  1. @BlueScope819 So here I was all ready to buy a new system on the basis that its never the right time to upgrade as there is always something new and better just around the corner, so if you want something then just buy it, otherwise if you always wait for the next big thing you'll never get anything. But you make a bunch of solid arguments and based off the arch of improvements AMD have shown and that its only a couple months away. I think I will kick myself more for spending the money now if they release something that massively increases the gap. So thank you for taking the time to reply . Now will just have to do my best to not spend the money on other things before then.
  2. That video is outdated and is based off 9th gen Intel. So far all my research has brought me to the conclusion that Intel still has the advantage in gaming. (as linus stated in that video) With better performance across a range of titles. Many reviewers state the stability of Intel over AMD at this stage with many saying they have much more problems with AMD and spending lots of time trying to get it working properly. But a resource I have chosen that have done a ton of work in regards to building proper workstations across a range of applications still use Intel as their primary platform. (Puget Systems) "In Adobe Photoshop, most of the new Intel 10th Gen processors - such as the Core i7 10700K and i5 10600K - should perform about on par with an equivalently priced AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen processor. This means that if you are looking to spend around $400 or less on your CPU, you can go with either Intel or AMD and you likely won't be able to tell the difference in Photoshop. If you have a bit more of a budget, however, the Intel Core i9 10900K is around 10% faster than the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, or the more expensive 3950X. In fact, it is currently the fastest processor available for Photoshop regardless of your budget which is going to make it a popular option for use in a Photoshop workstation." "Even with the launch of Intel's new 10th Gen desktop processors, AMD continues to hold a slight performance lead in Premiere Pro with their 3rd Gen Ryzen line. The difference is often relatively minor, but AMD processors like the Ryzen 7 3800X and Ryzen 9 3900X are a small 5% better for live playback compared to the Intel Core i7 10700K and Core i9 10900K. We did find that the Intel 10th Gen processors are faster when exporting to H.264, although this advantage is likely to be mitigated in the new 14.2 version of Premiere Pro which added GPU accelerated encoding of H.264 and HEVC." " In Adobe After Effects, there isn't much of a difference in overall performance between the Intel 10th Gen and AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen processors. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and 3800X are about 5% faster than the Intel 10th Gen CPUs for tracking, which can make AMD a slightly better choice for some users depending on how much tracking they do in After Effects. However, the Intel Core i9 10900K and Core i7 10700K are about 5% faster than their AMD Ryzen counterparts for RAM preview and rendering, which is going to make them slightly more attractive for most After Effects users." IMHO I would think for the 5% performance difference having a more stable system overall as well as the better gaming performance would make Intel the better choice,
  3. Long overdue upgrade of workstation with primary use in premiere, after effects, also gaming like COD, and various car sims, but also VR using Oculus Rift S. This is in Australia, so $AUD obviously. Should I Air Cool or AIO liquid the CPU or balls out water cool the lot. (i would prefer the system to be as quiet as possible.) Any other suggestions of things i may have missed. Cheers
