  1. The Surface 3 is a different machine entirely, I believe. The 4-5-6-7 are all the same architecture, but the older models are pretty much just tablets. I don't get anything on the screen for more than a half-second. I really mean it when I say bricked.
  2. I wish. They've walked me through the decrease volume+power button combo to boot from USB as well, and no luck.
  3. Do you think that itself could be an issue? A device that fails after not even 2 years of use? I'm not sure what the law is on that in the US
  4. Title says it all. Didn't use my Surface at all yesterday. It wasn't plugged into anything so no weird shorts or the like. (I have tried charging it since then, and my charger works.) I baby this thing and it has no damage whatsoever, only wear from where the pen attaches to the device. Have tried every forum suggestion, and have been through the arduous process that is Windows support. No way to boot from OS, recovery drive, or get any other screen that isn't a Windows logo for half a second. I'm barely out of the meager 1 year warranty so they refuse to do anything about it. Anyone know if there's anything else I can do, or at least anyone else having this issue? When Microsoft forcefully installs an update that breaks my machine I can't imagine that is even a warranty discussion, though other posts I've seen about this issue say it doesn't really matter what else I try.
