  1. I bought this a while ago when I was using my laptop for gaming but didn’t have enough space in it.
  2. My budget is less than 100 dollars, if possible under 80-90
  3. I have recently had the need for a new power supply, I was previously running a Corsair one which lasted me a good while, but I am in need of a new one, and I was just wondering if EVGA was a good brand, I know cheating out on the power supply a little is generally a bad idea but this one seems to have good enough reviews and is rated with enough wattage for my pc: https://www.newegg.com/evga-500-br-100-br-0500-k1-500w/p/N82E16817438145 (500W) option, maybe 600 just because it’s a couple extra bucks If you have any suggestions I’d be happy to have some! 4. Recently I decided to upgrade my PC (old specks below) with a new motherboard, RAM, and CPU. However I plugged everything on, the motherboard lights came on and no post or video output. Then I went though a checklist on toms hardware and one of the things on that list was to short the green and any neighboring black pins on the 32 pin motherboard cable with the fans plugged in to test the ability of the PSU (Sounds really stupid looking back). However all that happened was my fan lights briefly flashed and nothing, after trying again once more I saw the fame flash of light except this time I saw a little bit of smoke coming from the motherboard which I can only assume was a capacitor, then I immediately turned off the power supply and unplugged it for the night, let it cool off and watched Austin powers because I was feeling rather distraught, then the next day I decided to try and plug back in my previous setup because there was not much on there that I cared about anymore besides the GPU which I left out. Then the same thing happened with brief flash from the fans but then a small bit of smoke. So I feel this gives me good reason to believe it is my PSU, which is weird because it had been working like a champ for quite a bit until I turned off my system to do the part swap. So my new course of action is to hopefully order a new PSU I was thinking thermaltake 500W white certified. However I was just wondering if anyone here thought it would be a better idea to swap out the motherboard, better idea for a new PSU, or if it could potentially be a different part of the systems fault...
