  1. See whats weird about my situation is I'm not putting a gfx card in it at all so it's kinda overkill. Largest overhead will be heatsink and I'm sure I can find a decent one that would fit a ?thinner? case.
  2. I know. I know... ATX small form factor lol... It's weird request but I'm inheriting someones old PC parts and I want to stick it all in a small 'light render workstation' case that can either be mounted under my desk or sit on top of it behind a monitor. Here is what will be in it... A8-3870K ASUS F1A75-V Pro DDR3 2x8GB 1600 RAIDMAX RX -850AE 850 WATT (willing to replace this with smaller form/wattage... because I'm pretty sure I can get away with a 400w power supply, maybe 450w.) Random SSD (frickin 3m'd to the side, idc) I'm pretty sure I need a network pci card to get the transfer speeds I want between the LAN. I don't know for sure yet, haven't done any research. Some that were reccomended to me were the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO... But even that looks pretty big and I dont need HDD or Optical slots... I see linus using like server containers a lot, not sure how or where to start there but any suggestions welcome. Honestly the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO would be amazing if you just cut off the bottom half where all the useless stuff goes... I guess the Power supply goes down there... sigh. Thanks LTT boards!
  3. This is a great list for starting point. I really appreciate it. In theory though could the onboard video be used if a board had it?
  4. Budget (including currency): 500 (flexible) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rendering 1080p 15minute videos constantly. Setup: i5-6402p 2.80 (I think auto turbo to 3.2) 16 gb corsair ram(running at 2133 cuz board restrictions) MSI B150M BAZOOKA Radeon RX-480 Running two 24 inch and one 27 inch monitor currently Context: I work for a YouTuber in preproduction compiling content into rough cuts and currently I am running a pretty dated setup I bought prepackaged years ago from IBP. I build pcs regularly so putting it together shouldn't be an issue. I'd like to go as small as possible. Here is my issue.. Whenever I am rendering from Sony Vegas (CPU RENDER ONLY, it crashes when I try to GPU render lol...) it annihilates my cpu and I cant do anything else for fear of bad render. This setup however, runs everything I care about well so I dont want to upgrade it really. I play games on it, watch videos, work etc. So my thought was that I could build a 2nd pc with a good cpu, good ram, mobo, ssd, and just forego a gfx card intending to use onboard video. Then lan them with high speed connection and like a peripheral splitter. All so I can render and still use my pc to play games while it's doing its thing. I dont do any detailed editing. Very basic cropping, cue card screens, chopping bad content, etc. Honestly I dont need the renders to be quick as long as I can still use my main pc... Is this a dumb idea? Any thoughts and part suggestions appreciated.
