  1. Well that explains why I can't find a "fix" in the internet. Guess I'll try out linux. Thanks for your effort. and best of luck to your carrer.
  2. Hello dear readers, I am new here. I posted this on Off-Topic because this question is actually "Business related" sort of. So if you can, please bear with me. Alright, with that disclaimer out of the way, I'll start with another disclaimer;. This post is long. This post contains a LOT of context and ideas that may sound interesting at best and "predatory" at worst to your average "western" reader. All good? alright. let's dive in. So, here in the Philippines (and probably some south-east asian countries), we have these "PCs" called "Piso-Nets". [Piso-net] Piso comes from "Piso" the lowest value of coin here in the Philippines. (valued at 0.0019USD) and the "net" part comes from the fact that your typical Filippino household usually can't afford to get hooked up with a good internet connection. for context, the monthly cost of a decent internet connection is roughly the same as your monthly budget for decent food. So your below average "Juan" earns about 200USD a month. (yes. the target of this "service" for a lack of a better word, is the below average of the populace.) So Juan has two options; 1. He could buy a dirt cheap Prepaid sim card (costs <1USD). plop it on his relatively expensive local knock-off phone running Android 5 (at best. its usually 4.2 or 4.4.). and then he would go to his neighbor who happens to sell prepaid plans and pay them 1USD for a plan. Now he successfully bought a plan with a WHOPPING 1GB of data on BLAZING FAST, STATE OF THE ART 4G cellular data connection valid for 1 day. (as if it would last 3 hours of streaming.) but if he felt underwhelmed, he can also buy the 2USD option. Same shtick, but now with wait for it.. 3GB of data valid for 3 days. (which now that i think about it, is actually reasonable.) or or... 2.He could reach under the couch for coins (given that he owns one) or just exchange his 1USD for coins to the proprietor of the "shop". And drop the coins as he wishes. The rate is commonly 6minutes for 1 Peso. and 1USD is roughly about 50 pesos. So in our case Juan would have 6minutes x 50pesos(1USD) = 6Hours of full control of a PC hooked up with fiber internet with speeds of 100-300mbps over cat5e. And the best part is, you can stop whenever you're done (given you didn't drop all the coins in one go.). Now. you might be asking; What the F-? okay, calm down. The reason I'm telling you all this is not because I want you to hire me to build one of these. (but I do build them and if you need a builder, hit me up.) No, the reason I'm telling you all of this is because you need to understand how this "machines" work to properly understand how annoying this monitor issue is. Ok, now with that out f the way, more talking. Yey! Piso-nets are Public PCs they usually come with windows with installed typical software like chrome, office, steam, dota 2, csgo, roblox, and the secret sauce; DeepFreeze. DeepFreeze "preserves" the state your PC is in. So the IT person would install all the needed software and clear their data so the whole PC is a "blank canvas" and then DeepFreeze kicks in and saves the state and baddabing baddaboom! anyone can use the pc, login their accounts work on their homeworks, job applications, and school projects. and then when you are halfway done, some sweaty street kid would promptly press the restart button and the pc restarts with all your progress gone. now you are left with a blank pc, a hole in your heart and a great burning passion of trottling that kid's neck. Im sorry, I got carried away. So that's the gist of DeepFreeze, U setup the pc. Freeze it. then any changes afterward will get discarded when the machine powers off or restart. ( I swear this post is not sponsored by Faronics.) So great, anyone can use the pc and no data saved. (unless you didn't restart the pc before you leave. (like a dum dum.)) Now you might be asking; Where is the damn monitor issue? and why are you so butthurt about it? Well you see, in a normal Pisonet setup, you have a coin slot, a "controller board", and a "timer". (digital timer? I dont know how to call it. there's a picture below just look at it.) The coin slot would say to the controller board; "hey, this bloke dropped a sweaty coin worth this ammount of minutes. tell the timer to display that minutes and power up his monitor.". And then when the timer hits 59s remaining the timer would say to the controller board; "hey, this guy has less than a minute left. Ring your buzzer thinggy so he would know he's almost up. Also ring it loud enough to make the guy beside him to look at his timer. And if he didn't drop coins before i hit zero cut his monitor's power. That would show 'em. Poor coin slot is still puking over that sweaty coin earlier." a typical Pisonet setup. ( Not mine. Too narrow for my liking. ) So, that is a normal setup. But as my neighbors are fond of saying, I'm not normal. No, I am big