  1. Hi all, I'll try to keep this as brief as I can. With the recent price-reductions for the i9 9900K ($530 CAD) and i7 9700K ($430 CAD), I wanted to upgrade my CPU to go along with my upcoming GPU upgrade (either Nvidia or AMD) in Fall. Since Intel changed their socket (sigh again), I'd like to pick a best CPU for 9th gen that I can use for a few years. I'd prefer not to spend more on a new motherboard so Ryzen isn't preferable. After reading dozens of related threads I am still of whether the extra $100 CAD for the 9900K over the 9700K is worth it. So my main questions are: 1. What games currently benefit from multithreading (I've heard AC: Odyssey and Battlefield 5) - From some of the youtube benchmarks I've seen the i9 9900K seems to actually perform worse than the i7 9700K, and people claim it's due to multithreading? 2. Do you think that the multithreading will help in gaming for the next 5 years? - I know this isn't a question that anyone can answer, but for people knowledgeable in the area, can you just let me know what you predict? 3. For people with the i9 9900K, how hot does it run and well does it overclock for you? - I know my Asus Prime Z390-A does not have the best VRMs and will possibly just run the i9 at Stock. The i5 is still working fantastically and I'm aware that the difference isn't really enough to warrant the extra money. However I'm not sure if it'll last that well long-term especially I'm aiming for 144 FPS instead of 60 FPS now. So I guess I'm extra weary of not just spending the extra $100 and possibly regretting it in the future. Thanks! Details for what I use my comp for: I don't do any rendering, streaming (besides on discord for friends sometimes), or any professional work that'd require heavy CPU power. I am a software developer but only run small servers and only do professional work on my work laptop. I pretty much only game and do like to play Triple-A games at max settings such as upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, COD Warzone, Battlefield 5. I run dual 1440p 144hz monitors and am aiming to at least keep that consistent 144 frame rate during gaming, in the next few years if monitors improve enough I'll possibly switch to 240hz.
