  1. Yeah I thought so, Thanks for the help anyway man. Thought that Windows would have a feature to change the pin to windows remotely to prevent unauthorized access. But I guess not.
  2. It is their laptop. They know the pin for it which is signed into my personal windows account which has a lot of private info on it, also signed into my chrome, FB, Youtube etc. I used it outside of work hours for personal use too. (I know, really stupid move) I left the company and forgot to wipe the machine etc. They logged on found a bunch of personal crap, went through my browser history (because it's all synced) and are now basically messing me over saying I broke company policy. I didn't, they have no network and did not supply me with a version of windows to log into so I said I would just use my own personal account. Pretty sure they where on my facebook and personal emails too. So I am trying to stop them from logging in.
  3. Yeah it was just a normal laptop and the only account on there was mine. I have already done that. So even though they know the pin to my windows login, it will now no longer work? Because everywhere else is saying they can still login in and get into windows if they have the pin? They just can't edit any settings etc.
  4. When I say work laptop - it was literally just a normal laptop that was bought from PC World, and I installed windows on it with my account.
  5. I have already done that, but according to everything I have seen, the pin is local to the machine; so they can still use it.
  6. My windows account is on my work laptop which I no longer work at. But the people there know my "Windows Pin". I know Windows pin is local to the machine and they can log in with it. How do I stop them from logging in?!
  7. My pc that I have had for 8-9 years finally died today. And THIS was the last thing it ever did. Rip my I3770k. I have been repairing and repairing this thing over the years to keep running due to never having the budget for a new pc (thankyou Linus for all the help btw) But sadly today it was no longer coming back to life and the final thing it ever saw was Linus staring at the error. (it did not make it to 100%)
  8. TLDR: played cyberpunk, logged off and now my GPU instantly goes to max temp playing any game and struggles hard. I have been playing WOW since it came out, my Zotac 1650 super handles it perfectly along with other many games. So I thought I would giver Cyberpunk a try and it handled it quite well on low/medium settings, logged off for the night and now this morning I launched WOW and my gpu instantly goes to max temp, struggles really hard with fps which it has never done playing WOW, it normally bareley went over 65 degrees at all times. Tried it with a few other games I normally play and its doing the same thing. Did I burn something out while playing Cyberpunk? the card is only a year old and I have never had any issues with it. Some advice would be really helpfull as I am kinda freaking out!
  9. Sounds like a good plan to me then. Oh damn that is my exact power supply and I got it from Scan too. Yeah replacing it seems to be a priority too. Also why was it bad, any particular reson?
  10. Thanks for the parts list, much appreciated! Yeah with overclocking I would need a way better cooler than I already have for sure, idle temp is like 37-40 with this thing. And you think replacing the psu too would be a good thing (I am kinda worried about this one with it being so old and caked in crap) even though I have cleaned it muliple times theres still dust melted onto the board of it
  11. True I didn't think I could get any more performance apart from the SSD. Plus yeah I have heard that my CPU is still ok for todays standards.
  12. Obvioulsy the SSD is a major thing that will help out a lot. So you think focusing the rest on thermals would be the way to go? Basically improve the life of the machine instead of trying to upgrade the speeds etc?
  13. Short version: 9 year old hardware that needs upgrading but with limited funds, what to prioritise with £200 budget. SPECS CPU: I7 3770k MOBO: P8Z77-V RAM: 2x 8gb DDR3 1338MHz (currently XMP at 1800MHz) GPU: Zotac 1650 Super 4gb (Brand new) PSU: 850W (no idea what model, pentium 4 pc-850auba-m?) HHD: 1TB Disk drive CPU Arctic Freezer 11 LP Low Profile CPU Cooler Case: 9 year old terrible case that's falling apart with terrible air flow So in a nut shell I need advise on what to upgrade on my rig with a £200 budget. Also this hardware (expcept the GPU) is very old, around 9 years old. And the cpu was running pretty much intel stock fan for years so god knows the condition on that poor CPU. Also the PSU makes some funky noises sometimes, even after cleaning (think the fan bearings a bit messed up) The most obvious glaring thing is getting an SSD but what size and pricing? My CPU and board can't be used with DDR4 so that's out of the question, unless I get a new board and CPU but £200 isn't going to cut it I don't think. My initial thoughts are to grab an SSD, get a new case and cooler, but your advice would be greatly appreciated! Also UK here :)
