  1. I was hoping someone could recommend a good HDMI extender. I am looking to be able to hook up my computer to my 4k LG CX tv and would like to be able to run a 4k HDR signal from my basement to the tv and needing to carry the signal about 30 feet. I was hoping someone had some experience in doing this, I was told that a extender would be my best bet. I have been looking at the following product, would this be a good option or would it be a bit overkill for what my intentions are? Amazon.com: AV Access HDMI 2.0 Extender HDBaseT Extender, 4K60Hz YUV4:4:4 18Gbps Over Single Cat5e/6a/7, HDCP2.2, HDR10(8bit), Dolby Atmos & DTS:X, 230ft 1080P, 131ft 4K,Bi-Directional PoE+IR+RS232+CEC: Computers & Accessories
  2. Thank you for the suggestion, I was just checking these out and they mention having a 32 mb bios vs the Pro Carbon having a 16 MB bios. From what I understand the only difference is the appearance of the bios?
  3. Part of the reason i was pulled towards this board is it features flashback which to my underanding i should be able to update it by thumb drive. I had thought about going with a newer motherboard but the price is substantially more and i don't see much benefit other than pci 4.0 which doesn't seem necessary.
  4. I am looking for a open cooler design as reference always seems to be hotter and i don't like the idea of water near a pc ha-ha.
  5. Current Build - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hz4t9G possible upgrade - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zg2WnH
  6. I will definitely check those out as well and while wifi isn't necessary i thought it would be nice to have built in Bluetooth as well. Would you say it is worth upgrading? I also notice you list that you run a 5700 XT how has it performed for you any heat/driver issues?
  7. This is my current set up but was looking at the idea of upgrading as I am starting to notice my pc isn't able to perform on newer titles like it used to. Not sure if the cpu is necessary or not at this point as I am seeing mixed things online from people saying it runs just fine to others stating that it was holding their system back in gaming. But also have a feeling that as the next gen systems come out it will really start to fall behind especially after watching the recent gamers nexus video. i5 6600k gtx 980 16 gb ddr4 I was looking at possibly moving over to Ryzen 5 3600 ( heard the X isn't really worth it) RTX 5700 XT (haven't had a amd card in a long time but looks like it is pretty on par with a gtx 2070 super except for its a lot cheaper and missing ray tracing but heard some people have complaints about driver issues or overheating) Then was torn for motherboard was either looking at MSI B450 Pro Carbon or ASUS B450-F I was hoping to get your guys opinions, is it worth upgrading and if so what do you think about my upgrade path? Thanks,
  8. Thanks, for the input. I'm not super familiar with sound offerings and am looking for something that has a bit more punch but am kinda limited on room for a nice 5.1 or 7.1 set up. I've heard some of the 3.1 speakers in store and I don't know if it is just how they have them calibrated or what but most of them seem to sound a slight bit "tinny". But maybe that is all you get in that size range not really sure.
  9. So I have been looking for a sound bar hoping to get a better sound out of my tv/gaming set up than just regular tv speakers and was wondering how good a sound bar would be as I have never actually purchased one before. This is the one I have been looking at but it appears that it is very similar to This One which I have read some people complain about the sound out put but wasn't sure if people are just expecting a 3.1 system to sound like a 5.1 set up or what their expectations are. I noticed that the HW-R650 supposedly can be paired with this to add even more speakers. What do you guys think or is there another product that would provide better performance without breaking the bank? Thanks,
  10. I tried assembling the pc outside of the case and still get the same error, double checked the fan it is indeed plugged in, is there a trick to mounting the heat sync? I just snugged it up in the order that was numbered on each corner going across from one side to the other in the "X" pattern.
  11. So I was trying to repair a old HP Pavilion DV6 7029wm for a family member and it was experiencing some heating issues. So I took it apart and noticed the thermal paste was dried up so I replaced the thermal paste now for some reason the cpu fan will spin up and the F12 Wifi light lights up orange and the caps lock will flash in 1second intervals. I found HP code system which seems to indicate it would be the CPU, while it worked fine before it doesn't want to start now. I wouldn't think that would have messed up the CPU but not sure where else to look. I read online someone mentioned to overheat it and it would come back on. Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue?
  12. It appears that the M.2 would be quite a bit faster than the 840 evo right?
  13. My laptop does not have a M.2 that I am aware of. My only other option would be to buy a M.2 for one of my other systems to replace my samsung 840 evo that is currently installed but don't know if a cheaper m.2 has really gotten much better than that or not.
  14. I'm looking for a 500gb ssd to upgrade an old laptop and I'm not really worried about speed or anything as anything would be leaps and bounds better than the old 5400rpm drive that is currently failing. looking for something on the budget end any recommendations? This Silicon Power is probably the cheapest one I have found with a fair amount of good reviews. Crucial MX 500 is another one I'm looking at even though it is a bit more expensive.
