  1. My buddy built a rig - 5800X, b550, Red Devil 6900 XT. He's running high frames at 1080p (240hz monitor). I'm not local to him or I'd go check it out. While monitoring the GPU clock rate dips very rapidly every like second. According to HW Monitor and Radeon its only pulling like 50-70W. Been trouble shooting with him two days now. Power settings, OC settings, Radeon Settings, Gen 4 then Gen 3 in bios, connections, DDU and fresh drivers, fresh windows, everything I can think of. He only plays Warzone - So we started with every single setting we could on that thinking it was Warzone specific, I had him run some other benches and it appears there as well though it is not as bad. He told me he put in a EVGA GQ 850W 80+ Gold PSU. The box recommends 900W - I've started thinking that possibly may be the cause, but I would have thought he would get random shutdowns. He's stubbornly on his way to exchange the PSU for the same PSU thinking that one is defective. We've also tried the bios switch on the GPU. It's hard for me to troubleshoot without having the PC and switching out part for part to test. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!
  2. Alright, Thanks for the info - much better than anything else I've found online. Appreciate it! Have a good day.
  3. That's what I had figured, could to have shorted without actually damaging the ram? Thanks for the response.
  4. I acquired a Asus Rog Strix GL502V. Long story short, I think when I upgraded the ram and put in an NVME drive it was in sleep mode (Yes stupid I know). When I was done it wouldn't turn on at all, and there was no light indicating it was charging while plugged in. I've done a hard reset, cleared cmos. Pretty much everything I can think of. About a week later I went to test the RAM and the NVME drive to see if they were fried, and they all work perfectly fine even the ram I had pulled from the machine. So that got me thinking perhaps I didn't fry the motherboard and its a seperate issue. Any help would be appreciated! About to eat about $500 on this thing.
  5. Ahh well that stinks :( Atleast I know I didn't mess them up some how, I really appreciate your help! Thanks
  6. I did use that tool, I followed some guides on youtube, to summarize I run it as Admin and load the .rom - then press program and reboot. I'll attach the actual rom file I got from techpowered up maybe that'll help some. There are 3 different options under the model at techpoweredup, two of them my system boots into windows and then almost immediately freezes. (Had to enable integrated graphics to get back in and flash again.) Powercolor.RX470.4096.160731.rom
  7. Here you go - idle it sits at like 900ish but the second ANY load is put on the GPU it drops down instantly. Edit: I know I don't have newest drivers, but I tried and tried and just started going to whatever windows automatically updated it to for testing. currentbiosforforum.rom
  8. Sons PC, fresh install a few months ago.. Been troubleshooting them in this had a 1060 in it before, did DDU before I started on this adventure though. Just figured I'd give it a shot and maybe give one to a friend the price was right... I think $45 a piece.. You get what you pay for I guess, guy had good reviews though.
  9. So if I had a couple of these and they both did the same thing they just sent me a bad batch you think?
  10. I decided to purchase a cheap RX 470 for my sons rig, it was used for mining and still had mining bios.. I did a flash back to 'stock' bios and once finally finding a stable bios it will not go above 600Mhz core clock. I've tried messing with power settings.. AMD settings and can not find a cure, I'm thinking its the vbios from techpoweredup but its the only one I can find anywhere. Any recommendations? I did DDU for fresh drivers each time. Sits at 48c 597Mhz 100% load in Furmark. Any help is appreciated thanks!
