  1. I definitely won't be doing anything like that. I seen how little differences it makes and I was thinking it wouldn't make to much of a difference till I seen the next page about multi GPUs and there was up to 14% differences having faster speeds. I think this has solved it for me and I'll go a higher speed. I'm planning on going SLI so this was enough info for me. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7364/memory-scaling-on-haswell/8 Thanks for the help everyone, it's very much appreciated.
  2. So I'm building a new gaming rig. I'm already decided on going G.Skill Trident X, they match my build and I've got Ripjaw X 2133mhz CL9 in my current PC and have never had issues with these or previous sticks. I'm torn on whether to go a higher mhz or a lower CL. The computer won't be used for anything other then gaming. I've heard higher mhz can cause issues with overclocking. I think that higher mhz is better for compressing, transferring and editing and lower CL is better for gaming. Will a lower CL make much of a difference in response times? At one end of the scale is 1600mhz CL7 1.5v and the highest I'd be willing to go is the 2400mhz CL10 1.65v. Anyone have anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
  3. I have sent days trying different setups and it didn't seem to matter what I did to the voltage in CPUZ it never changed and it would BSOD very quickly so I just left it where it was running fine. I'm running a Coolermaster Hyper T4 with Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste. The temp that I got on that day was the middle of summer and a mid 30c day with no aircon.
  4. I have but as much as I'm after performance I want it to look amazing as it'll be the centerpiece of my desk and not much tops the look of two or more cards in a water loop. Also I've had some issues with CrossfireX lately and it has turned me off going AMD until they are as reliable as SLI.
  5. I wanna hit 4.8 and above I'll be a little disappointed if I don't. Thanks I watch a few of his videos but I haven't got around to watching this yet. I'll watch while I'm waiting for the WAN show. I've never been interested in LGA2011 as all I do is game and I don't see the point in them if I'll never use it for what it was made for. My i5 is a decent chip even temps across all cores I've just been let down by my mobo and was only able to get it stable at 4.2ghz on standard voltage going higher with either became very unstable. Either way I was happy for 4.2ghz at 1.25v on air, my CPUZ said I was running at 1.164v and I don't have a way to double check at the moment but the mobo setting where set at 1.25 and it was stable.
  6. So I've just landed an awesome job and the first thing I'm gonna do is spend big on an all out gaming PC that is 4k ready with enough VRAM for modding. Give me your thoughts or suggestions. Not interested in waiting for DDR4, X99 or 800 series GTX so don't bother with that please. The specs I'm thinking are as follows. Everything that can be will be overclocked. i7 4790k - hoping for high 4s or 5ghz Gigabyte Z97X Gaming G1 EVGA 780 Superclocked 6GB in two ways SLI then most likely three way later on. G.Skills Trident X either 2400mhz CL10 or there is 1600mhz CL7 Samsung EVO 840 250GB, two in raid 0 - Owned WD Black 4TB - Owned Corsair AX1200i Corsair Carbide 540 Air Black - Owned Koolance 380i CPU block Koolance 780 blocks Swiftech MCP35X pump Alphacool ST30 in a 360 and a 240. NZXT sleeved wiring kit - Owned Bitfenix red LED lighting strips. DEMCiflex dust filter kit - Owned Already have a 4670k that will be a spare in case something goes wrong overclocking.
  7. Project Cars looks AMAZING! I can not wait for this to come out and from the watching the trailer it has my two favourite tracks ever Mt. Panorama and Nordschleife. Buying this ASAP!
  8. Assetto Corsa is 50% off on Steam today and tomorrow. I personally haven't got the game yet, from what I've seen it looks amazing. It's normally price of $40US is a bit steep for an Early Access game but $20 is enough of an incentive for me to get it.
  9. Sorry I never replied to this as I never got notifications and I totally forgot about this post. Thanks for the help and photo. I ended up using a different case as I found the Corsair Carbide 540 Air met my needs perfectly and was available without posting from interstate or overseas at the time. It looks as if it would have been not much trouble to remove it either and I may have waiting but my new case makes my water loop much easier to do super clean
  10. This is the same decision I face at the moment although I'm going 2 and most likely 3 way SLI on a water cooled system and OC it as much as possible. I'm more tempted buy the EVGA SC 6GB 780 than the Ti as it stands. While I don't do content creation, my reasons being I do play a lot of games and while I like running thinks on ultra I also like to mod the hell out of them and 3GB seems like way to small of an amount when playing on 1440p and above. Also another reason I'm leaning this way is I can almost buy three 780s for the price of two Ti. Price hasn't been any real factor in my build up until this point, it's the fact that in most situations three 780s will out preform two Ti and it's hard too beat the look of multi SLI with water especially when the cards look the same. Not sure if this helps in any way but this has been something that has been a lot of thinking to come to my decision.
  11. I'm thinking of buying a Corsair 450D but the only thing that I'd like to change is removing the 5.25" flex bay housing, to make room for a large water reservoir. Does anyone have one of these cases and know if it's possible or even be able to upload some photos of the joins, rivets or anything else that could help? I'm willing to drill out rivets and cut to a lesser extent depending on the amount of work involved. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
