  1. afaik there is a coax line that i believe runs downstairs and upstairs into my room. theres a wall jack or a coax line atleast, and we do use cable internet so yes im assuming there would be coax. the house was built in 1998.
  2. As the title states, i cannot use an Ethernet cable plugged in directly to my modem. I live with my parents current and my router is downstairs, i cant tape a wire downstairs because of doors and my parents just telling me no or that'll look ugly. We have Comcast (terrible) and use first generation "xfi pods" so both me and my brother can use ethernet cables. Obviously its not a wired connection, its just a wifi signal being repeated into a wired connection. they are limited and only give around 250 mbs at best. Recently they've been causing me a good headache. I don't care that my download speed is only 250 when i know i can get more. What i care about is consistency. I have a weird little issue in my brain where i can notice if im lagging or not, i can the difference between 25 ms ping and 50 ms ping. Anyways, packet lose in games has been bugging me for a little while now and i cant really do anything about it. The xfi pods are so bad it will be 3am without anyone else awake and i will have packet loss and ping spikes for no reason. We have a comcast tech come over soon to fix our service in general being shotty, but i doubt itll fix my issue. So, are there any extenders or power line adapters that have a good reputation for actually being stable? Or anything else besides those? All i want is a consistent speed that wont make me wanna pull my hair out.
  3. Hello, I recently got a RX 6600 and i've notice some weird issues with firefox. Sometimes youtube videos will lag and scrolling will slow to a crawl, and sometimes when i open a new tab i see artifacts. This is even more obvious when using sites like Twitter because hovering over certain elements will pop something up, but instead of coming up normally it'll stutter or flicker. Games and other things seem to work fine, any ideas?
  4. Don't know why I didn't do this first off. DDU worked. Thanks for the reminder.
  5. Everything looks ok besides the processor, you should try and buy a CPU with an unlocked multiplier. if you're buying a water cooler you might as well put it to good use. Could also chuck in some extra storage if need be.
  6. Hi, over the pass few days I've been noticing a lot more issues with my PC. Whenever i open the game Rust my GPU drivers crash around 3-5 times. This doesn't happen with any other game. And my mouse cursor has been flickering from normal, to "Working in Background". I've updated my GPU drivers to the latest version available and I've already done a virus scan. My GPU is around 2.5 years old, ive overclocked it a little and it runs stock now, and its always around 40-60 degrees. Is my windows install just dying?
  7. Oh boy, i sure do love when companies do that.
  8. Considering their both the same besides on being glass and one being mesh, it honestly depends on what you want. Want better airflow? go with the air mini, you like glass? go with the non airflow one. Since i like airflow i would go for the airflow one.
  9. If it was me, id buy another stick of ram then start looking for a nice 144hz monitor.
  10. Yeah, on 2nd thought thats probably what im gonna do. My mom listens to me whenever it comes to computer stuff(im basically the in house geek) but i feel like she might trip up this year considering how awful everything is. Gonna be getting a Ryzen 5600x, new cpu cooler, new faster 3600mhz ram, new psu, new 1tb nvme ssd(im a storage freak) and a new keyboard.
  11. Hello, christmas is coming up and im going to probably have a budget of around 700-900 dollars this year. Im wondering if theres any gpu that kind of stays in stock. The issue is, im not ordering it lol, its cringe but my mom does all the christmas shopping. And if the day she decides to buy everything the gpu that i told her to get isnt in stock or is way over priced, she wont buy it. Im currently running an RX 580 and it doesnt really meet my standards anymore, and for this year i REALLY wanted a gpu upgrade. So i guess im in a hard place, do i spend say, 700 dollars on a RTX 3060? Or do i upgrade the rest of my system and stick with an RX 580 until the prices go down in probably a decade. I dont care if its a pro owned ebay listing, or if its "outdated" ie 10/20 series. Aslong as its better than an RX 580 i dont care.
  12. Hello, I recently got a job and I have around 600 dollars saved up. I don't need this money as I'm 17 and don't need any money for important things. With that out of the way, I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a zotac 3060 that constantly restocks on Amazon for 520 dollars(says its sold by Amazon so I assuming I wouldn't get scammed.) I currently have an RX 580 and that's still doing me pretty well, but I also recently got a 144hz monitor and my 580 can't really keep up with it. TLDR, I have money that I don't care about spending, is buying a 500 dollar 3060 to replace my RX 580 a good idea?
  13. probably has a better cooler so more overclocking potential and it probably looks a lot cleaner so it really just depends on if you can cough up the 20 or so bucks
  14. my old motherboard had "gigabit" at 250 to 300mb/s? which doesnt make sense if theyre both gigabit
  15. I'm on windows 10 2h20 iirc and I have updates paused.
