  1. Was this a review or sponsored video? It wasn't said up front and it seems like a sponsored video based on some of the talking points.
  2. You could try the cost for reship or another consumer focused freight consolidation service. It will probably save you some money compared to rack rates, but it will still be expensive.
  3. Gaskets suck from a manufacturing and service standpoint. They also fail at much higher rates than something like 3M 4200 (which is probably something similar to what Apple uses). Apple can encase the battery like they did on old phones, but it will be at the expense of thickness / battery life. On top of all of that, the "glue" provides shock resistance, and adheres the battery to the screen which distributes stress loads (ie stiffness, dropping). If I were guessing Apple will go with a weaker glue that can be reused / removed with a scraper combined with some sort of screws. They could also go with an enclosed battery pack with a large gasket and screws and is sold only in the EU (it would have a smaller battery). We will never know, but if I were guessing screen breakage will go up and water claims will increase.
  4. If you haven't reached out to them recently, Oracle is having a major advertising push for their cloud space to try and attract devops, sysadmins, etc. to play around with. They would be an A tier advertiser and would probably be interested in meeting a lot of your demographic.
  5. Remember there is no fair use defense in Japan, so this clip is probably runs afoul of copyright law there. Most of the rest of the world recognizes fair use (or something similar). Youtube's content-id system does not have a way to stop distribution in Japan, but does allow Japanese copywrite holders to issue takedowns.
  6. I think the CC-NC license ambiguity combined with the modifications by XKCD put Linus completely in the clear in this case. That said, having gotten interested in it, the CC-NC license is complete crap when it comes to US law and depending on the Judge will either be found to be a CC-AB or no license at all. It doesn't define or provide any definition of commercial, but helpfully there is a 136 page + 5 appendix study available at Defining_Noncommercial_fullreport.pdf to help you define what the hell it means. According to that study almost every single author and user of copyrighted works has a different working definition of CC-NC, so it is meaningless.
  7. Miners will at maximum pay $ X assuming that after expenses and resale of a used card they can make enough money to compensate them for the risk and cost of capital. If you charge X+1 miners in general will not pay that. If Nvidia sells the cards for X then there will be no room for scalpers to charge a markup and and still sell any cards -- in this situation the miners would be price setters and the scalpers price takers. Although not perfect for a variety of reasons, X can be most easily determined by looking at auction / selling prices over the last week or so. The reason that NVidia doesn't sell directly to miners is probably logistics -- they have no good method of doing so without potentially leaving themselves or their partners stuck with a massive in process inventory that is overvalued in the case of a bitcoin crash. In addition, they don't see their business as designing ASIC's for miners and would probably prefer no interferance.
  8. I would look to see if you can find the Pioneer B22 series (not the Elite) if you don't care about looks. The Polk Signature doesn't have as good of sound but much better looks -- either are about $200 / pair. Start off with two and then add a center, then rears. https://sites.google.com/view/speakerdata/preference-ratings-graphs provides Harman preference scores and spinorama data, link to reviews, etc. for a wide variety of speakers from $100+++. You can make any sub wireless for about $70-100, but for your budget I would look at either the elac 10" sub or wait until JBL has a sale on their refurbished units.
  9. HDMI actually carries a low power wire pair, so it can self power a relay. Monoprice seems to have some good options for long runs -- just remember that the cable is directional and to test it before running through walls.
