1600MHz) EVGA 500B GTX 1050ti There is lack in performance, especially with new titles, and also I play a fair amount of ARMA 3 so getting some more fps there would be nice. If I'd go for a CPU upgrade i'll most likely get this combo, mainly since the X570 will allow for some future proofing PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor (£188.97 @ CCL Computers) Motherboard: *MSI X570-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard (£163.97 @ Box Limited) Memory: *Kingston HyperX Predator 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£84.27 @ Amazon UK) Total: £437.21 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available *Lowest price parts chosen from parametric criteria Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-08-19 00:35 BST+0100 For GPU potentially an RTX 2060 Super or a 2070, haven't read up on how AMD gpu's are holding up so recommendations on that side aswell would be nice
  24. Yeap, its running a single 8GB stick, guess when I have the chance i'll put another stick of ram in there.
  25. I've already done that, you can see that it wasn't boosting on uprof aswell.
