  1. How do I test to see if my ISP is doing CGNAT? Unfortunately I am only able to test while both the pc and server are connected to the home network. Although, I have a 3rd party VPN connected to my pc, so I am trying to connect outside to in. Tbh I don't have a full understanding of what protocol 47 is or GRE packets. I just know that I had to allow them to pass in my router, along with my server's firewall. I was able to do it in the server's firewall but not on the router. To the best of my understanding, opening port 1723 should also trigger protocol 47, but it did not. There is no ISP box blocking it by default, my connection comes in from the pole to my router/modem.
  2. Hey all, I'm a noob at this, sorry for dumb questions. I'm trying to connect a server to a pc using a personal vpn. I am running windows server 2019 and windows 10, and my router is a Netgear C7500. After going through a ton of information, I came to the conclusion that my router is unable to pass GRE packets, is this true? Am I out of luck with this approach? Or maybe you know a better way? Thanks for your time.
  3. Thanks for your reply, the VPNception sounds like the best solution for my use case. So I would install a VPN server, then use the other VPN on the server, effectively having two VPNs on the server?
  4. Hey everyone, I'm building a new, very basic home server. I'm planning on running Windows 10 Server 2016 with an SFTP and VPN. I can't seem to get my SFTP recognized on the open web. I believe my VPN is blocking the connection. I talked to the provider, they said outgoing connections of that nature aren't supported. I know that people will say a VPN isn't necessary with a SFTP, I want the VPN for other uses. Basically I want to be able to access the SFTP while the VPN is active. Does anyone have a work around I can use or a different VPN provider that allows for an FTP? Or maybe a whole different way to do it? Or if this is possible at all? Thanks for your time Monta
