  1. @J L I opened it and tightened all plugs I could without removing the heat sink. No luck. I did some meddling with the recording devices in sound window that opens when you right click on sound icon. I basically set some other mic device to default and then changed back to Microphone Array. Surprisingly, it worked for a few minutes. I checked it on onlinemictest.com. But after a few minutes it absolutely stopped working again ;_; I tried the same things again, reinstalled realtek drivers, restarted laptop multiple times but no luck again ;_;
  2. Alright, will do that. I never touched any of those though, All I operated on was the Heat sink assembly (fans, heat sink, wifi card cable).
  3. Oh, I see. Thank you. But I would really want to fix my laptop mic as well since its internal and I will not have to worry about carrying an external mic everywhere with my laptop. Do you (or anyone else reading this) have any knowledge about Hardware of internal mic assembly? I would really appreciate some help.
  4. No ;_; Yes Yes. I have enabled all applications to access the mic. onlinemictest.com is the site I always use to check my mic.
  5. So this problem first appeared day before yesterday, when I tried to play a game after cleaning and repasting my Helios 300 Ph315-52 laptop. The internal microphone was not working. Surprisingly, it worked fine the next day morning after I ran the windows troubleshooter and restarted the laptop. It stopped working again the same evening and has stopped working hence forth. The drivers are up to date in device manager, the microphone array device is not disabled. I also tried troubleshooting it again but troubleshooter can't find any problem. Tried uninstalling "Microphone Array(Realtek(R) Audio)" from device manager, that didn't work either. If it was a hardware issue, shouldn't troubleshooter have identified it already? I really need help with this issue. Thank you.
  6. So I opened my Helios 300 Ph315-52 today to repaste it myself for the first time. I had got it repasted under warranty a couple of months ago but I wanted to do it myself because I think they had done a poor job. When I opened the heat sink assembly after looking into a online guide, I found out that one of the copper pad has detached from the heat sink assembly and is stuck on the VRAM die because of the pink paste. The copper pad was attached to heatsink using some cement like material. I managed to rub out almost all of it using q-tips and IPA. What do I do now? Can I just apply a thin layer of Kryonaut instead of the cement? Also, there were neon coloured thermal pads and pink paste on other things. Could you please take a look and tell me if I need to replace any of those? I have some fresh 0.5 mm and 1 mm thermal pads. I would really appreciate some quick help because I dont want to keep my laptop open for long.
  7. Do you think the time its going to last will exceed the shelf life of Kryonaut? Also, do you have any idea about its shelf life? Temperature here is 30 C during summers.
  8. I have been looking to buy Thermal grizzly Kryonaut here https://us.maxgaming.com/us/thermal-compound/kryonaut-555g-compound. I have few queries regarding the website and item they are selling. 1) Has anyone used the site before? How was your experience? I am kinda skeptical about buying from a retailer directly online. (Though this is the only option I know of. It's not available in local stores/amazon here in India. ) 2) Is the package they have showed in the link I shared above the latest? It doesn't seem to have the stamp on front that says "Certificate of Origin" Inside? 3) I am paying 17+8=24 (price+shipping) USD for it. Do you suggest any other websites that could deliver it to my country at lower price? 4) I am a laptop user. Will 5.5g be too much for me? I'll probably repaste my laptop every 6 months since I game a lot and my CPU temp is always 92+ which dries out pastes quickly! Thank you.
  9. Hello. I am planning to repaste my Helios 300 Ph315-52 (GTX 1660ti, i7 9750H). I'll also be changing the thermal pads if they're damaged. I was just wondering if the quality of VRAM/Capacitors etc thermal pads really matter if I'm using a good paste(Kryonaut) for the CPU and GPU dies. Will any generic thermal pad (1.2W/mK~2.0W/mK) just do fine or should I go for the branded expensive ones? Will it ave any effect on performance of the laptop? Thank you.
  10. I see. Well, since you talked about Aliexpress here, let me tell you that I ordered a tube of Kryonaut from Aliexpress a week ago. Hope it is not something I should be concerned about :3
  11. I've been surfing a lot to find a good thermal paste to bring down my laptop's CPU temps (Helios 300 Ph315-52 with i7 9750H). I recently heard about this pump out effect which most thermal pastes face in laptop. Does this mean that viscous thermal pastes are best for laptops(where the heatsink doesn't have pressure and could possibly be a loose fitting one)? Does it also mean that pastes like Kingpin cooling KPX should have much better longevity that other premium pastes like Kryonaut in laptops? I'm very confused, please help me. If you have other information/suggestion, I'd be grateful if you post it here. Thank you.
