  1. Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the insight everyone!
  2. Well, that makes things easier. "If it ain't broke"
  3. I guess thats why I dont trust calcs. be quiet's calc puts that combo at 650w+. This is all a plan, the cpu/mobo isnt definite. Ill probably order/build over the winter. If Zen 3 puts out then I may go that route. Intel just seems to be more stable in my experience so it was my initial pick. Even at lower wattage ratings? Just curious, if we upped the budget to ~$150 what would you pick? Honestly, no reason. I figured it was getting "old" it seems stable as always.
  4. Im starting to lean towards just moving the PSU as I wont have a place for my old desktop anyway. I have 3-4 years left on the 10 year G2 warranty. That should at least last me until after my GPU upgrade too. $130. Would that support a newer GPU(2080s/3080) too?
  5. So im planning on building a new, long term use system and finally upgrading my Devils Canyon desktop. In the future I do plan on buying an updated GPU such as the 3080 or 4080, will not go Titan or TI. Here is my current PCPartpicker list: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor ($408.89 @ B&H) CPU Cooler: EK EK-AIO 240 D-RGB 66.04 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($119.00) Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490 AORUS ELITE ATX LGA1200 Motherboard ($199.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($144.99 @ Newegg) Storage: SanDisk Ultra 3D 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($69.98 @ Amazon) Storage: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB ACX 3.0 Video Card (Purchased For $0.00) Case: Phanteks Eclipse P500A ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.98 @ Newegg) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GA 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($108.78 @ Other World Computing) Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-08-04 09:09 EDT-0400 You can ignore the AIO, ill probably switch that to a 280/360 since I was able to snag a P500a. 32GB so I get matched sticks and never need to upgrade. My "problem" is that im a little lost as to what I actually NEED for this setup. Ive played around with calculators but I guess I just dont trust them. I prefer a bit of wattage overhead for future proofing, longevity and stability when overclocking. For instance I have a 750w Supernova G2 on a 4790k/GTX 1080 right now which I know is overkill. I could probably re-use that PSU, but Im leaning towards a new one with a new warranty that is more appropriately sized. I initially wanted another EVGA Supernova G"#" but it looks like they now make a "GA" which is grey on the psucultist list and the 750w model has some iffy reviews online. Newegg still sells the G3 which I might pick up, but im looking for other 80+ modular options under $130. I did look into a few of the gold/purple T1/2 PSUs (TT TP GF1 750w, FD Ion+ 760w, Supernova G3/GA) but the ones I could find all had some iffy reviews somewhere due to bad cabling or early death. Can someone spoon feed me a bit as to what I need and make a few PSU suggestions that are 80+, modular, and preferably under $130?