brain. *pats myself in the back* Why bother setting up 4 pcs with Kaveri/Bulldozer chips on them draining 100+ watts each from the wall if you can just chuck two e5-2650v2s and a 1060 4gb in a single machine plug 4 sets of Mouse+Keboard+Headsets+Monitors+Lan adaptors and call it a day. What could go wrong? Turns out not that much. But there is the Monitor problem ohh. spoppi. finnally, a message.. from our sponsor, Faronics. (no, just kidding.). So here's the setup;(draws 300-320 watts from the wall. basically 4 for the price of 3) 2x e2650v2 1x Gtx1060 1x 240GB sata SSD (for the Host OS) 1x 512GB nvme SSD (for the Guest OSs) 1x 480GB sata SSD (for mass storage) So here's where the problem starts. After the VMs was started, the usb and audio peripherals are allocated, and tweaking the registry of all Guest OSs to delete the shutdown button, and hours of benchmarking later; all is set. And then the figurative doodoo hits the metaphorical fan. One of the "machines" hit zero. the monitor powers off. Completely normal. nothing happened to the other 3 machines. 3 monitors still running. normal. so I dropped a coin to the correspoding coin slot of the zeroed machine. It turned on. and then it happened. After I dropped the coin, the monitor powered on. and by powering on, it got "connected" to the system and the 3 other monitors blinked for a good second. so after a lot of exposition and explanations, here is my question. "How do i stop Windows/TheGpu/TheWholeSystemUnit/TheFBI/TheCIA from "blinking/refreshing" other monitors everytime a "new" display is "plugged in"? edit: now that I think about it, maybe I should consider writing for Business Blaze.
  3. Yeah, we tried all the ports too. Its not like its not working, It just decided to kill itself after 10 mins of use. My grandpa said it could be a bad monitor psu/caps. Do you think the same? cuz like its sort of "overheating" after 10 mins. and then decides to kill itself and after some "cool-off" it works again. Could it be a bad psu? do we need to replace caps or change the whole board entirely? oh. also i would like to ask if i could take the psu out of my old monitor and slap it in there if needs be. ty.
  4. So my cousin got some issues with his monitor. One day while he was playing valorant on pc his screen froze, but the audio is still there and can (hence, the system is still responsive) and then the screen started going white slowly untill it goes full white. He unplugged everything and put it back on. the pc started but the monitor didn't show any display but the power led of the monitor is on, it also didn't show the traditional no signal notice. He waited for 20 mins, replugged everything again and it worked like nothing happened uuuntil the screen abruptly turned black after 10 mins of use. and then he unplugged the monitor for 5 mins and plugged it again and it worked again like nothing happened. aaaaand repeat. he changed power cables, display cables and even borrowed my Entire system. but still the problem still persists. what do you think is the problem guys?
  5. So i just installed linux mint and ran into 1 problem. It takes a solid 10+ seconds after startup until the mouse and keyboard to detect. Everything is fine. I can see the desktop but the keyboard and mouse wont work until 10+ seconds. anyone encountered this prob before?
  6. So i just installed kali yesterday and liked it. This is my first linux distro. But I have a little problem. Im not a white hat hackermann and i want to remove all penetration testing tools. How can i remove all of them (cuz I just wanna play dota and use chrome) without installing another distro? I mean everything, from 01 Information gathering to 12 Reporting. cheers!
  7. and i replaced win boot manager with grub during the installation cuz im dumb and cant make good decisions in life.
  8. I sill have win 10 installed and in the same drive as kali
  9. So i just started using kali linux this day. and i dont know what im doin. Everything is fine till i realized after i reboot that windows boot manager is gone. so i did some research and figured out how to kindaaa do it BUT this thing is blocking my way. ps: i dont mind the grub bootloader really, but my parents also use this pc so i want the windows 10 bootloader cuz its simpler. and i also wanna play valorant real bad.
  10. So i'm building ma sister a dirt basic pc from a few spares. (a8 8650, 2X 4GB ddr3 and an amd stock cooler.) and my cousin offered me a 250GB HDD for ₱300. And he also said that if i installed windows to the HDD on my main pc, and then transfer it to my sister's pc, it would'nt boot cause we dont have the same motherboard. Is he right? or he just want me to waste a shit ton of time installing windows on a 2c/4t 3.2 ghz locked chip + Usb 3.0 Installer on a Usb 2.0 only mobo?
  11. So i was just wondering if a 3.0 USB FD plugged into a 3.0 port would install windows 10 "faster" than a 2.0 one. Any ideas?
  12. ooh. and also is there any difference between ethernet and usb eternet?
