  1. Nope, literally just took the first screenshot, restarted, and then took the second. But you're right, that does make the whole thing even weirder. I'll probably just end up waiting for whatever happens next, if anything happens – like I said, this is pretty much just my non-work travel laptop at this point, so it wouldn't even be too much of a disaster if it suddenly kicked it. But thanks anyway!
  2. So I have this mid-tier HP Pavilion from 2017 which I previously used as my main PC when living abroad. Thankfully I've upgraded in a pretty significant way since then, but I think I'll still keep the old girl around for backup. Recently, however, I've noticed a bit of a strange phenomenon. Sometimes, whenever I try to start any application that's just slightly demanding and would need more than the on-board chipset, it will immediately crash and display an error message that's usually along the lines of "No compatible graphics hardware found". This can be resolved very easily by restarting the system, but I do feel like it's been happening more and more often, so when this problem just occurred again right now, I downloaded a simple GPU diagnostics tool, took a screenshot (_1), restarted, and then took another one (_2), and sure enough, my card seems to have been thoroughly offline. Now, I haven't encountered any of the usual telltale signs of impending graphics doom like screen tearing at all, and since I'm not reliant on this system anymore, this inquiry is more out of curiosity than anything else, but could my card really be on its last legs? While I'm not completely incompetent with computers, I certainly won't be able to answer that question without the help of someone who actually know what they're talking about, so any input will be appreciated. (Also notice how in the screenshots, the writing at the top of the window looks differently between them, and how the window is cropped more accurately in the second one; I only noticed this just now myself)
