  1. For the past 2 - 3 months, I've had a constant issue with Client Server Runtime Process, and potentially Desktop Window Manager. While I understand DWM.exe is what is used to draw windows on the screen, there seems to be something else happening with CSRSS.exe. One day randomly, csrss.exe started utilizing my GPU CONSTANTLY. It would NEVER idle, even with a fresh install (different versions as well all the way down to 1703). I even used older Nvidia drivers and the issue still happens. I used process explorer to determine that csrss.exe is utilizing my GPU which is taking resources that I need to game adequately. I have a 2080 and I can't even play games at a stable 60 FPS at 1080p as it constantly fluctuates and dips below 60 FPS. This also causes massive lag in Windows and sometimes my screen blacks out and it seems like the driver has crashed, but again I've reinstalled Windows, used different drivers, and even replaced the GPU. I replaced the RAM, GPU, and PSU, and the issue is still there, nothing has fixed it. I am going to replace my processor with a new one within the next couple of months but I don't see how it could even be that. Specs- AMD Ryzen 9 3900x 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo (2 x 16GB) - Issue with XMP on or off so I know it's not ram (also ran a memtest overnight as well as OCCT test) Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 EVGA RTX 2080 XC2 Ultra EVGA 850W P2 PSU (Platinum) As you can see in the photos, my GPU never idles. It used to be around 300mhz clock and 200mhz memory when idle but now it's constantly boosted and csrss.exe is ALWAYS using the GPU, it will not relent. Again, this is not the case on other people's computers as I've built 2 for my friends recently and they do not have this issue with similar hardware. Additionally, others on different sites and forums have expressed their concern about this issue as well but there is no definitive fix. I've disabled background apps, telemetry, and uninstalled the xbox gamebar/services through powershell and yet the issue persists. To be clear, this is an issue because my computer lags. Sometimes not until I open a game, but then it will start to lag uncontrollably until I restart and csrss.exe uses too much of my GPU for my computer to even be usable. Please someone help, I cannot use my computer as it is constantly lagging during normal use. Even 1080p Youtube videos lag at times.
  2. Hoping for some fresh ideas. I've replaced the RAM, GPU and PSU. I've ran Memtest and OCCT and installed older Windows versions as well as older Nvidia GPUs and it STILL persists. What the actual hell?
  3. I've been having graphical issues for the past week - 2 weeks. I think it's a Windows update. First I thought it was my GPU, replaced that. Then I thought it was the PSU, replaced that. Then I tried reinstalling Windows and I'm still having the problem. I'm a bit too lazy to try right now after all my attempts but I'm going to try a month old version of Windows and see if anything changes. If not, I'll try an older Nvidia driver as well. In task manager when you move windows around, do you see Desktop Window Manager or Client Server Runtime Process using a lot of GPU?
  4. I have used air and water coolers on many different builds and personally haven't had an issue with either (leaks or sag). The noctua nh-d15 I'm using now isn't sagging at all and it's been about 4 months like this. I think the way it's mounted allows the pressure to be spread out. I've never seen someones board cracking or breaking from sag (if there ever was any). The Dark Rock Pro 4 and Noctua NH-D15 will probably perform better than any AIO but if you prefer form over function, go for an AIO.
  5. Hey, can you check your Task Manager during gaming and see if Client Server Runtime Process is using any GPU. That sounds like the problem I'm having and I've noticed that in the past 2 weeks maybe it started eating up my GPU resources and my screen keeps blacking out and coming back like a driver crash at random times when my GPU is accessed by the system.
  6. That makes sense, the only issue is that it was causing 100% GPU usage whenever Windows accessed my GPU for graphical tasks (gaming, benchmark, etc). It randomly stopped, but GPU still ramping which makes me think it might partially be to blame (or it's just csrss.exe at this point). I appreciate the information though, I wasn't exactly sure what it was. Even at idle my GPU is ramping up. I have nothing open at all and my GPU is at 1350 Mhz and 7000 Mhz for the RAM, usually at idle it's like...350-500 Mhz and 700 Mhz, it never used to just stay in constant use. It's a pain because I spent a lot of time trying to make sure my PC was silent when I worked (just in Chrome) but the GPU fan is just ON nonstop because of these processes (or at least Client Server Runtime Process).
  7. Maybe a week ago, I don't exactly recall when it started, but my computer started lagging, I started seeing weird artifacts (black boxes behind notifications that would take a while to go away, black border around tabs when highlighted) and my screen would black out and monitor would disconnect (like a GPU driver crash/update). Eventually I realized it was Desktop Window Manager and Client Server Runtime Process) just using 100% GPU combined once I used anything on my computer that requires GPU. Eventually it got so bad I decided to do a clean install, updated everything before installing software (BIOS, Chipset, GPU) and it was still having this issue. At some point in the night the lag just randomly stopped BUT these two processes are still CONSTANTLY using my GPU (GPU 1 - 3D) and my fan keeps ramping up. I've attached all the info I believe is relevant but please let me know if there's more I can share. Windows 10 1904 Ryzen 9 3900X (Stock) 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RAM (XMP but issue occurs on stock) EVGA 2080Ti FTW 3 Ultra (Stock) Gigabyte Auros X570 Master 1000W Platinum+ Corsair PSU. I've tried everything at this point short of replacing hardware but I can't imagine what HW issue I have that is causing this. I've already reduced the priority of the processes to "Normal" btw and that didn't change anything. I'd love for my GPU fan to stop ramping up and making noise while working on Chrome doing nothing intensive at all. Just to clarify, my GPU is ALWAYS in use, it won't idle at all. Whether it's the two processes or something else I can't see but it just won't stop. This fan ramping up is such a damn annoyance too. EDIT: Attached a photo of my GPU usage from EVGA Precision X1 - GPU sitting at around 20% use, but I'm doing literally nothing and all I have open is Chrome windows (not even YT) Any help at all would be appreciated.
