  1. To much thermal paste or to little or the fan not properly fasten? Well my idea what might be the problem
  2. If they really do need it, slap a new cpu in it s small ssd, 64 gig would suffice and 2 gig of ram and it will run a couple of years more. But it all depends on whos paying, if it were me I would just turn this pc into a router, but if they really cant part from the pc that is what I would do!
  3. Try a clean install with your upgrade key, worked for me with 2 computers, just a tip!
  4. Ah sorry missed that totally! But did you check if you had the 64k CFE and not the 32K one?
  5. Using the x79 Sabertooth board myself and I love it :D
  6. If you dont want hibernation, just turn it off, usually help with odd problems when booting. open a command prompt in admin mode and typ powercfg /h off and you will save some space on C: also :) Hope you find a solution /D-tail
  7. Quick search on google revealed that you need to upgrade the CFE for DD-WRT to be installed and not run out of ram so fast. I think in my minds its bricked, its a really risky thing todo if you do not read up on things before you attempt any DD-wrt installation http://charleswilkinson.co.uk/2012/12/22/dd-wrt-on-the-asus-rt-n66u-with-64k-cfe/ http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=8259 /D-rtail
  8. TBH it could be any factor, it could be the motherboard which took the hit. Or the GPU or the CPU its just hard to tell whats wrong. Its all down to troubleshooting. If it were me and I had more spareparts I would start with the motherboard and go on from there. Sorry to hear about the mishap though! /D-tail
  9. Got Zyxel powerlines at home and its somewhat good, it all depends on your house wireing. If your house got old wires then it might just give you awful speed. Why not just get a wifi AP and extend your signal from your router? If I compare my wifi setup with my last powerline setup the latency was always better on the powerline, but the speed of the transfere was slightly higher on the wifi, but it all dependes how much interference was is the air at the time. It all depends on what your gonna do, lots of filetransfer I recommend doing a network cable from the router(its always the best if its an option). Gaming and surfing I would say powerline because of the more constant latencies. Linus got a good movie showing you powerline VS wifi check it out. best regards /D-tail
  10. Had a bad xp with 2 swifttech rads, 1x240 slim rad and a 120 slim rad. The paint was just awfully done, it flaked from just touching it more or less. Scratched easily and was full of small metalshards, I always flush my rads and components before I use them. Ended up not using them and bought 2 Phobya instead, great quality. Although I have a swifttech apogee hd and a swifttech mpc655 D5 pump and love em so I think I got unlucky with the rads.
  11. Got a Server 2012 at home with these specs: AMD Phenom 9950 BE @ 3Ghz Adaptec ASR-4805AS 256mb Raid card(in the PCIex16 slot) 6 TB in raid 1 just for the redundancy, yeah I know I can do raid 10 on this card, but I am to lazy :) 8 Gig ddr2 ram M2N68-vm motherboard Runs direct access for all of my windows 8 computers(yeah I have upgraded all of my computers :D) My own DNS server Exchange Server 2013(VMware) Active directory Fileserver Thinking about installing sharepoint DHCP and a whole bunch of other services that I need to practice for my studies // D-tail
