  1. My major concern is the fact it occurs at so early 50% usage. I'd expect it from high usage but not just medium usage. It doesn't happen at all during low usage. However I did just notice it on the past couple of days, so maybe it will go away.
  2. I experience coil whine above ~50% GPU usage from my 980 Ti Strix. This is on multiple fan speeds and games. My power supply is an OCZ 1000W from a few years ago, when I built my PC, and I've read it could be causing the coil whine. I've also noticed OCZ is longer advertising their power supplies at all(?). I heard the coil whine might go away over time, but is it time for me to get a new PSU anyways or should I RMA the GPU first?
  3. I don't need to install drivers for my motherboard. Why would I install drivers for my motherboard? What practical use does having drivers for a motherboard have in a Windows environment?
  4. Tyvm. I thought that was supposed to make the boot logo fullscreen, like putting a huge picture on there, or if disabled it would be really small, so I left it on auto.
  5. I don't have any ASUS drivers installed. For some reason since I got my SSD and installed Windows it's been like this, not on my HDD. Nothing in the BIOS that I can find on it.
  6. I just got a new SSD for my custom-built desktop and installed Windows 8.1. Now the boot logo is ASUS instead of the Windows one. When Windows 8.1 was installed on my HDD it was not like this. I have an ASUS P9X79 Pro and I can't find anything about this.
  7. Just to clarify because I realised I hadn't before, this is an OEM key, but no hardware changes except the SSD. Should still be fine right?
  8. The key is for 8, but I just found this updated part in an article that says Microsoft changed something (that seemed like they wouldn't change before, lol). http://www.howtogeek.com/187525/how-to-perform-a-clean-install-of-windows-8.1-with-a-windows-8-key/ Could this work? That's what it sounds like, and I don't need answers right now because it will still be a couple of days until I get the SSD.
  9. Will I be able to enter my 8 key? This is only a new SSD, nothing else has changed.
  10. I don't want to deal with installing 8 and then going through the process of updating and installing 8.1. Is there any way I can go straight to 8.1 then install the updates without going through 8 first?
  11. I got a new SSD on it's way very soon, and I was wondering what Windows I should install, 8.1 or 10. The only reason I am really contemplating this is because I got Windows 8 (before Windows 8.1 had come out) and don't want it to be a pain to reinstall Windows 8, then have to deal with the Windows Store and wait half an hour to get 8.1. Unless anyone knows a way to download 8.1 and then put it my 8 key later. That would be great. Just to clarify, it's an OEM key.
  12. Putting a little bump here because I plan on getting whatever I choose today, so looking for final opinions.
  13. I will not just be using it for gaming. I am going to install the Windows 10 technical preview on it (and use it as my boot drive, and install normal programs and stuff, all the usual), then when the full version comes install that. I am only going to install Battlefield games on it probably, just because it has really big maps and stuff. So only around 150gb will be used by that, maximum. If there isn't much real-world difference I will probably get the Intel one.
  14. I had to post the first topic fast so I left out some information (has since been updated). The reason I want it so big is so I can also install Battlefield on it for faster loading. Most other games I will leave on my hard drive (almost all if not all). I am mostly looking for speed but if there isn't much of a real world test difference I might just go for Intel because of the reliability. All are currently on sale at Newegg.
