  1. Hi there, It is *not* mandatory to find the exact model of the DIMM you already have installed, it's just the better practice to avoid incompatiblities or instability in the future. But in general you can install different models of RAM and it should work just fine. Just make sure they have the same speed and timings to be as certain as possible that they can work together.

  3. Hi everyone, Not sure if here it's the right spot to post this, I'm guessing it is. So, I recently bought a 2nd-hand motherboard, an Intel DQ77MK and it has this connector that looks just like M.2, and the Intel website is unhelpful as far as I can read to confirm this. I was wondering if it actually is an M.2 slot, since it says PCIe FMC but the only thing I can find online about it is some weird server cards, so it doesn't tell me anything. I would just test with a M.2 directly but I don't have one at hand, I wanted to make sure first before buying one. The port is right there on the lower right corner, just alongside the SATA ports. If you have this motherboard and have used the port or know exactly what it is used for I'd be really grateful for your help. Thanks!
  4. The thing is that 20-30$ is quite a bit of money here and it's not that easy to let it go just on hardware. On the flip side I have a decent PSU already, it's 650W Bronze but it works well for the components I have, I just use a converter for the Optiplex's 24 Pins. And I think he fried it upping the voltage but also setting the oc to something plain stupid like 6GHz. It was instant death.
  5. It certainly is a pos, I had to buy it in a pinch because my first motherboard was fried by a friend who thought he knew how to overlock and my second one died because of a brownout. When the power came back the motherboard was dead and that how I ended up with an Optiplex motherboard, I don't even have the case, I have to run it open air since it's not even standard ATX. And tbh I haven't bought another 1156 because I'd rather save to actually upgrade the system when I have some decent money.
  6. Yeah, sure. Let me just take some money out of my magic pocket. Upgrades are not an option for everyone, I just posted it because it seemed curious and I wanted to share.
  7. So this is not troubleshooting or anything, I just wanted to share what has been the weirdest reading I have ever seen from my hardware. I suppose it's a bug but could anyone tell me for certain if this is possible or not?

  9. Hello there, First post here, I almost sure this is the correct place for this post. Well, I'll explain the title. I had an old i7-860 and a Intel DP55WB that I got in exchange for my PS3. Since it wasn't my main system, I lend it to a friend that was still using a Pentium D. He asked me if he could make some OC and I said yeah. Problem starts when he tells me that the Motherboard may be dead or bricked, since he tried BCLK OC, as he saw in the BIOS that changing the value could get him to 6+GHz. Obviously after restarting the PC would not boot. He tried everything to fix it. Clear CMOS Take out the battery Change RAM Change CPU Change PSU Nothing worked, we tried with 3 different PSUs, and with an i3 530 on the motherboard. The i7 worked fine on another motherboard. The thing is I believe the mobo is still alive, just bricked. The board has a tiny LED that turns on everytime its connected to power, but when you go to short the pins to power up, it does nothing at all. I was wondering if I should have any hope in reviving the motherboard. The i7 may come in handy now since I'm using a i5-3570 as daily driver and I want something better. Sorry if my English in cringey, I'm still learning Thanks if you can help!
