  1. I'm looking to purchase a laptop for university work (research, writing reports, excel spreadsheets etc) & general usage (media consumption) with a budget of £750. To clarify, I do not intend to use this for gaming and so I don't need a dedicated GPU. My main wants are a good display (ideally 14 inches but can live with up to 15.6 inches) & decent battery life (at least 5-6 hours). I also believe that at this price the laptop should have at least a 12th Gen Intel CPU or the AMD equivalent, 16GB of RAM & a 512GB SSD. I currently have seen an ASUS Zenbook on Amazon (linked below) which I believe meets my criteria but as this is my first time purchasing a laptop, would like some help before buying it. Any help is greatly appreciated and if any extra information is needed, I'll try to reply as quick as I can. ASUS Zenbook - Deal of the day: ASUS Laptop Zenbook 14 OLED UX3402VA 14.0" 2.8K 90Hz Touchscreen OLED Laptop (Intel i5-1340P, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 11) Intel EVO Certified https://amzn.eu/d/eLs3bjC
  2. Budget (including currency): £750 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FPS e.g. CSGO and Valorant and Racing e.g. Forza Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Looking to build a budget/mid spec gaming pc to play games at high fps at 1440p on high settings, but can't tell if now is a good time. I see prices going down especially for GPU's but am considering holding off a bit longer so they fall more, potentially by the time the 40 series cards will be availiable. Is this sensible or is now a good time to buy parts?
  3. I am looking to buy a portable wifi speaker for under £100 that is fairly loud (enough to fill a room) and has enough of a punch when it comes to bass. Any recommendations would be great and appreciated.
  4. Recently a S.M.A.R.T bad error came up for my internal HDD. I cannot get past the login screen when using said HDD. Since then I have gotten a new internal HDD and was wondering is there any way I could transfer everything from the old to new or even wipe everything from my old HDD? All replies are appreciated
  5. Budget (including currency): £1300 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Shooters and racing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am looking to build a gaming PC with a black/blue colour scheme that can play at 4k with decent FPS on high settings with the following components : - Ryzen 7 3700X - RTX 3080 - Crucial MX500 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 2TB - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2 x 8 GB - Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition - 3 x 120mm Cooler Master Sickleflow fans I do not know what case, mothorboard and PSU to get with it but would like the following: For a case, I would just like a mid ATX tower that is pure black with a tempered side panel. For a mothorboard, I am not too concerned with features and overclocking but just would like it to have RGB, 1 NVMe slot and have it match the colour scheme For a PSU, I just need it to be silent and be able to have a bit more power than required. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. How would I be able to connect it to another computer and copy the files without booting it?
  7. This is my first time posting so I apologise if I leave anything out. My HDD : Western Digital Blue 1TB Recently, my PC wasn't responding after I had left in on overnight. I tried to shut it down but couldn't. I tried loading task manager using Ctrl+Alt+Delete and other methods but nothing worked. Eventually I just shut down my PC using the power button. I took my HDD out of the case and then but back in after a few minutes. When I tried to boot up my PC again, it would come up with a S.M.A.R.T error message that my HDD was bad and should be backed up and replaced. I then tried to boot into windows but could never get to the log in screen. Is there any way to log in so I can backup my files or even just to use my PC? Any reply would be greatly appreciated
  8. I am new to gaming PC's, so please forgive me if I say something dumb. I was recently playing on my gaming pc and had gone to shut it down, when it came up to update my windows 10. I had let it update and then shut down my pc. After a while, I came back to play on my pc and when windows was booting up, it started to update again. Once it was finished, I had logged in and was met with a black screen. After a few minutes, I pressed the restart button on my pc case and let it boot up again. The same thing had happened. After hours of various troubleshooting and checking components, I am now at the point where once I login, I am met with a black screen. I can bring up task manager but do nothing else. My pc specs : AMD FX-6300 GTX 750ti Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 WD 1TB HDD
