  1. I can always ask fellow server engineers for couple E5 2687 ... that is not a problem. The issue still stands... how do I get Massive GPU to work with server chassis, without appropriate GPU power supplies. Statement like "Id just get a atx psu for the gpu, then a relay to turn it on when the rest of the system turns it on." not really helpful since it is same as "just have separate PSU" Need for actual design and recommendations with parts.
  2. I'm hearing that unless I go with Ryzen or 10th gen Intel I can't use 3090 ??? Even dual Intel Xeon Silver 4116 2.1G, 12C/24T, 9.6GT/s , 16.5M Cache, Turbo, HT (85W) is not going to be enough?
  3. Ok, point taken, (I might have to get better CPUs that is not a problem, next wave of decommissioned systems is around the corner) still the question stands: how do I get to power 3090 outside the chassis? Even my PE’s 740s don’t have connections to 700w
  4. Yeah, I have access to 8 core CPU's from the other R630's so will swap it for sure (i think 2640 will be good, plus it does HT so 16 crores per socket.) still though.. need somehow rig independent PSU to graphic card (and I'm keeping 3090 ... just because I can and is it a monster size wise.) will be running Win10 or Server 19 .. no matter really. Thank you for all help
  5. Budget (including currency): $600 - for PDU solution Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming AAA games and Adobe Premier. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently have: 2 x E5-2603 CPU's, with 512 GB Ram, 8 x 2.7 TB SSD in Raid 10 (H730P - controller card ), redundant PSU 495W - all this is in server chassis and (RTX 3090 - in the box) Issue: The current PDU connection can supply only 85W to GPU. Need to find alternative to power GPU with external PSU Thermaltake TT Premium PCI-E x16 3.0 Black Extender Riser Cable 600mm - will be used to move card to custom cooled enclosure.(since 1U chassis barely have space for even single U Quadro card) Any solutions ? Recommendations? Ideas ?
