Context: I work for a YouTuber in preproduction compiling content into rough cuts and currently I am running a pretty dated setup I bought prepackaged years ago from IBP. I build pcs regularly so putting it together shouldn't be an issue. I'd like to go as small as possible.
Here is my issue..
Whenever I am rendering from Sony Vegas (CPU RENDER ONLY, it crashes when I try to GPU render lol...) it annihilates my cpu and I cant do anything else for fear of bad render.
This setup however, runs everything I care about well so I dont want to upgrade it really. I play games on it, watch videos, work etc.
So my thought was that I could build a 2nd pc with a good cpu, good ram, mobo, ssd, and just forego a gfx card intending to use onboard video. Then lan them with high speed connection and like a peripheral splitter. All so I can render and still use my pc to play games while it's doing its thing. I dont do any detailed editing. Very basic cropping, cue card screens, chopping bad content, etc. Honestly I dont need the renders to be quick as long as I can still use my main pc...
Is this a dumb idea?
Any thoughts and part suggestions appreciated.
